**COMPLETED 4/30**Life Is Way Too Short to Take It Slow - October 2013 TR

Great start to your first day in Disney and at DHS! :thumbsup2

I think I've missed a turn or two at Disney and ended up on the other side I-4 a couple of times. :lmao: Sometimes it's easy to miss an exit or turn because each sign has about 4-5 resorts/parks listed on it and you have to read fast!

I did notice a lot of those photo frame prop at many of the Photopass spots.

Lol you do have to read fast! The first year that we drove, before our trip even started, I had google-mapped the exact route of EVERY destination we wanted to drive to - parks, resorts, DTD, etc. We didn't get lost so apparently it wasn't too crazy of me.

YAY DISNEY!!! Hey, it's the famous sign we could both see from our Pop rooms! ;)

Oooh, my guess is that you bought some Klondike bars. Bahaha I'm just kidding... they don't sell those at Disney! Anyways, cuuuute PP pics! :)

I honestly can't recall if they've been doing the two-car thing for long at GMR, but they were definitely doing it in May. Who knows?

My guess is that your first FP+ reservation is for your Tower!

Bahahaha Klondike bars. No it's not that. It's probably something that no one else in the world would notice but me. Or make the connection. Or even mention it. But you'll have to wait until day 6 or so to find out about that craziness.

I do not like the two car thing. Unless I am in the first car. :snooty:

I wish I was on the Tower of Terror right now! But you'll just have to wait and see. :p

Could it be...Tower of Terror?? It's either that or TSM.

And yay!!! I can see your pictures now!!!

Since we're going on a cruise in May I think we may skip Disney next year. But your TR is really making me want to go back...le sigh. If only I had unlimited funds and time off.

Glad you're finally in Disney!

I did switch photo sites! My photobucket was like 85% full and I had tried to upload an entire day and apparently it would've put me over my storage limit so it didn't upload ANY of them. So then I was like "Bye Photobucket. :wave2: My Dis-best friend can't see your pictures anyway. Good riddance."

I have more time off than funds. Which is SO depressing because I'm very anti "staycation". Like no. That's called a long weekend if you're just staying at home. Which is nice. But shouldn't be associated with any sort of "cations". And I just love getting out of town! But really...endless time off. We usually have to work holidays so we get the time to take on other days. Then we get personal time. Then we get vacation time. And then we also get sick time! All separate! The holiday and personal expire at the end of the year, but the vacation and sick accumulate and we get a few hours every pay check and it's just lovely...if only I could use it all on actual vacations.

The idea of people expecting you to direct them when there are clear signs cracked me up haha.
Absolutely no surprise that DHS was your first park! You got some great PP pics, but I must admit I don't really understand the frame thing. :confused3 I saw it in multiple places on our last trip and it just confused me haha.
Aww man, I can't believe they didn't add Mike in your MU topiary shot! That was my favorite magic shot of the trip!
I'm thinking ToT HAS to be your first FP+ ride! The idea of the GMR with a 25 min wait is baffling!!

I'm glad you found the humor in that. I suppose I can now, though at the time it was quite frustrating!

I love DHS! It is wonderful. I don't get the whole frame thing either. They would just hand them to us...and we were like okay. But I am kind of glad because I feel like so many of our PhotoPass pics are the exact same pose with different outfits and backgrounds. :rotfl: We're pretty creative in our picture taking.

I was pretty sad about Mike too! Like I know he's not the top scarer or anything but I still want a picture with him!

I'm surprised that you did go to HS first things first, but to each their own ;)

You did get some great pictures. Especially in front of the hat, those are awesome!

A FP+ ressie with Landon there? I'm going to go against the ToT for now and guess the one and only TSMM at the first FP+

Lol I am obsessed with DHS! But don't worry...we had park hoppers! :thumbsup2

It was finally time for our first FastPass+ reservation. Where exactly were we headed? I’ll give you a hint with this beautifully themed pin board.

That’s right...Toy Story Mania! I was over the moon about this FP+ ressie in particular. I mean, I didn’t get in the park until around 2pm and I was able to get on this ride? Fabulous, the perks of being a princess.

That was a picture of Mr. Spell WORKING. Except with the lighting, my camera wouldn’t capture the moment. I promise he worked though.

I love Andy’s drawings. I have this whole delightful box of Pixar art postcards and some of my favorites are his drawings. Like, move over Picasso, Andy’s the best. (Do I sound like an uncultured swine? HA.)

We hopped in line at 3:05 and were done by 3:22. HEAVENLY. (And yes, standby was the usual 120 at least.)

