I go to pay my Verizon phone bill. I did it over the phone with one of their phone reps. This was on Saturday. The payment was for two hundred dollars. On Tuesday I look at my checking account on line I see two more payments of two hundred dollars has been deducted. I call right away since I don't have a spare 400.00 laying around. The rep says I'll take care of that . I'll have a request put in right away and you should see a credit in 24 hours. I check the next day no credit. I get another rep on the phone. This one says I't takes 24-72 hours. I am starting to get really upset. To take a payment out, there is know problem, but to correct their error it becomes an impossible feat. I again call 2 days later the new rep says she dosen't even see a request. So he then says I will take care of it with my supervisor we will have this back to you in 24 hours. As of today no credit. I talked to a supervisor who then tells me I don't know who you spoke with but this could take a week. Seven buisness days excluding the weekend. She informs me her hands are tied. The request has to go to two different states, they review it with the bank and then it's put back. Isn't that great! She then proceeds to tell me we are sorry but we are all human. First of all ,all the reps need to be on the same page. You don't tell the customer 24 hours ect.. You say it will take a week. So the angry customer dosen't expect her hard earned money in 24 hours. What I want to say is the next time I make a payment I'll say to them ,now I'm not sure if my payment will be there in a day ,week, two, you know times are tight just keep watching I'm sure it will get to your state soon. You know what they will do! Within two seconds disconnect me.

We had the same thing happen with Verizon, except they kept the second payment and applied it to our next bill!! We use direct payment and they pulled out two! They told me 8-10 business days to get the check that never showed.:headache:

edited to correct massive typing errors due to typing with one hand.

Isn't that always the case with most companies? Whatever helps their bottom line, they'll do.

My not-for-profit company does that too, but in a different way, sorta. They require payment for services rendered within 30 days. I guess that's normal. But they allot a 60 day turn-around-time for payment dues! So, people must pay us within 30 days of service rendered but vendors won't get their money until at most 60 days after receiving the bill. Of course, those who make that policy don't have to deal with angry vendors requesting payment.

Whatever helps their bottom line.

I would definitely call my bank and notify them of the problem. Verizon should also be notified that if you bounce a check because of their error that they will have to pay for the bounce check fee. Yes, they may be human but they need to know the consequences of their mistake.

I did call the bank, they said since it wasen't fraudulent, nothing could be done. I did tell Verizon that if a check bounced they would be paying for that also. ( that would probably arrive in 2-3 weeks) I don't want anything to bounce,so I have it covered but what a rotten thing they have done! Even the bank said they could reverse the charge so it would get credited faster.

It happens to me all the time. :( I made a $700 payment to Disney using my checking account and they deducted twice. Not only did I not really like losing double what I thought I was paying, but since I was using a different checking account, that i only keep a small amount in for "fun money" it knocked me overbalance.

I contacted my bank and Disney. Eventually it got sorted out. I say call your bank first, make sure they know what happened. Then call verizon, ask to speak to a manager and keep on them until they reverse the other two charges.

Funny thing is it also happened at Disney to me. They did have a credit put through rather quickly though. I should know better than to use my debit card. When you use your credit card it dosen't tie up your money, and they can very quickly reverse the charges. With a debit card they are taking your money right from your checking account. It could cause alot of problems if the funds aren't avaliable. And alot longer to put the money back. As I now know very well.

A grocery store did this to my mom. They deducted $75 from her account 4 times.

Banks aren't all that great either! I paid my car insurance using online checking last month - or at least that's what I told it to do & I have screen dumps of the transaction to prove it.

I got a late notice on the insurance before I realized what had happened. They sent the $$ to Chrysler for a car payment! (or rather 2!)

The bank said call Chrysler & Chrysler said call the bank - back & forth several more times. Never resolved. We'd have been bouncing checks if DH hadn't gotten paid for some outside work he did.

YIKES! Makes me not want to even try on-line banking. We still write checks and mail them in the little envelopes!

BTW - I HATE Verizon! I hate that we're locked into the stupid "share" plan that doesn't have enough minutes for my 2 sons - if we want to add minutes, we have to extend our contract with them. I have no intention of funding my grown sons cell phones indefinitely!

I have had to extend my contract due to minute problems also. I have two teenagers . But I think Verizon is the worst. If you have to go to the Verizon store for problems, forget it. You'll have to wait at least 1hour for service. If I could eliminate these phones I would. The only reason I keep them is to keep in constant with my kids. Not sure what my parents did when I was a teenager??Probably saved alot of money!!!
