Been over to the Theme parks boards:confused3...yea I know, I should stay away but you know, it's like lays potato chips....you just have to read one more:rotfl2:...where else but Disney would people complain about having LONGER park hours? I mean come on, if I went to WOF, Six Flags, or Universal and they announced that they were opening a hour early I would be jumping for joy not "now my trip is ruined" maybe some of them need to join the camping crowd or just take a chill pill? :)

I agree 110%. I have spent way too much time reading and searching about fast passes and other related park topics to send me close to the nut house this week. So much panic and negatively I read up on from the posts it drove me to being worried sick about making my selections. I sure didn't drive myself sick last year when making my FP selections nor did I stay up until midnight to do so. The more information I searched for the more it bothered me. I joined to get more info about the camping side of Fort and I did! I feel good after reading the camping posts and seeing all the camping pictures. I think I will try to stay clear of the negative aspects of the FP system.

Our trip is not do or die by a fast pass selection nor is A&E nor is MT. We have been watching the progress of MT for the past two years through the little peak holes and excited yes but nothing to go postal over (haha). Same with A&E, last year it was a 3 hour wait in Epcot and my DD was more excited about other things so that was good. Yes she would like to meet them but she is just happy to go and just turing 6. Her trip is made pool side and making sure we brought along her art supplies and that is fine by me :) Her idols are famous painters not princesses.

I was a worried mess about not obtaining FPs in time and I had nothing to worry about. Last night we were able to make our FP selection and scored MT fast passes for each day of our trip and a few A&E meet and greets. I always error on the side of caution and have back up FP is something were to change in our schedule. I left many fast passes open cause really everything (except A&E and Mine Train) can be done with good timing and less than a 10 minute wait and without a FP.

Timing is key but I WILL NOT BE A SLAVE TO A SCHEDULE nor do I plan to listen to the haters.

Disney vacation to us is a 70/30 split. 70 for FW. If we couldn't obtain FW reservations then we just wouldn't go at all.

Count down is on FW and we are coming for ya!

where else but Disney would people complain
You mean people complain on the other forums? :rotfl2:

It can be down right brutal on some of them. As long as you go over there purely for entertainment value, it's good. When you start to take it all serious, it's time to come back to the Camping board for a reality check.

Negative
They can stay away from the camping forum.

Don't want that endless complaining and whining over here.

I will agree with that, I tell my DW some of those must be a real joy to vacation with.:lmao:Most of the them wouldn't understand the camping board anyway. Hope you're having a great trip, ours starts in 10 days, looking forward to leaving 5 degree weather and 3" snow. :drive:

Never a truer statement. It is hard to stay away because how silly many of the arguments are.
I also think they would not want to be on this forum. This forum is about helping other people and sharing the good things that happen while on vacation instead of picking a vacation apart to find what went wrong.

The camping thread seems very tranquil and serene. I think I'll try camping for a little bit just to join ya'll. :hippie:

Yeah, I get myself all frustrated reading up over there. We just went for a long weekend and stayed at Old Key West. It was our first time with all of this FP+ falderal so I spent some time on the parks board acquainting myself with everything.

It honestly wasn't as bad as I was anticipating! I kinda liked having some Fastpasses without having to get there right away to get them. We weren't big FP people anyway, but did like rope drop. We've decided that we still like rope drop. Not so much for getting on the rides, but the crowd levels. And for our upcoming trip I've got some Fastpasses booked, but I keep reminding myself that it doesn't mean we can't just stand and wait or make different choices. We skipped one day of fastpasses altogether last week, just like we did when we had paper ones and weren't in the right place when they came active. No biggie.

I will say I missed the Fort last week and can't wait for next month!

Going off topic on the off topic thread. With the extra hour and opening at 7 AM does the lake experience much fog at that time in the morning? If so have they ever not run the boat because the fog is too thick? I must say it would sound fun to go to MK at that time of the morning with a slight fog hanging over the lake.

Be careful over here, there could be some really heavy squirrel discussions. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

We've been up for an early rope drop in the MK and had it all cool and foggy, but the boats were running. I don't know if they have a fog threshold, but I wouldn't worry.

Welcome and I'm pretty sure you don't have to be a camper to enjoy this place or the Fort. FW has so much to offer that a lot of people will come over for the day or drop in for an evening at HDDR or the campfire/movie.

We may be a little wacky about squirrels, but after a week camping at the Fort and watching their antics, you'd be a little wacky too.

Too funny! Is that your body guard for this trip? :lmao:

He was too scared to attend this trip. He opted to stay with family and chase cats instead. Figured it was a lot safer.

Our first stay at FW, in a cabin, is coming up in 25 days and I have to say I come to the camping forum more than any other here. It's just so much more laid back than the other forums.

I really don't get why people are so worked up over the hours being changed when it's been the practice year after year to extend hours during the busiest of times. Personally, we make our plans and then we just roll with it. We're still getting to go to WDW and have an amazing vacation. Shoot, my vacation will probably be better since I haven't scheduled every minute of it.

Luv Tink. We will be there from Dec 1 to 16. Hopefully I'll figure out how to post our site so if you can catch us, stop by and say Hi! :wave2: Since we are 1500 miles away, we can't just hop to Disney whenever the mood strikes, this trip is a birthday trip (we both turned 60 this year) and also a anniversary celebration trip (41) so yes we will be having buttons and I don't care who likes it or not and it isn't on the exact day :rotfl2: We go with the flow too, made a few ADR for some things we haven't did before, booked dessert parties, (are they overpriced? Yep, but I'm on vacation) So far we have every other day as a off day so we don't get overtired like the last time. We are going to have a fantastic time!:cool1:

See, this is why this group of campers is so great! We'll be in a cabin with our three daughters from Dec 13-26 and we will have a golf cart to check out all the decorations.

I keep telling DH that we'll probably never want to stay anywhere else on property after this trip to FW. Someday, when we don't have to worry about school schedules anymore, I hope that we'll be able to drive our own RV to the Fort from Western WA for a lengthy stay.

Happy birthday rajak (you old man you). :bday:party:

I lurk the Restaurant Board and see several regulars from the Camping Board helping folks with questions about Trails End and Hoop Dee Doo (lots of questions there). But that's the only other Board I look in on (I skip all the threads about BOG which means there are only a few left over to read ).

The Camping Board has a good vibe. And all the trips and reports we've had this fall gives it a very current feel. My hats' off to you all. :worship:

Thanks for the Bday wishes. The down side is that when we go out to eat, them young whippersnappers give us the senior discount without asking.:rotfl2:First time we will be eating at trails end this trip, going to surprise DW with a anniversary cake! Upside is, since our kids are grown and we are small business owners and winter is our slow time, we are a lot more flexible of when and how long we can go.
O, and yes we are wearing celebrate buttons just to make the moral police on the theme parks boards mad.