And we got Rex! I LOVE REX. I pretty much have spent every day since we returned home filled with the regret of not getting the Rex pillow pet for my own. Landon got the Bullseye one, but I really should’ve gotten the Rex one. WHY DO I TALK MYSELF OUT OF THESE THINGS?!

The scores. I was blue, Landon was red. I am consistently not good because I ride so infrequently. (Sad life, I know.) Landon, however, had made considerable bounds in his TSM skills. I believe his previous scores were 0, 4000, and 0. Garret beat us all. His first time ever...OF COURSE. I believe his score was around 128,000.

When we got out, we just casually stumbled upon some GREEN ARMY MEN. At first, the only ones we saw all had lines. Then I saw one all by his lonesome, so of course I hustled over there, leaving Garret and Landon in my dust and since no one could take my picture, I took a selfie. Yes. I was that girl. No shame.

Finally the boys caught up.

That ended up being one of my favorite pictures of the whole trip! So adorable.

After our fierce competition and socializing with soldiers, we were starving. I generally stick with Starring Rolls whenever I’m in DHS, especially since I know that the counter service spots get no love in DHS but we went with the first one we saw. And then we learned why they get no love. I’m looking at YOU, Studio Catering Company. NO LOVE.

So first of all...they were pretty dead and yet, still the wait seemed long. But that is really the most insignificant part of this let down. So, the wait for the food was longer than the wait to order. Again...whatever. But after all that time, they finally handed me the tray, sans drink. So then I had to wait longer. Then I finally make it to our table and realize they forgot our dessert. I most definitely wasn’t going back.

We got a kid’s chicken nuggets with yogurt and cookie with apple juice to drink. Since we had a highly anticipated ADR that night, Garret and I just ordered one thing to share. We got the buffalo chicken sandwich with fries and a sweet tea. Should’ve also come with chocolate custard but apparently they couldn’t handle the hordes of the 4 families in line at that time.

The food was edible. it was kind of hard to share. We had to adjust because it started out that my half of the sandwich had the most meaty part of the chicken, where Garret’s half was mostly just breading. He was now completely skeptical of Disney food considering how highly I had talked it up FOR YEARS and now we had this letdown. Luckily it was only a meal to sustain us until dinner so it was okay in the end. I, however, cannot recommend the place. Slow service (during a dead time, no less) + forgetting multiple things + sub par food = a thumbs down from me.

After eating, it was just about time for another FastPass+ reservation! This time, it was for Star Tours! I was sooooo excited for this because I haven’t been on since before the refurb!

When we got there, our FP+ time was still 15 minutes away, but the standby line was only 10 minutes! So we jumped right in the standby.

We got through the line in exactly 7 minutes. (I was very precise with my timing, on occasion. You’re welcome.)

Now my Star Tours understanding is that there is like a bazillion different rides you can get, right? Because there’s 3 different scenes that can change every time? So...I’ll be very detailed (well...as much as someone who has never seen Star Wars can...) and you guys can tell me if we were either unlucky or I just don’t know what I was supposed to be looking for? I’m talking to you, Kylie. Lol.

So the ride started and we got C3PO accidentally driving the thing we were in. Darth Vadar says “You most certainly aren’t going anywhere because there’s a rebel spy in your midst and I will use the force to get them into my clutches.” But then we are stronger than the force and get away. We go to a forest-y place that is clearly home to Ewoks. I know this based on the amount of cute teddy bears dressed in hoods. Next, we splash into some water and I see Jar Jar Bing (Binks? I don’t know) and then we see some stuff underwater and then when we get out, we crash into this garage on the shore and hit a plane that an alien is working on? Which is where we get off, after the alien and C3PO have some words. (And from my count, I thought the C3PO would’ve been the standard beginning, so I was expecting 3 additional scenes and only got the 2? Am I wrong with this counting?)

Then, right after, we decide to use our FP+, especially considering it’s supposed to be different every time.

So we are back on. C3PO accidentally is driving, Darth Vadar wants our ship, we escape. Just like before. Then we go to this marvelous battle on a snowy planet with the gigantic robots that walk and shoot things. It was intense and I loved it. We slid down a mountain...and then we escaped that planet. And where do we end up again? UNDERWATER WITH THAT JAR JAR GUY before crashing into the alien guys plane!

