My husband, almost 13 yo son and I are staying at the CBR Apr 21-26. Some good friends are staying at Beach Club Villas in a 2br APr 21-28. They are offering to keep my son Thursday and Friday and checkout and drive home on Saturday. Is it possible to do this and add his ticket and add'l dining plan onto their room starting Thursday? How does that work? Is it going to mess them or us up? Any help is appreciated!

Are your friends DVC members staying on points, or are they paying cash for their 2BR? DVC members staying on points can add dining without adding tickets. If they are paying cash, I think you would need to buy new tickets for your son, which wouldn't be very cost effective.

If you have regular MYW tickets (not YES tickets or other tickets that can't be upgraded), you can add days to your son's tickets for about $8 per day. If your friends are DVC members, they might be able to add dining for a couple of days for him - I don't know if they can add a person and dining for a few days or not (the DVC members on this board will know). You can always pay out of pocket for his meals the last couple of days.

You wouldnt be able to do it. Everyone would have to be on the same meal plan while they are checked in at BC. What I would do is add a few days on his ticket at the end of your stay and leave cash to pay OOP for his meals. If you know where they will be dining those few nights look up the menus and cost and you can get a rough idea of how much cash he will need plus the quick service meals! Hope this helps!!

This is your best plan. Though he will need to be added to the room for those days so he has a room key to get into SAB (the pool at BC/YC/BCV) but I am sure the front desk can help take care of all that!

Do you trust them with your child?

if they are DVC members they can do this - which dinning plan are they on? Or are they using TOWL card? with this they get a discount which would include your child.

secondly are they buying tickets or do they have annual pass (dvc members get a discount for the ap).

the only problem that I see are the tickets - buying just the tickets can be expensive for you for only a few days - if you can (and you should) be able to extend their tickets - just do it at the parks - inside the parks if possible they can sometimes be cheaper inside the parks at guest services.

also ask - some DVC members who offer like this - would paid for all the extra charges themselves.

dvc is different not everyone in the villa has to be on the same plan - especially since this is only for the last 2 days.

Keep in mind that dining credits are good through midnight on check out night. So if by chance you guys would have any credits left on your KTTW he could use those for his first night. I assume TS credits will be gone but maybe some CS or some snacks. That's about the only thing you'll be able to do assuming your friends are not DVC.

As for adding for park days I'd just do that at some point before you leave. The fee to add extra days beyond day 4 or 5 (sorry I can't remember which) is very nominal.

I think you should just call Disney and ask. My understanding is that the Disney Dining plan is pretty specific, everyone one a reservation has to hold at least a one day ticket and be on the plan for the exact same amount of days.

If your friends are on the DDP, they might have difficulties adding another person to their reservation at a later date without them being on the plan for the same number of days.

If your friends aren't using DDP or simply the TW card, then I don't see why it would be an issue. I believe the rooms sleep 8, so as long as adding your son doesn't exceed capacity limits, shouldn't be a problem.

I will check with my friend to find out about the DVC thing. I am not sure. Know that the time share is her mother in law's and transferred to her to take the grandchild. There are only 3 people staying in the 2BR so it will not exceed capacity. I will call Disney and inquire.

Hmmm...trust with my child--really? Wow if serious. Won't waste my time on that ridiculous and irrelavant question.

Thanks for the helpful answers.

Nope, DVC is exactly the same. Everyone needs to be on the same plan. But they may be able to add him to their room for the last few days without any dining plan at all. He can keep his old KTTW (from your room at CBR) and add a few days to that for the extra days he needs. Or you could just ask for his ticket not to be added to the KTTW and keep it separate.

He would need to be added to the reservation for BCV once he was going to be there. If they added him before they arrived, he would need the dining plan just like they had for the entire length of stay.

So just give him extra money for eating (or give it to your friend or put it on a Disney Gift Card) and buy him the extra days he needs for tickets.

My suggestion doesn't have anything to do with trust, just common sense. If you are leaving and your son stays, make sure the family has a copy of a medical insurance card and a notorized letter from you stating that they are allowed to make any medical decisions regarding your son. We have done this whenever traveling with our kids friends - you never know what can happen - better to be prepared. Will more than likely not be needed but we did this for peace of mind and one never knows when an accident/emergency can come up.

This is NOT true. Everyone staying in the villa must be on the same dining plan for the entire length of the reservation. The only way around this is for your friend to check out (quite possibly necessitating a room change) and then re-check in with your son on a separate reservation for the entire party for the last two nights.

DVC villas are now just like anything else for the dining plan. Everyone registered in the room before check-in has to be on the same plan for the full length of the reservation. Someone joining the reservation partway in can be added to the reservation after check-in but they will not have any dining credits assigned. You cannot "transfer" the dining plan from the stay at CBR to the stay at BCV. Those credits will expire at midnight after your son is checked out of CBR. So he could use them the first day he is at BCV if he has any left over, but not after that. I suggest they do add him to the reservation, at least so he can access Stormalong Bay if they want to go swimming there.

And there isn't any way to add a partial dining plan onto the BCV reservation for him. DVC used to allow "segmenting" of reservations to let guests change dining plans and the number of people registered in mid-stay but they no longer allow this unless the guest books two totally separate room reservations, then checks out and checks back in.

If he will only be with them for 2 nights, provide them with some cash to pay for his meals.

I think you should just call Disney and ask. My understanding is that the Disney Dining plan is pretty specific, everyone one a reservation has to hold at least a one day ticket and be on the plan for the exact same amount of days.

With a DVC reservation, there is no ticket purchase requirement, but everyone on the reservation must have the same dining plan for the full length of the reservation.

Don't worry- everything will be fine. There is absolutely no problem adding him to their room for the last two nights. The front desk will give him his own KTTW card and the parents staying there can just leave off charging privileges since there's nothing he would need to charge...that is unless you want your cc attached to it to pay for his meals. I would just give them some cash or a GC for his meals or agree to pay for them when they get back home. Perhaps they are cooking some in their villa anyway. If you have the DDP at CBR then he can use his refillable mug at BCV's locations and he can use any leftover dining credits until midnight on that first day. As to the park tickets, just go to Guest Services at some point and add two more days. I've added my grandson to part of my stays before both at DVC and when paying cash as my dd and her husband have driven over from their Florida home and dropped him off. It's been fun for both of us!

Here's an idea - how about having your friend put him on their reservation for the entire week and you pay his portion of the ticket and dining to your friend. He'll have a KTTW card for the entire time, he'll have dining credits on his card (you'll just have to make sure you are careful with his credits). Plus if he is going to hang out with the family any other time during the vacation, he could have access to the SAB pool the entire time too.

Just an idea, I don't think there's anything wrong with it, not breaking any occupancy rules, or dining plan rules or anything as far as I can tell.
