Complicated Cruise Transportation?

Hi All!

We are taking a carnival cruise out of Port Canavrel in June. It is me, my hubby and 4 kids ages 3-16. I already checked on the mears to get us to the port from mco thats a flat rate of $120 one way....When cruise is over we plan to spend another 4 nights in orlando; so we'll need a rental car. Is there a car rental place onsite at the port so we can just pick it up there and then return it to mco? Any suggestions are welcome. It just seems wasteful to rent a car from the time we arrive and have it sitting there the whole week that we are on the ship.

We've done two cruises out of Port Canaveral and rented from Dollar both times. Once we returned to MCO (2/2009) and once to the Regal Sun in DTD (11/2010). Both times it worked out fine.

Is dollar right at the port? I mean can we get off the cruise and have the car waiting there for us?

No rental car companies are right at the port. They are usually a few miles down the street in Cape Canaveral. Arrange for them to have a shuttle waiting on you to take you to their location. Drive takes about 5 min or less. We use Budget.

The Budget shuttle van is always coming and going from port to their office.

We also had good luck both times with the Dollar shuttle. They were there very quickly and the ride to the office is very short.