After two back to back trip, I only noticed one different scene. Not even two, let alone three. I don’t get it. STAR TOURS, WHY DO YOU NOT LOVE ME? Maybe Tower of Terror has not informed Star Tours that I am the Princess of Hollywood Studios. Or maybe ToT is just scared of me loving another ride more, but let’s be real...that’s just not possible!

Speaking of which...where do you think we were headed next? And would my DHS luck turn around? (Side note: I usually have crazy good luck at DHS. I can explain next time.)

We are big DHS fans too, so I love that you made that your first park choice! I am not too thrilled about the whole FP+/MM+ stuff just yet, mostly because we are offsiters, but it is pretty nice that you can still get on TSM that late in the afternoon.

As for Star Tours, I believe there are 4 different things that change. The very first scene when you are taking off can be Darth Vader or the Stormtroopers, you just happened to get Vader both times, I guess. The first planet has multiple scenes. Then someone brings you a message about the rebel spy, and that can change too (I think Princess Leia, & Yoda are a couple of possibilities), then the second planet has multiple scenes. With all those combinations possible, it really stinks that you had such similar rides! I seem to get Jar Jar Binks a lot too. :sad2:

I'm impressed with Kylie. She always knows the Star Tours scenes. I don't have a clue. As long as I see Darth Vader, I'm happy. I don't know all these new characters and scenes nor do I care. Stick to the original movies George Lucas, ya greedy pig! Ahem.

You should've gone to Pizza Planet! That's the only CS place we've ever done at DHS and it's become a tradition.

I'm on the fence about going to Disney next year. It's not a long weekend type of place and that's what I want to do for my birthday. I think I may go over to the dark side and stay at Universal for a few nights instead. I really want to see the new Harry Potter stuff. But I have this cruise to pay off first before I can make any other plans!

Haha, the only reason I know anything about the different scenes in Star Tours is because of my nerd boyfriend! I don't remember the last time I watched a Star Wars movie :-X
And Khertz is right-- there are 4 different segments. We got Darth Vader and the Han Solo intro pretty equally, but usually the Wookie planet for the first scene (and Hoth, the ice planet with the ATATs, apparently the "best" one only once). It's Yoda, Leia, or Admiral Ackbar who talk to you about the rebel spy, and then the last scene is the Gungan planet (Jar Jar BINKS ;)), space battle, or Boba Fett & Darth Vader.
I totally agree with Jenny-- Pizza Planet is where it's at for DHS CS!
I honestly can't believe how many rides you went on before your beloved TOT!!

Joining in! I'm also the mom of a five year old and she really did get to be the Princess of Hollywood Studios at the Beauty and the Beast show on our visit to Hollywood Studios! :goodvibes

I'm going to make your son jealous: This is a picture of the Williams General Store in Philadelphia, MS. It's about thirty miles from my house and is owned by Eli and Peyton Manning's grandparents. Occasionally, the one of the brothers will visit for autographs.

I've never been too excited about the food options available at DHS. I think of all the parks it's the weakest when it comes to dining.

Once at Disneyland I got "randomized" to the exact same 4 sequences on Star Tours two times in a row. And it was my least favorite combo. No Darth Vader at the beginning. Pod Racing. Admiral Ackbar hologram. And the Underwater Jar Jar Binks. It was bad enough that I had to suffer through the film atrocity that was The Phantom Menace in 1999. Boy that takes me waaaaay back. Having to live through that twice on the ride twice in a row was just pure torture! I wanted to yell out "I want my Fastpass back!" :lmao:

Hope you had better luck with ToT which is my favorite ride too in all of WDW!

OMG TOY STORY MANIA! I was gonna guess that since it's my favorite but obviously on your TR it doesn't matter what MY favorite is, so I went with yours! Darn. Oh well. That pin board is perfect.

Apparently Mr. Spell working is a thing now! Hooray!!!!

HAHAHAHAHA, Jar Jar Bing!

Instead of going through the front, center doors, the line was snaked around outside and going through a side door. Strange. We jumped in line at precisely 2:11 and the wait was posted for 25 minutes. I was handed the VIP card...or wait time card, whichever you prefer to call it. When I get it, I prefer to call it the VIP card.

So we got inside. They had two lines going - obviously one for cowboys, one for gangsters. I always forget which one is supposed to be more “rare”. I feel like I’ve gotten them both semi-equally, but maybe not.

We were loaded onto our car at 2:33, so just under the 25 minute mark! Perfect.

IMG_1128_zps45700c40.jpg

They must have been REALLY busy that day. The tour guide was guiding two cars at once today. Is that normal? Or have I always just been really close to the tour guide? I really didn’t like it that way, because some of the movie scenes are really close together and so she’d be talking about a scene we couldn’t even see yet almost constantly in the beginning. I still loved it! GMR is a good one, if you ask me.

