Complicated ticket question

Hi everyone. I have a complicated ticket situation, and I'm looking for confirmation that what the Disney phone rep told me is accurate.

I'll be going to Disney in September. For the first four nights starting Friday, DH and I will be staying at Saratoga Springs (we're DVC members). For the next five nights starting Tuesday, we'll be staying at Coronado Springs. We're going to a business meeting in Orlando, so my company is picking up the cost of my Coronado Springs package, including tickets and free dining. (Note: The meeting is not at Disney, so we're not receiving "convention tickets" -- just regular, run of the mill six-day tickets.)

While at Saratoga Springs, we'll buy a five-day ticket each. Once we check into Coronado Springs, we'll receive six-day tickets each as part of our package. (Remember, my company will have paid for that one.)

What I'd like to do, and what the Disney phone rep told me I can do, is -- on Tuesday -- take my five-day ticket that's still active and my new six-day ticket and combine them toward an upgrade to a premium annual pass (with DVC discount). Since my company is paying for the six-day, the end result will be that I get a premium annual pass for a little more out of my pocket than what I'd spend on the tickets for the initial part of my stay.

The Disney phone rep assures me this will work, but I can't find any info online about applying two active tickets toward an annual pass upgrade.

I'd appreciate any insight you can offer.

According to Cheshire Figment, you cannot combine tickets to upgrade - you may only upgrade tickets on a one to one basis. He is the expert - I'd totally believe him over some phone rep! :thumbsup2

An upgrade to an Annual Pass or Premium Annual Pass follows basically the same rules as any other upgrade of MYW tickets.

Note that any upgrade requires a cash (or cash equivalent) payment and can only be done on a one to one basis. You cannot combine the value of more than one ticket. In other words, if you had a six day base ticket and a one day base, you could not add the value of both to end up with an AP, even with additional payment. If, however, you have three tickets and are paying to upgrade each of them, this can be done on one transaction.

Can you schedule the SSR part of your trip after the CSR part and upgrade the CSR tickets?

Nope.

You can't combine tickets.

My question is, why would you still have any "days left" on the ticket that
you buy to use before your company-sponsored package?

Just upgrade the 6-day package ticket into the AP you want.

OR-

Just buy an AP instead of the 5-day ticket you are getting for the "pre-business" trip.
Then just KEEP the 6-day tix that the company is buying and use them on a future
trip and/or to partially pay for your NEXT AP (renewal or outright purchase.)

Regardless of when (this trip, or in the future) you decide to upgrade the "package" ticket, you need to USE it at least once to enter a theme park BEFORE you do the upgrade. That will allow the ticket to be "worth" the current full gate-price for that type of ticket.

Alternatively, you can not activate the second pass that comes with the CS package. You can get them to separate the pass from the CS room key and save the pass for another time. So long as you don't start using that ticket, it'll still be good. You can then upgrade your SSR pass to as many days as you need at Guest Relations.

On your next visit, you can start using the pass that came with the CS room originally, and upgrade that as necessary.

Good advice. You can't upgrade to an 11-day MYW ticket, but you could upgrade your five day tickets to a ten day for about $16 and save your six day tickets for another trip.

Thanks, guys! I knew there had to be some way to make this work.

I'll upgrade my initial tickets for the nine days I'll need them and save the six-day tickets for a future trip.

Awesome advice! Thanks again.

Not only can you not combine tickets, but your company may have actually purchased Convention Tickets and not straight MYW tickets. And if you have Convention tickets they have a validity date range and cannot be upgraded in any way.

Thanks, but they're not convention tickets. Our conference is actually at Marriott Grande Lakes. I'm just staying at Disney, because I convinced my boss booking the free dining package was a great deal. So it's just a regular six-day ticket.

Appreciate all the advice.

You have one more option:

Rather than buying a five day ticket at the beginning of the trip you can go to a Guest Relations location and explain that you would like to pick up your tickets from your Coronado Springs Resort reservation early. The Cast Member will call the resort and verify they type of tickets you have and then print them out for you.

At this point (provided they aren't special convention tickets, but it sounds like they aren't) you can spend what you planned to in order to upgrade to a Premium DVC Annual Pass.

Just another option for you!

Wow -- that sounds like a terrific option. Has anyone had experience doing this?

While I haven't had experience with this, many posters on these boards have said that it depends on the CM you get. Some may do it, but many will not. It may be different for DVC members.
