I just did a quick scan of active threads on the first page. Threads related to FP+ all have between 300-600 posts (most of them closer to 600 than 300). Threads addressing non-FP+ topics all have between 0-50 posts (most of them closer to 0 than 50).
To me, the takeaway is that FP+ is a big deal. It's a big, fairly contentious deal that people are discussing a lot.
I don't get the "complaining about the complaining" complaints. No one is forced to read or post on these threads. Yet, despite all the complaining about their existence, they are getting the most traffic. Should this surprise anyone? This is the biggest news to come out of WDW in a long time.
To hear some people describe the situation, everyone is just making a mountain out of a molehill. But it's not like we're debating about the size of drink cups being changed from 12 oz. to 10 oz. or the napkins going to a generic "Disney Parks" logo. We're talking about a significant change to the way all guests access the attractions. That is a giant pardigm shift for WDW and one with far-reaching implications that significantly impact people's vacations.
People on both sides of the debate have offered the suggestion that there be a locked sticky with "just the facts" about the current FP+ rules. I agree with that. I think it's a perfectly reasonable desire to have a resource where we can find "just the facts" pertaining to FP+.
What I don't understand is the desire to stifle all debate about such a huge topic. The most common reason I see stated is that people just don't want to be exposed to a contrarian viewpoint (i.e., "tired of all the negativity/whining/moaning/complaining/insert insulting term for anything that's not pro-FP+").
Complaining that there are too many FP+ debates on the DIS is like complaining that there are too many seminars on cavities at a dentist workshop. It's a highly relevant and timely topic. Of course, there are going to be a lot of debates about it.
