Complaining about the Fort???

So what's wrong with complaining...is there a law against it, or is it the American way ? As someone reminded me on my ice thread we are all entitled to our opinions. My ice thread was just a basic observation for conversational purposes and people had to go off as if I personal attacked their home, I stated in my thread that my tt had an ice maker and it was not a personal complain ,but people didn't want to read that part , just that I'm a complaining idiot that has never stayed at FW and you "ole timers" own this board and FW is ...blah,blah,blah...well some people might enjoy reading something different other than how FW is all sunshine and happiness, as of this writing my thread received 826 hits so someone out there has enjoyed something different, and if a thread offends you why can't you as an adult just pass it by ? So what if someone reports that the buffet is no good or there were cob webs..big deal, if it makes you mad read something else. They say no personal attacks on this board but we all know who your talking about when you make a comment toward a thread, or are we that stupid. Why must ever thread be how we LOVED FW, I get tired of reading the same "sunshine threads" over and over. I personal enjoy reading a " true life experience" of a trip, good and bad. People have gotten where they are so afraid to post the bad for the flames, so they alway state just the good...my goodness grow up, there is bad in every place on earth nothing is perfect, why must it be ? Why can't people discuss anything without getting so tore up about it, good or bad, if you don't see eye to eye so be it. How stupid was that ice thread that people have kept it on top for days now , do people really think I have sat at home crying over 2.00 a bag ice, I do have a life. And for you to start a thread so people can berate people that don't have a "sunshine post" is just plain mean, no matter how you dress it up .

I agree Terri, there should be nothing wrong with complaining even about Disney.....it's part of human nature :grouphug:

I love coming here to DIS camping to hear everyone's experiences good and bad. Aren't we are all here because we  Disney pixiedust:

Personaly, I don't mind hearing the bad. That's how I learn to try to avoid the bad. For me, I think complaining about no towels and soap, etc. is just silly, imo. Sure, it's Disney, but it's still camping. Towels, soap, shampoo, bandaids, and all that stuff is already in my camper and I wouldn't expect any campground to provide those things. 2.00 a bag for ice is a little steep, but, it's Disney, prices are going to be a little more. We're just excited we don't have to drop thousands of $ on flights, so 2.00 a bag on ice isn't too bad for us! lol It would have cost us 450.00 ea to fly home from FL.

Since this is my first time there, I have no clue what they've taken away or have added. I'm just exciting to be doing 2 of my favorite things together with my family.

As someone who isnt afraid to tell the good and bad, I dont really see what the fuss is.
Do we need a good old fashioned Fort Wilderness group hug ?
maybe we are all just Jonesing for some time at the Fort :thumbsup2

I don’t sugar coat it. I just posted a thread call “Bad FW Experience” yesterday telling follow reader about the bad things that happen on my last trip.

I've never stayed here, but we're thinking about it, what will I miss???

You will miss all of the fun if you don't go! One of the things that we enjoy is getting off of the boat after a long day of hustle and bustle at the parks and stepping into the relative peace and tranquility of FW.

When we go to DW and stay in a hotel, we come home after vacation exhausted. When we camp at the fort we come home only tired. It's so nice to leave the park and come back to your own rig, not a cramped hotel room. Nice to sit in yard chairs and watch the world go by. Nice to eat a precooked dinner I only have to pop in the microwave, or throw a couple of nice steaks on the grill instead of wasting a couple of hours in a restaurant. Great to know I can stay there for 2 weeks instead of one.

We've camped at FW for 20 years. Yes, I believe it's not quite as nice as when we first started. Not quite as clean or well organized. I don't miss the animals wandering around the campsites. Not having small children any more, I don't miss the animals at the petting zoo. IMHO it's still one of the greatest campgrounds in the world. Sure, it could use a little updating. It really needs some larger pads to accommodate the bigger rigs that are popular now. But my meager complaints won't stop me from enjoying every minute that I get to spend there!

I have never complained about the things FW has never had....only about the LONG list of things that have disappeared.

I agree. I've only complained about what has disappeared, too, with the exception of upgrading the pool. I think that would be really nice.

Ft. Wilderness is still the best place to camp. We love it. We would just like to see Disney continue to invest in this very popular resort.

Now, don't be hatin'. I was forced by my wife who wants to spend a week near her parents (who used to live in Florida, but now live in Western New York - figure THAT one out).

Sadly for me... WNY is home. :sad1: Which amusement park are you going to?

Nothing wrong with WNY - my wife and I both grew up there. I just can't figure out why my inlaws built a home in Sebastian, FL and 3 years later sold it and moved back to Buffalo. Anyway, we were looking into staying at the campground at Darien Lake.

WNY is ok. I too have lived here my whole life. I just wish it was warmer :) The Six Flags at Darien Lake is being sold. Not sure if you knew that. We've stayed there in the campground, but never stayed at Darien Lake State Park.

I didn't know that. Who are they selling to? I remember when it started prior to being sold to Six Flags. Is Fantasy Island still on Grand Island?

I don't know the name of the company they are selling it to. I remember hearing it is a real estate company based in Florida. They haven't announced much information yet at all. I have heard that Six Flags tickets will still be honored this summer, but I haven't read it anywhere. :confused3 Fantasy Island is still on Grand Island. FOr info on it, their complete name is "Martin's Fantasy Island" and I believe if you google it you will find their official website. There is a KOA there connected to Fantasy Island, but we have never stayed there. It looks wide open, not many trees. Where did you grow up? I grew up, and still live in, the Town of Tonawanda.

My wife grew up in West Seneca. I am a country boy from Collins.

6. A low key pool. I am not spending my hard earned Disney dollars trying to drag my kids away from the "wicked awesome" pool.

A parent after my own heart. The most pool time I want is slipping in to get refreshed at the end of the day!

As for you "other parks" campers - we're going to stay at Cedar Point by Lake Erie and I cannot believe how $$$ it is. Blech. We drove through once, and its a well manicured parking lot. But you know how it is, its DH vacation too, and he wants to try it.
