Is the free 50MB wifi package, per stateroom or per person in the stateroom?

Thanks!
Kate

It is actually per person over I believe the age of 18 if you have 2 different Email accounts. Both my husband and I were able to get the 50mb, but my son was not even though he has his own Email address.

My husband and I each got 50MB free. When we finished with the free MBs, we used my email for a paid shared package.

This was not my experience. I just checked the Navigator from our October cruise and it says "Only one free package per stateroom, but everyone can share it". On our most recent cruise my husband and I were not able to get 50mb each, even with using different email addresses.

In August we were able to get it per person. Maybe they've changed since then, though.

We got ours on the Magic during our October 29th cruise.

This difference in experiences has persisted for a long time. I can't figure out why some people can get it per person and others can't. Not being able to get it for your child is a new piece of info, but maybe they just cap it at two per stateroom.

To be clear, it does say 1 per stateroom, but when my wife and i each signed up for it (using our own phones and e-mail addresses) we listed our stateroom number accurately, so it isn't like we were trying to hide anything or trick anyone. This wouldn't be the only case where the "official statement" is different than actual practice. For example, if you call DCL, they will tell you that boarding the ship starts at 1PM, and NO EARLIER, but we all know that on most days boarding starts at 11:30 or 11:45.

We also used our the correct stateroom number and it did allow both of us to be able to sign up. This was on the Dream in January.

We were both able to get the free 50mb on our January cruise on the Wonder.

Just echoing the others, we've been able to do two of us and we also used the correct stateroom and information.

My wife and I both got it using the same stateroom number and our individual email addresses & phones.

Honestly though, it's a laughable amount of data so not really a big deal.

If you're going to want to surf the internet, check emails, post on social media daily (say for max an hour a day) for 7 days the 1000MB package will just barely be enough for 1 person.

My husband & I got the free 50MB package on all our cruises since 2014. 4 night, 7 night and 14 night. It was plenty for us to check our emails (both of us, under one account). We don't do social media while vacationing, or surf the net. But we do need to check for any important emails while gone.

I have a question about using the free 50 MB package. I know that we should turn our phones to airplane mode to avoid roaming. Does that mean when you want to text, surf the internet, or check emails that you turn airplane mode off and then use the free 50 MB? I get a little confused and worried that once I turn airplane mode off, then I will receive a lot of texts and emails that will "eat up" the 50 MB package.

You need to keep the airplane mode on so your phone won't connect to a cellular signal. Go in and separately turn the wifi on. Before you log into the paid wifi package, make sure you've disabled all auto update features. Texts generally don't take up huge amounts of data unless they are picture or video texts, and and only works through the data package if you are using a messaging app that uses wifi instead of your regular phone texting feature. There should be settings on your phone that will prevent attachments and pictures contained in emails from downloading unless you specifically open the content.

If you are at all unsure, stop by the Connect@Sea desk and ask them to help you with your settings.

You will leave the airplane mode turned on all the time. It is helpful to stop by the Connect desk and ask them to turn off everything running in the background. I still received a Facebook messenger message and an imessage. Hubby had his weather app running in the background and zapped his 50MB right away.

Do you get a warning after you've used up the 50MB? Or does it automatically charge you the wifi package rates?
