Competitor's Banner Ad on the DIS

I just wanted to let the powers that be know that I keep getting a banner ad for "Off to Neverland Travel" here on the DISboards. The ad is to book WDW Free dining pakage through them.

I know you guys can't control all the ads, but I don't think you should have to carry a competiting travel agents ad.

Hope you can remove it! I would hate for a newbie to follow the link and lose a commision for DU.

Sounds like you are a victim of the evil "tracking cookie".

They're harmless, (usually) and what ever security program you are running should remove it during it's next system scan.

Yup, sounds like a generic add network with tracking cookies.

I run the web servers for a company that advertises through some of those networks. Since I check their sites frequently, when I go to other sites I'll often see ads for them because the tracking cookies know I frequent their sites...

hey guys..........i am not very savvy about these things, is that why i see WDW ads on just about every site i frequent?... i just thought they advertised on all of them and no matter who went there they would see the ads.

Nope...that's how they know and are displaying them. If you got rid of all your cookies, you'd see more generic ads for a while.

The wonders of technology. Yep. that is why the Disney ads are following you. I looked up Kevin's Sanuk shoes and they are still popping up on almost every site I'm on. Along with ads for my beloved Kona coffee that I am always looking for a deal on.....And no, I do not want to know what other banners show up the sites you go to Dalt.