After our journey through the movies, we took a quick bathroom break and it was finally time to head to our first FP+ attraction. Any guesses on what it was?

The side entrance has always been used when it's busy (when it's really busy, extra stansions will be set up to the side of that).

Also, the vehicles have always been set up with 2 cars (front half, and back half). When both shows are running, there will be 4 cars in total.

FP+ & all that definitely has it's pros and cons. I thought for the most part the pros outweighed the cons, but the changes I've already heard about since then make me re-consider. The whole tiers and all that sounds awful. Like I have to pick Test Track OR Soarin'? Horrendous. Because I was there and Epcot was always packed NONSTOP, like crazy packed, and everything was a walk on except those two. Like FP's just aren't that necessary there. Waste of a FP+ day, imho. Oh well.

Oh yeah, I didn't even realize the rebel spy part was a different scene. We got Yoda both times as well. Kinda humorous now how similar they ended up being!

I'm impressed with Kylie. She always knows the Star Tours scenes. I don't have a clue. As long as I see Darth Vader, I'm happy. I don't know all these new characters and scenes nor do I care. Stick to the original movies George Lucas, ya greedy pig! Ahem.

Lol...yeah I have no idea about anything Star Wars.

I SHOULD HAVE GONE TO PIZZA PLANET!!

Lol well if you want to go for a weekend and be fancy...I may or may not be able to help you out.

I feel so enlightened! I was just shocked we only got 1 different scene. Of course. :upsidedow

Don't worry...ToT next!!! :lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc

How fun that she was the Princess of Hollywood Studios! That sounds like a complete dream come true!

We are both jealous!! We LOVE the Mannings in the household! We recently watched Book of Manning, about their dad and all 3 sons and it was so inspiring! What great people!

Yes, it definitely is the weakest...but I still usually find something I like. Backlot Express was no good though!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who got "randomized" to the same thing back to back! Though...yours sounds even worse then mine! What luck we have, eh?

But don't worry...my luck improves! :thumbsup2

LOL I would've been fine with ToT first but when I scheduled the FP+ they just gave me times to choose from for all 3 at a time, and that's what ended up first. It worked out well though, because I think Landon would've been scared of rides the whole time if we started with ToT! :rotfl2:

Oh yes...Chandler's cousin, Jar Jar Bing! HAHAHA. Obsessed with Friends much?

The side entrance has always been used when it's busy (when it's really busy, extra stansions will be set up to the side of that).

Hmm I must have always gotten the front then and been too excited to notice the 2nd car!

Happy Thanksgiving, my dear readers! I hope you had a day full of good food, good company, and good memories! We had a magical time here, with multiple great meals! We completed the night with putting up the Christmas tree!

Its been a pretty busy past week here...we finally moved to our new apartment and I LOVE it. We have a lot more room and once we were all finally moved in, I unwound in the garden tub with some salts from Basin and a nice glass of Lasseter Winery Enjoue! Delightful!

And now back to the TR!

**************************************************

We left off as we were walking down Hollywood Boulevard towards this beautiful sight.

IMG_1130_zps292ca3b0.jpg

Landon was pretty psyched out for his first ride on the Tower of Terror...it can be pretty intimidating. Garret tried to ease his mind by telling Landon that it was more fun than scary, to which Landon retorts, "Like a dinosaur?!" So, thats now basically my favorite description of that Hollywood Tower Hotel now. "And here we have my favorite ride ever, the Tower of Terror. But dont worry folks, its more fun than it is scary...ya know, like a dinosaur?" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

We also went standby. Our FP+ was about an hour away, while standby was 30 minutes. So we opted for that.

And since I was FINALLY reunited with my beloved hotel, and I had some time to kill, I took a bazillion pictures of the grounds and the hotel. SO BEAUTIFUL.

Peek-a-boo, I see you!

Which way will you go?

My boys!

***CONTINUED IN NEXT POST***

***CONTINUED FROM PREVIOUS POST***

I want to be in the Tip Top Club. In fact...I just joined. BAM.

Sigh. I really miss the Tower of Terror. I hope you can feel my love through my photographic journey. I just love the detail. The grandeur. The mystery. The wonder. The eerie atmosphere. All of it. Its just perfect. I AM IN LOVE WITH A RIDE, OKAY?! I can't help it.

So we were finally queuing up for our elevator. Very exciting that we were celebrating Landon's 5th birthday and he was #5. Fate.

