COMPLETELY OT - How I Met Your Mother

I love HIMYM, but when it comes to Big Bang Theory I can't seem to watch it. I am sick of hollywood's portrail of geeks and nerds. And I say this as a geek and a nerd.

I'm with Annette on this one...

HIMYM is good....but Big Bang Theory is the funniest show on TV.

"Rock Paper Lizard Spock" is up there with some of the funniest bits ever....as is the episode when Penny gives Sheldon his Christmas present.

Jim Parsons so deserves an Emmy.

These are my 2 favorite shows.
HIMYM- you have to love Barney. Neil Patrick Harris is awesome. His timing is perfect. I loved the 'Slapgiving' from a couple seasons back..

The Big Bang Theory is the funniest show. Sheldon is the best. I loved the Christmas Present Episode. i could not stop laughing.

Slapsgiving was the best!

I loved last week's episode (when Barney had the fake family) and he made the comment about how child actors in the 80s were so much better & the Doogie Howser music played throughout the episode

Oh add me to the fan list I have loved this show from the beginning and my husband started watching it with me last year and got hooked too. Slapsgiving was the best I just haven't found the Big Bang Theory funny, geez now I feel like I need to give it another chance since you guys all like it so much. Hmm, we'll see I guess.

Like most others in this thread I love both of these shows. I would have to say that BBT is my favorite but HIMYM is a close second.

Penny: Yes, I know men can't fly.
Sheldon: No, no let's assume that they can. Lois Lane is falling, accelerating at an initial rate of 32ft per second, per second. Superman swoops down to save her by reaching out two arms of steel. Ms. Lane, who is now traveling at approximately 120 miles per hour, hits them, and is immediately sliced into three. equal pieces.

Heck no you're not alone!
That's our absolute favorite show, although we do love Big Band as well (also 30 Rock).
When the show first started Shanan and I didn't think we could get over Doogie being on the show. It didn't take long before we ever remembered he was Doogie! He's my favorite, but Shanan favors Marsmellow and Lily Pad.

I guess you never saw NPH in Harold and Kumar... He plays a raunchy version of the Barney character (He plays himself, but his personality in the movie is not himself)... in fact, it was his cameo in the Original Harold and Kumar that got him the role as Barney.

BIG BBT and HIMYM fans here. We've also watched both from the beginning!

Our favorite HIMYM episode is easily the bracket episode where they're trying to narrow down the one woman who's going around bad-mouthing Barney.

"I'm not sure...but I think I've SOLD a woman. I didn't speak the language, a guy handed me the keys to a Mercedes, and I left her there." I'm pretty sure there were some beverages coming out our nose on that one....

LOVE the NPH. We caught him at the Candlelight Processional in '07. Anyone see him in Dr. Horrible's Sing along Blog??

BBT is also good; mainly b/c they don't exist in a vacuum. They reference all the other shows/pop culture icons that are important to geeky/nerdy people.

Like us. I am definitely a nerd; I have the "rock, paper, scissors, lizard, paper, Spock" t-shirt! Try explaining it to someone who doesn't watch the show!

We also have been watching since the pilot. Can't wait to see what they pull off for the finale next week.

We love it and the Big Bang Theory. My husband is so much like the guys on BBT that it makes us laugh so much each week.

I love both these shows too! I love the "slap bet" episodes of How I Met Your Mother. Marshall really gives Barney such a SLAP!
