Comparing YC Concierge vs. AKL Concierge - recent stays?

We've stayed at many of the deluxe resorts (Polynesian, GF, Beach Club, Boardwalk, AKL) and now I am curious about any recent stays at Yacht Club Concierge. We used to stay at BC prior to DVC, however we have never tried the Yacht Club. Any comparisons between the level of service at the YC Concierge vs. Animal Kingdom Lodge Concierge? I have the Contemporary 14th floor on my list as well; however I'd rather stay there after the rehab which I think is next year (?) for the Tower.

We're staying AKL concierge in September because we have really never found a negative review of it. I've not really seen much on the YC concierge though so I don't have anything to compare. Just thought I'd give you another bump.

I LOVE YC CL! I'd be interested in comparisons too though because we're staying 3 nights at AKL CL next year after our 7 night stay at YC CL. I'm returning to YC CL next week for the 4th year in a row. The lounge is smaller than other lounges but I like the "cleanliness" and decor. I also love the view from the lagoon view rooms and the full balcony. The IPO is the BEST on property and they are always surprising you with little bits of pixie dust. They get some of their food offerings from YSH too and the mussels and clams are always good. The location can't be beat!

L-O-V-E AKL concierge - it was my first years ago and I don't want to try anywhere else! The sunrise safari is an added perk. And the CMs, the best!

Any news from anyone else? Also we are now considering standard room YC due to the MYW deal with free dining. I figured since food was included and we visit every year we don't need concierge. However I'm now wondering YC w/o concierge feedback. The price difference of YC CL vs. MYW standard with dining/ticket made the package a better deal to my amazement. Since we've never stayed YC I don't know what I'm missing non CL there and a standard room. Are we going to get the terrible view I wonder and location....?

Hi,
We stayed at the AKL(Thanksgiving week) and enjoyed the concierge lounge. It was comfortable, the food was great and for some reason people behaved and had appropriate manners. The staff were terrific.

After 3 nights at the AKL we moved to the YC for 3 nights. The kids love the pool and the hotel has a great location. But the concierge lounge!!!! Ever see that credit card commercial where the barbarians are attacking to see "what do you have in your wallet"? Well the guests at the YC concierge could be related to those barbarians. I will stay at YC again, but never, never use the concierge service again. We had stayed 3 times previously and soo enjoyed it, but this last trip was a major turnoff. The staff said they were amazed at the behavior and how it has changed in the past year or so. The guests behave like clueless pigs.

Will be happy to use room service for breakfast and late night snacks. Probably works out the same or even cheaper and you avoid being grossed out.
Wish I could be positive, but this is how it was.

Can't compare as I've yet to stay at AKL, but I have done the YC cl. While I loved the IPO staff, I probably wouldn't stay at the YC cl again. I'm a big lounge person, not for the food, but for spreading out, relaxing with my book or the paper. There's was very small with a view of the parking lot. It also is only open during actual food service hours. We had extremely poor timing and always seemed to show up as they were clearing things out. We could grab a soda or snack, but had to take it back to our room to eat because they were closing the lounge doors. On the plus side, the beds were super comfortable, mousekeeping was excellent and the proximity to Epcot and MGM can't be beat. I would stay at the resort again, but not in concierge.

Thank you janetd for the comparison. I greatly appreciate the observations. We loved AKL CL. The staff was fantastic, the food was great. I wish the area were a little larger however even during the early morning there was plenty of space and the guests were all wonderful.

Thank you also TammiMcMan for the comments on the YC CL not being open all of the time. We are used to the lounge area being open and it's a nice rest area to just read the paper or stop off returning from a park. It never crossed my mind that it would be closed. 'Sounds very similar to the executive club floor at a Hyatt or Sheraton. I would have been very disappointed to learn that upon arrival so it gives greater food for thought and comfirmation that perhaps we should stick with a standard room.