And then we rode. And it was really freaking magical. OF COURSE IT WAS. Did anyone expect anything less?

So, we were of course asking Landon how he liked it. He was saying something along the line of "It was a little fun" and then...a wonderful blonde girl turned around and ASKED HIM IF HE WANTED TO RIDE AGAIN!! UM...YES PLEASE!! (She had ridden the ride with us. She seemed to know the CMs and advised them, but did not re-ride herself.)

We were then lead to the working elevator...aka the chicken exit...and got our pick of rows. First please! And then we rode again. OMG I WAS FLIPPING OUT BOUNCING OFF THE WALLS HAPPY OVER THE MOON WITH JOY AND MAGIC AND IT WAS SO PERFECT!! Like...seriously, it was SO PERFECT that this happened after OVER 2 YEARS of not riding. But lets be real...this special treatment happens more often then not on this ride. I swear it...ToT LOVES ME BACK.

And without further adieu, Landon's first and second ride pictures.
In the first, we were in the back on the right. I am trying to film Landon, which as you can imagine, didn't turn out very well. The enchanting re-ride giver was one of the three girls in front of us. I don't know which one...but thank goodness for her!

I love this one...glad we asked for the front!

Landon looks like he cant truly can't decide if its fun or not. I love it!

I had to stop by the gift shop. I purchased a new bathrobe because I got my last one in 2010 and WORE IT DAILY so it was getting a little tattered. I also got a purple shirt that is now my favorite shirt. What can I say? Im obsessed!

Im going to mark that one down as a success!

So with our hearts full of joy, we skipped out of Hollywood Studios. We did stop and get a Sprite. Landon also got a free birthday cookie! I am so pleased to see that my heir inspires just as much magic as I do. Big Hollywood Studios fans here!

You cant start a day off in Disney without hitting up the Magic Kingdom though! So we hopped a bus over to the TTC and then monorailed it over to the MK!

We grabbed some Sorcerers of the MK cards and then started wandering. I checked wait times on my phone and everything was pretty bad. Garret's love for Disney is still in development so he's not content just meandering about and soaking in the atmosphere. He wanted to get on something, even if we had to wait.

I'm usually one who NEVER waits standby. (FP snob here.) But...I was in my favorite place with my two favorite people...I really didn't care what we did. So we jumped in the Splash standby, which was 45 minutes.

And Landon hid from the camera on his first ride on Splash. Oh well.

After, we asked what his favorite ride was so far. His reply? "My favorite ride is the monorail!" My little Disney goofball!

We didn't have time to ride anything else, but we did grab a fast pass for later! We had a dinner to get to!

Wow that's a lot of pictures of ToT! How do you always get to re-ride?? I'm lucky if I get on that ride twice during a trip. Then again I only spend one day at DHS. I'm an MK and Epcot kind of gal.

Haha, Landon's face is hysterical in the second ToT ride shot!! So many different emotions on his face!
45 minutes for Splash at midday isn't too bad!

Hope you're having a great Thanksgiving weekend!

I'm hoping to convert our DD7 to being a ToT fan in January. I can't get enough of that ride and I think she'll enjoy it once she can get past the whole fifth dimension preshow. That lobby of the Hollywood Tower is full of little goodies to take pictures of. Just love it!

Even though ToT scares me, I do have to admit that it's a very beautiful attraction. And your son is so much braver than I am. You still can't catch me on that ride.

Look at Landon conquering ToT! :) What a smart boy, counting the monorail as a ride. IT IS A RIDE. Hahaha

Lol my son says the monorail train is his favorite ride too! Last week while in wdw we left the magic kingdom 3 times just for him to ride it! He loved it! Next time I may not even need tickets. He is happy riding that and a Disney bus!!! Boys!

Thank you! It's definitely spooky…hopefully I haven't traumatized Landon for life by forcing him on because I need him to like it! He still says it was "a little scary and a little bit fun". :rotfl:

I definitely agree about it's beauty! We will see if he is brave next time and wants to go again!

Being on ToT with Landon was pretty much the best moment ever. :cloud9:
He has always loved the monorail! We got one of the transportation trading cards of the lime green monorail in 2011 and it had Mike Wazowski and so he always calls the lime green one the monster-rail. :lovestruc This trip we asked for me and we got princess monorail cards. He was less than enthused.

Can't blame those boys! The monorail is pretty fun! Landon grew obsessed with riding in the back of buses this trip. It's funny how much boys love things that move!
