We are told we will likely be placed on 5th or 6th floor (due to concierge compensation) and in standard connecting rooms. Can anyone tell us what kinds of views are possible? In case this info is helpful, we plan to be there in mid-May of 2017 for one week.

Thanks in advance. :)

The hotel is so big that it varies. We had a standard room on the 4th or 5th floor. Not much of a view but we faced Goofy's Flying school ride. You can get a slight view of the rest of the park.

What do you mean when you say Concierge compensation ? And are you getting two rooms that are connected?

Yes, connecting rooms. We will have access to the concierge lounge and services.
We just are not sure what to expect or ask for in terms of views. Do these floors face Downtown Disney, park view, courtyard, woods?

There are so many different possibilities of what your view will be, it's impossible to predict. You will love it--concierge lounge is awesome.

Also, all anyone really wants to know is how and why you were comp'd.

LOL! Yes I do realize the curiosity.

We stayed at the DLH recently and things were not quite up to Disney standards. (Don't want to say unkind things though because we love Disney!) Wrote a letter, a nice one, and we were given a "We are sorry" trip! It was very unexpected and we are extremely grateful.:thanks:

So now we need to figure out where to request a room. I have followed the GCH super thread but I still don't really understand what the views will be.

Thanks to anyone that can help.

What a nice thing for them to do! Congrats on the upcoming "we are sorry" trip!

Got me curious what can be so bad. Did they forget to replace your toilet paper rolls? :)

That's awesome, OP! That must be really exciting!

That's what I'm curious about as well. Must have been really bad to get a free stay for multiple nights at the Grand Californian. I can't even imagine what would have been so bad that Disney would comp someone at least $1,000 (the value of a Grand Californian hotel room over several nights, not even accounting for concierge). Disney's customer service is amazing!

This was a VERY nice thing Disney did!

I don't want to bite the hand that feeds..... Let's just say for the amount of money we spent, things were not up to Disney standards.

The person that granted this magic was so nice, that I would feel bad being negative now! The customer service from this person was outstanding. We were treated with great kindness. (I did have to push a little for the concierge).:)

I'm hoping someone might have some info on the 5th floor layout. Such as quiet area?, Views? Pictures? Info on concierge food would be helpful as well. Do they offer protein with breakfast?

Thanks again everyone.

We had two connecting Concierge rooms during Spring Dappers Days. They were on the 6th floor overlooking the Courtyard where the monorail passes thru. They were very close to the Concierge Lounge and the elevators. We could watch the fireworks over the rooftop from our balcony .Rooms 6112 and 6114. We also had a Standard room 6113 overlooking the Valet parking entrance. All very quiet . I will try to find and post the pictures later after work. Hopefully you get something like this but the hotel is huge.I have had a Pool view room and a partial Park View where we were looking at the back side of the Corn Dog King sign. We really liked these rooms so close to the elevators and the Craftsman Lounge.

They change the food several times thru the day. For breakfast they had bagels and muffins, fruit , cereal ,cheeses, milk, orange juice , coffee, alot more but I only remember what I helped myself to. Don`t forget the mini fridge bottom left as you face the milk ,oj dispensers. They had soda and small boxed fruit punch that you can carry out to the parks or your room. Later in the day they had this Blue Moon cheese that was yummy. Across the room they had coffee and hot water and packets to make hot chocolate which we carried back to our room. And these tiny bottles of honey .

Thanks Jerryp49!

This is the kind of information I was looking for. Looking forward to pictures, that is nice of you to do that.

As far as the view, I would rather not look at the parking lot,:rolleyes1 but again I need to not push my luck! Close to elevators and the lounge sounds great. Any other ideas or tips would be great!

I keep hearing about people having to walk super long corridors looking for their room, that is something I'm trying to avoid.

I'm reading that they allow people to take snacks from the lounge and back to their room, is this so?

(Thanks for the link as well):)

Yep, you can load up plates and glasses and bring back to your room and just leave the dishes outside your door and they will take them away. I don`t drink alcohol , but they provide free an assortment of beer and wine.I remember my GrandDaughter loaded up on the tiny turkey sandwiches and wanted more but was embarrassed to go back for more so I went back and brought here another supply. The only time I didn`t like the room assigned to me was a Downtown Disney view. The drum beating was annoying , even with the balcony slider closed. When I called the front desk they said it goes on until 10pm.I said that was unacceptable and they moved us to a quiet Courtyard view.

I took more video than pictures and I don`t know how to load the video to this blog. Here`s some pictures. From the Craftsman Lounge toward the room, From the room toward the lounge, The patio below the lounge (they had a convention event going on, monorail was not running during our stay but when it was the other times we had the Courtyard view it was cool and not noisy ), Tip of Matterhorn and corner of Space Mt from lounge where you can watch the fireworks. They pipe in the sound,also...Looking from the Creaftsman toward room.jpg GrandDaughters on room balcony from Craftsman.jpg Looking toward Craftsman from room.jpg Youngest GrandDaughter on Craftsman balcony.jpg Patio below Craftsman.jpg Tip of Matterhorn from Craftsman.jpg

We had 3 rooms .The Standard view room we had overlooked the Valet parking and it really is not bad at all. You are up high enough that you don`t hear much and it offers a very nice view of the Disneyland Hotel. I would prefer the parking view over the Downtown Disney view due to the noise. You could ask for 6112 or 6114 ( or 5112 and 5114 ).The worst they could do is say sorry, no. Here`s a link with a room map :

Oh so grateful for the pictures! Fantastic!! This gives me a much better idea of what the courtyard view is. (I'm assuming where they put the convention tables is the courtyard?)

Do all the rooms have a balcony? LOVE THAT!

You sound a lot like me in the sense that the Downtown Disney thumping music was not my cup of tea! Is this location very close to the turnstiles for the parks? At the DLH it seemed like a long walk back to the hotel with sore feet!

That is great to hear about the lounge and the ability to take some snacks back to your room. I also would have gone back for the turkey sandwiches if I knew it was allowed8-)

Thanks again for your help I really appreciate it.

All rooms have balconies. Here are two maps showing the distance from the closest DLH to the main gate and from the elevators in the GCH to the main gate. The rooms we had are near the elevators. The entrance to DCA is right from the hotel into the park . Some advise , best not to use the GCH entrance to DCA for your EMH. There are only two turnstiles and it really backs up, especially now with metal detection going on.Best to use the DCA main entrance for your EMH , plus the DCA main entrance is closer to Carsland. The rest of the day the GCH to DCA entrance is a great shortcut. The maps are mislabeled . Where it says Downtown Disney Distrct is actually the roof of the GCH about where the Craftsman Lounge is.The GCH entrance to DCA is just above the word Spa on the map. D2.jpg D4.jpg
