For the past 2 evenings we have had a kid (12-16 year old) bang against our patio window so hard that we somethines think he is trying to break in. Well, I only know it is a kid because I caught him getting ready to hit it again. I shined the flashlight at him and I tried to get a good look at him. Well, needless to say it has upsent my fiance (who has panic attacks) and me to the point that we have asked our apartment manager to see about a 2nd floor apartment. We decided to go ahead and make the change (same rent $700), but it makes things quite difficult on us. We are on our wedding/disneymoon August 7-13, then my wife will help her sister move in for college the next weekend, I start teaching again that next week, then we will make our move August 26th, and finally we have a reception for family who were unable to attend on Sept 3rd. I wish we were not moving because then alot of hassle would not have to be dealt with, but this is what she wants. I am frustrated by the fact that we are moving for a punk kid. Tonight I am going to try to videotape him in the act and see if I can get him a little juvenile detention time...atleast a little payback for the harrassment he has put us through. No one else in the complex has this problem, so I know we are being targeted by this punk. I don't want all of this to ruin our wedding and honeymoon, but I can't seem to get past it. I'd rather just get this punk kid and stay in the same place. By moving we will lose our little patio, but we will gain some privacy. Does anyone have any advice? Extremely frustrated here.

sounds like your very busy & being inconvinienced by this kid. i too would try catching him, a video camera is a good idea or if you can manage to be outside watching. if you catch him you can report him for disturbing the peace & curfew, i know i would. just know youre not alone all complexes have their issues, maybe the move will work out for the best. have you looked at other apartments in the area, a friend of ours lives at the fairways near diehl & he loves his place.

i would def. try to catch the little brat in the act! that is not cool, especially in this day and time, you never know what even kids are going to do. but, moving wouldn't be so bad. try to look at the positives instead of the negatives. I am in a second floor apt. and love it b/c of the privacy. no one walking by, no noise of ppl walking around above us, and stairs give great exercise! good luck! :thumbsup2

I'm sorry to hear about your problems. I lived in a basement apartment and definitely wished I had taken an upper floor due to the privacy issues -- always looking at people's feet walking by, hearing their conversations, and hearing the entrance door slam all the time! Maybe it'll be a happy change, but I definitely hope you can get this little brat! Good luck!

Try a regular camera, that way you can sneak up on him. Make sure the flash is on so that he will not be scared and run off. I live on the 2nd floor, I love the privacy, expecially since my cat goes on my patio, but I hate the stairs. Groceries, moving, and just plain shoping, I hate carrying things up stairs. I had to do it alot since right after my DF & I moved in he was in a bad accident and hurt his back really bad & I had to do all the lugging. Oh yeah heavy garbage bags are the worst. So I know exactly what your not looking forward too. I doubt this kid will get in serious trouble. But it is enough to put a restraining order on and he can be arrested, at least temporarily, for violating that order. Sounds extreme and troublesome, but it is the most efficent way I could see this going out. Good luck!

We tried a video camera last night and the little punk didn't show up. Maybe I scared the crud out of him enough to not try it again. Either way,. we have decided to move August 26th. The good thing is we are going to be in the same building, just up one floor. The bad thing is we won't have a patio, or a balcony for that matter. Unfortunately the complex we live in doesn't have apartments with balconies, but as long as my fiance (wife in 14 days) feels safe I'd rather do what is necessary for her. Thanks for all the advice everyone :)
