We will be staying at the Swan and will be ending our evening at MK. I see that the monorail goes to Epcot via the TTC. Is it possible to take the monorail to the TTC then take the monorail to Epcot, then enter the park and walk to the IG to get back to the Swan? This would be on a evening EMH for Epcot.

We will have a car on this trip. Is it better to just take the car to MK?
OR- just brave the crowds and try to take a bus back to the Swan? :flower:

I know it would make more sense to end the day at either MGM or Epcot so we could take advantage of walking back to the hotel, but we will only have 2 days at WDW and MK will be our evening park for both days, since it is third on our list.

Only Disney buses are allowed close the the Magic Kingdom. Everyone else parks at the TTC so you have to take the monorail or boat from the MK anyway. As long as you are sure it is an evening EMH at Epcot there is no reason why you cannot take the monoral to the TTC, transfer to the Epcot monorail, and walk through Epcot. Please note that it is quite a walk from the Epcot main entrance to the International Gateway. After exiting the IG it is another ten minutes to the Swan. If that doesn't bother you this plan will work. We always stay in the Epcot resort area and love the convenience of the International Gateway.

You'll have to have park-hoppers to do this, of course.

If you aren't planning to spend time in Epcot that night, I would take the bus back to the Swan. Not only would you have to transfer monorails at the TTC (where there could be a line of people waiting to get to the Epcot EMH), but it's a long walk from the Epcot monorail station to the Swan.

You could do what you describe, but I wouldn't. I think you'll get back to the Swan much quicker just by taking the bus, even if you have to wait in line. For one thing, there are going to be a lot of people getting on the monorail back to the TTC at the end of the night at MK (think of all those off-site people heading back to their cars). Then you have to switch to the Epcot monorail, and may have a wait there. Then once you get to Epcot, you have a long walk through Epcot and back to the Swan via the International Gateway. I'd say a bus would be much quicker, not to mention less of a hassle.

The only way I'd cut through EPCOT is if I was going to try to ride an attraction or stop for a drink.

The bus from the MK, even if you have a long wait, will be faster than waiting for 2 monorails and then the long walk through EPCOT then waiting for the bus or another walk to your hotel.

Every mode to get to TTC from MK was excrutiatingly slow. The massive crush of people leaving after fireworks - Disney tries hard but they can only do so much. Take the bus back the Swan.

Thank you everyone--I think it makes more sense to take the bus!

You could take the Resort monorail which makes one stop at the Contemporary before the TTC. On Saturday on July 4th weekend, it was only a one monorail wait. EMH hours for Epcot will probably be very similar to regular hours at MK (if MK isn't open later), so tranferring wouldn't be a problem. Only issue would be whether Epcot is open and allowing entry so that you could make your walk.

The walk from the monorail through FW, WS, and the Boardwalk would be a great way to end an evening.

Except the "walk to the Contemporary and take a cab." If you are trying to avoid the crush of people (and willing to pay for the privledge), cabs are a nice way.

Also, dally a bit leaving the MK. I think the shops on Main Street stay open, do a little browsing, take a seat and peoplewatch, whatever. If you do use Disney transportation (even just to the TTC), you'll have a wait. Do you want to wait while sitting on Mainstreet, or do you want to wait in a line for the bus?
