Then why did you ask????? If you did, then you are "hoping" at least for an upgrade.
They happen due to overbooking at one level, a refurbishment that went over schedule, a maintenance issue or if a room assigner notes a special occasion on a resort reservation. These are all items beyond your control and no reason to wonder why it happens.
I'm one who always pays for at least what I expect but always hoping that Disney were to surprise me and say, "goofy4prez, instead of a WL cl room we have a GF Royal Palm Club room for you. There's nothing wrong with hoping.
