Complaining about the Fort???

Anyway, we were looking into staying at the campground at Darien Lake.
We stayed there a few years ago, just for a week-end and it was enough, the bathrooms were filthy, and it was very loud with a lot of drinking and fighting, we have not been back since then. My kids were really yound at the time, nto the best experience.

I heard that the state park is great, I lo love the NY State Parks, and we have tried quite a few of them.

We love Ft Wilderness campground. There is nothing I would change. No, it not the Grand Floridian but that is why we love it.

It still has a lot of natural beauty left. Is that not what camping is supposed to be about? Relaxing and enjoying nature. Most campground the sites are so close with no trees. The bathhouse's are more luxurious than the one in our motorhome.

If Disney would sell me permanent site, I would jump on it. :thumbsup2

A parent after my own heart. The most pool time I want is slipping in to get refreshed at the end of the day!

As for you "other parks" campers - we're going to stay at Cedar Point by Lake Erie and I cannot believe how $$$ it is. Blech. We drove through once, and its a well manicured parking lot. But you know how it is, its DH vacation too, and he wants to try it.

I hated that camp ground. There is no comparison to FW whatsoever. We went a couple of years ago and my dh asked for a shaded site since we did not want to be in the sun. Well they put us under the roller coaster and against the water park. That wasnt so bad as it closed down at 10:00 and you didnt hear the screaming all night. However the sites were so close that we could barely get into it and darn near hit our neighbor on one side with our awning and on the other side with our slide. There are newer sites that i believe are all pull throughs, but they are in the sun and more expensive.

The bathrooms were filthy and the laundry room smelled like fish. The pool was nice but at the time we were there (mid june), there were some type of locusts or something all over everything including the surface of the water in the pool. You couldnt walk anywhere or even swim because of them. We were only there a couple of days and the day before we left, they came around with trucks spraying something.

The park itself was awsome. I really enjoyed the roller coasters!!!

That's a good enough review for me. We're gonna pass on Darien Lake no matter what the price.
