Is there anyone who has had their complimentary night NOT be their wedding night??

I emailed my planner because I wasn't sure whether or not we would qualify for it, and we do :cool1: but she said the complimentary night would be on our wedding night, and they just need to know what resort we want to stay at.

I know it's weird, but we definitely don't want it the night of the wedding since we are having our MK bridal shoot the next morning. We'd like it to be another night since we'd love to take advantage of the better level resort amenities the next morning. :cutie:

ALSO, if we do the comp night the night of our wedding, it kind of screws up our free dining. We had originally planned on paying ourselves to switch our resort the night of the wedding, but the Free Dining expires the day after the wedding so when we check back IN to Pop, since it's a new reservation we lose our free dining for the rest of the stay.

So, if worse comes to worse, I guess we continue to pay for our room at POP the night of the wedding so as not to lose our Free Dining, and take our comp night at AKL the night of the wedding, and then get up at the butt crack of dawn, and my MOH who was doing my hair for the shoot is over at POP...argggh this doesn't seem very magical, does it?? Not that they pay for the room at POP is a big deal, it's a Tuesday night in Value season!

Okay, I'm done. I feel stressed about this and I don't want my planner to think I'm a crazy person. Reassurance?

Why dont you not check out of Pop and just check in to The other resort for that one night then you wouldn't lose free dining because you're just not staying at Pop that one night.

We checked in to the French quarter on 6/10-6/16, but had our 2 free nights booked at the beach club for 6/13-6/15, we just let them overlap.

I would talk to your Room Block contact, this is the person who keeps track of the block and sends you the updates since they are the one that books that room for you anyway. Our complimentary night was not our wedding night, it was actually the last night of our stay, a few days later. I just told him that was the day I preferred since I didn't want to worry about checking out and checking back in if we needed to. We stayed at the GF the whole time, so we just had the reservations linked and didn't need to change rooms at all, so that could have been why they didn't mind, but I would definitely discuss it with them.

We are actually using our comp night for DF to stay at another resort the night before the wedding. According to our Planner, the Comp night does not have to be for the night of the wedding, just during your wedding stay. HTH!

I used my comp night at the very end of the first part of our stay (the night before we go on the cruise). They didn't hassle me at all about it!

Another one who used the comp night later. We stayed 4 different places, and we used out comp night at the Grand Floridian on the last night of our stay.

we also stayed a different night :) We stayed at the poly they put us in a room that was concierge level with a castle view! It was beautiful!!!! We were able to watch wishes right from our room. DH kept wakeing me up to show me the castle...and checking to make sure it was still there...lol:wizard:

We also used our complimentary night after the wedding at Poly and they upgraded us to a castle view for our stay at Poly too! It was amazing and we totally didn't expect it but loved it! :wizard:

We could also see the WP from our balcony, where we had just gotten married so it was very special.

Can't wait to go back for our anniversary

Thanks everyone. :goodvibes I think it's all sorted out now!

I emailed my planner last week and got a reply from someone (not my planner) that they booked us in at AKL for the last night of our stay. So yay! :cool1:

And then I read the end of the email where they said they put the room in my future father-in-law's name. :headache: A small fix, I'm sure. Kind of strange though.

Yeah, they put our free room in DH's name for some reason, despite the fact that I was the main contact for everything else to do with our wedding and honeymoon—maybe it's so they don't have to guess whether or not the bride is keeping her last name? Dunno why they'd use your FFIL's name, though, unless it's cuz he's footing the wedding bill! :)

Lots of great info on this thread! Im jw does everyone get a complimentery night from DFTW or is it only wishes weddings? Do escape weddings get it depending on how much it costs by the time you have added on extras?

Thanks, Eve

The complimentary night is awarded for filling 25 room nights in a room block. Escape weddings are also eligible to set up room blocks so, yes, you could get one if you set up a room block and your guests fill 25 nights. :thumbsup2

Ah right, thanks Carrie. I dont think we'll get the 25 nights filled as planning a villa offsite so nevermind :)

We are having an escape wedding and didn't actually DO a room block, but have 69 rooms booked at Pop Century (including our 9 nights). Our guests got a WAY better deal through public offers (free dining), but we still get a free night, because all of the rooms count towards it (if that makes sense). I don't know that villas count, somebody else might though!

This could also be one of those "it depends on who you talk to" kind of things :rotfl2:
