Well that pretty much says it all- I usually love the holidays- decorating, shopping, baking but this yr I don't want to do anything, my kids start break at the end of next week and I have very little shopping done and NO wrapping at all -anybody else?

Well, I actually have most of my shopping and wrapping done, and my Christmas cards all ready to mail, but I really don't feel at all like decorating, baking or being jolly. I want to be a kid again and have someone else do all the work while I get to have all the fun!

I understand how you feel. I was trying to get into the spirit but the usual hassles with relatives started and I lost the feeling. I think that I want to travel somewhere next year.

Shopping is all done - just waiting for the packages to finish arriving..

It's getting a litte scary looking at the calendar though.. Have to finish unpacking from my return here to my DD's for the winter - most everything is sitting in her living room right now and that's where the tree goes.. I need help from my DGD and/or Dson-in-law though (DD can't lift anything) since I've been having so many dizzy spells lately (and have already taken 2 nasty falls on my tail bone in the past 9 months) because a bunch of stuff has to be carried downstairs to my craft room and/or storage area before I can organize the stuff back in my bedroom again.. (I will admit that I'm now afraid of falling again.. My fear is "3 strikes and you're out" - something is bound to break!)

DGD and I still have to go through our Christmas cookie list, decide what we're going to make, then check to see what additional ingredients are needed.. Then it's a trip to the grocery store to get those items..

I'm "pretty" sure I have enough wrapping paper - have to check that - and make sure I have plenty of scotch tape..

I will be involved in the other decorating (as well as the tree), but DGD and my DD do quite a bit of that because it's something my DD can actually do without too much pain, while spending quality time with my DGD..:lovestruc

Now that I've typed this all out I'm :eek::eek::eek::eek:......

That clock really is ticking, isn't it? :scared1:

Looks like everyone in this house needs to get motivated - soon!! Yikes!

Am I supposed to have my gifts wrapped already? It's only December 1st! :lmao: I don't think I wrap my gifts until middle of December at the earliest. Though I did ask my mom tonight if she thought it was too early to start wrapping the gifts that I had for DD. It's her first Christmas and I'm excited to put them under the tree :lovestruc

Tree went up today and I started putting on the lights but realized that 2 sets didn't work and had to make a run to get 2 new sets. I will finish that tomorrow and get the ornaments on. The rest of the house is decorated.

I'll work on my baking next week and I don't know about cards yet. Part of me thinks I should do a photo card with DD on it but :confused3 maybe just a regular card this year signed by me, DH and DD. Don't know yet.

Inside decorations - Done
Outside lights - Done
Shopping - Done
Wrapping - Done
Cards - Sent out
Cookies - Finish tomorrow
Shipping - Last to go out Friday

Now to have some Christmas fun!!!

Got all my shopping done and inside decorated, but my motivation is waning. Lol!

But I'm much further along than last year.

My goal was for an enjoyable December.

Sorry you got sick. I feel bad I should have fedexed you the evaporated milk.

You know ever since Nov 06 I have to make myself motivated to do anything.

Glad i am not the only one! ;) -- I won't wrap probably until the last minute as usual- but with the girls getting out of school on the 10th for break my "Santa Time" is almost gone ! :scared1: I think the main reason is last yr we were at WDW for 10 days before Christmas and I was excited to get everything finished before we left , I guess I don't have anything to push me this yr.

I am absolutely horrified by this thread.

I vowed I would be in the Christmas spirt this Christmas season, WHEN THE CHRISTMAS SEASON ARRIVES. And that isn't for another 10 days or so. Holiday season growing up always about 2 weeks before Christmas, through New Years.
This year has been the worst. Sears/WalMart/Macys starting Black Friday sales the Friday BEFORE HALLOWEEN. One of my favorite radio stations went 24/7 Christmas music on NOVEMBER 15!:scared1:

I don't want to see a Christmas list, hear Christmas carols, go to a Christmas party, or shop for AT LEAST another week. This is certainly is making it hard for me to uphold my vow.
All this holiday cheer in October and November may force me to go back to being......................

Silly goose..;) I am perfectly aware of how extremely sensitive my digestive system is and I should have known better than to try something different.. My mistake.. Live and learn..

Good news though! Since I first posted on this thread - in between reading and responding to other posts - my DGD and I got some stuff carried downstairs so tomorrow I can get going on dragging stuff out of the living room and getting everything set up again in my bedroom! So - I'm making progress..:goodvibes

I think I am depress this holiday season. Okay I have all my shopping done. I am trying to get motivated put the Christmas tree up. It cold as h@ll outside. I am freezing. Okay anything below 68 degrees is cold for a southern. LOL I start new job that grateful for. I am trying to learn all new things.

It happens to all of us from time to time.. Just can't seem to "get with the program".. Then something happens that changes our mood and all is well..:)

What I did in order to get in the Christmas spirit and get my shopping done online while I was still up to the lake was to change the "skin" (I think that's what they call it) here on the DIS to the "holiday" setting.. It's so pretty - all decorated in red and green.. Have you done that yet? Might lift your spirits a little..:goodvibes

Hope everyone is feeling a little more festive and motivated soon..:santa:

To the OP..don't worry, I haven't shopped....not one single thing. Don't usually do anything before Thanksgiving anyway. We did manage to get the lights on the house last weekend at least. :santa:
Some years are tougher than others, and you kind of put yourself on auto pilot and do what's gotta be done. This just might be one of those years. Don't be so hard on yourself.

I got nothing this year. Nothing. I had to have my beloved dog put to sleep last week, my developmentally delayed daughter has been acting out at school and has had detention this week, we are no longer welcome to have her tutor work with her at school afterschool because she has been so disruptive (private school, 45 min. from home). I need to find either another tutor who will come to the house or else find another place for them to meet near her school, transport her, wait for 90 minutes and then drive her home-which isn't going to work........well, I guess you can see why I am running out of holiday spirit. Nothing. I got nothing.

I'm sorry..:( Really does sound like you have your plate full.. I hope things improve - soon!

I've felt that way some years.

The thing that shouts out at me is that your kids start break next week? :scared1: I'm assuming that they're in college? Still seems pretty early to me.
