PROS:
It's cute it's fun and so vibrant!
They have lots of great varieties of food.
The shop right next to the food court for easy access.
The bldgs are pretty close to each other and not so far the main lobby.
The room is great! Just perfect for four people.
The room is very clean. Great mouskeepers.
The pool is awesome! We had fun! They have three pools and POP Jet!
Lots of family enjoying the resort. It's fun watching them have fun.
Great bus transportation. Fast and efficient.
No noise from the room.
Fast service when checking-in. It only takes a few minutes.
Wonderful helpful CMs.

CONS:
It's gaudy.. where's the fun? Too bright!
They don't have enough varieties of food.
The shop right next to the food court (too much chaos).
This place is sooo spread out! Everything is too darn far!
The room is sooo small. You can't fit more than 2 people there!
The room is not so clean. They have problems with mouskeepers there.
The pool is awful! It's so crowded!! Didn't enjoy it.
Too many children screaming and running around. Where are their parents!
The bus transportation is not great. It's not fast nor efficient.
Very noisy. The walls are thin. Turbo toilet!
Slow service when checking-in. It takes forever!
CMs are not too friendly.

There you have it! It's either you're a CON or a PRO! So which one are ya? OR wait.. there must be two POPs that we don't know about! Some just LOVES the POP (PRO-POP)... and there's some that HATES the POP (the other POP).

Count us as PROs! We loved POP and felt like it was everything you described in the PRO section.

Just back from the Pop (9-29 to 10-2) and I loved it !!! I saw tons of kids in the Jets, the room was in pretty good shape (a few stains on the carpet) I had a nice house keeper, I was on the end of the 70's builiding (close to the parking lot & busses) Lots of people in the Hippy dippy pool & the computer pool, GOOD dryers (meaning only one time around dried my clothing !!) found the food court to be hetic in the AM not so much later at night - but YUMMY eggs/bagel sandwiches Michelle

Edit -- the buses were great -- I never waited more then 5 minutes either coming or going - no matter what park I going to or coming home from! I did have to stand once - but that was by choice (9/30 after the 10pm parade at MNSSHP - I heard the CM say that the next bus would be in 15 minutes so I hopped on!)

OP - Well Said! There are so many differing opinions about POP. I think it depends a lot on each individual's tastes, preferences and tolerances. Plus, I'm sure a variety of other things add to this - time of year, etc.

We are staying at POP 12/3-12/10 and are taking all of the comments in stride. We will be prepared and then form our own opinions.

:goodvibes Well, now you'll just have to start one of these for all of the table service restaurants too, you know, Fantasia!

I usually only stay at POP for a night or two. My last few stays I was thinking how relaxing it was to walk from my car along the lake. (Granted, my first stay was their first month of opening and they had some problems with the outside music blaring, which has now been resolved)

Other than the above mentioned noise issue, I have never disliked POP. I even like the food court as it had some interesting items not available elsewhere. (I sometimes drive over just to get hard boiled eggs, bagel chips, and some veggie dips)

In fact, I'll be there is just over a week for a night again!

Good post, Telly.

We have stayed in mods but have looked at the values. They aren't for us, however, if money was an issue or the situation arose, we'd have no problem staying in a value. As a matter of fact, I know someone that has been to WDW, upwards of 35 times and she has been in all levels. They all have pros and cons.

However, the Pop seems to be getting a load of 'negative' reviews, lately. What concerns me, is that people can't post their viewpoint, even negative, without a huge debate and where it can get nasty. We all have different experiences and that's all it is, one's opinion about their own experience.

This past trip, we went over to Pop to see, for ourselves. We walked around for about an hour and were quite taken back on how big it is, learning that there still much more to come. I can see both sides of how one may feel with staying there. The food court is noisy, it's open to the gift shop etc. However, it did look clean and 'Disneyfied'.

I think that we all have to realize that everyone is different and what we may love about a hotel or restaurant (or anything for that matter), others may not like. Reviews are all subjective and vary so greatly.

love the pop - definitely PRO.

I think some of those bad reviews are in the 60's, 80's and 90's.

most people who stay in the 50's or 70's really love it.

I love the LAKE!!!

We just got back from the POP (9/28-10/05). It was our first time staying there and we LOVED it. We were in the 50's building. The room was clean, the pool was fun, the bus service worked well, the food was better than I thought it would be - we really enjoyed the breakfasts there. It is a bit gaudy but that's part of the fun.

count us in as Pro-POP. We'll be staying there again (hopefully sometime soon!)

I love your post Telly. How true!

We are definitely Pro-Pop too. We've been there 4 times so far and have 2 more visits planned before the end of the year.

I guess I am about 1/2 and 1/2!

Count us as another Pro. It does make you wonder how people can have such different experiences at the same place doesn't it? I think some people go there expecting it to be like a moderate or a deluxe and when it isn't they are disappointed. They set themselves up for disappointment.

A :cheer2: PRO-POPer checking in. Of course I love the deluxe and the moderates plus the DVC resorts are fantastic but if we want to go as often as we do (at least twice a year) we stay at POP. I think POP's food court is an improvement on those at the All-Stars. The food choices are no better and no worse than at the moderates (except for no sit-down restaurant). I haven't had any more problems with noise at POP than at other resorts (value, moderate and deluxe). I like the 50s and the 70s buildings best (50s for quiet and the 4th floor view from the back of the "Tramp" building of the fireworks and 70s for proximity to the busses.) I've stayed at POP 3 times and will be there again in 2 months. Can't beat that AP rate! :teeth:

Telly, I agree with what you said. We are very pro-Pop. Stayed there this past June and had a wonderful time. But we also had a great view on the lakeside of the 50's Building. What a wonderful time we had. :cool1:

We were in the 80's building and liked POP just fine. My only quibble, and it is a quibble, was some noise drifting over from the next room. I'm a light sleeper, so I sometimes notice that kind of thing, but it didn't keep me awake for long the couple times it happened.

No real major complaints.

Pat, I agree 100%. In May I did a split stay with two nights at POP, five nights BWV, then a final two nights at POP. I was in the 50's and loved it so much I requested the same area (and got the exact same room) when I returned five nights later. In Sept we spent the full seven nights at POP in the 70's section (facing the lake) and again loved it. We had friendly CMs, great mousekeeping, great bus service (better than BWV), loved the upbeat atmosphere, and never heard any noise.

Great post.

I personally will not stay at a value because I am a light sleeper and I do not want to be at a resort overrun with children making noise while I am sleeping. I also don't want to hear the potty flush. Many have said the noise levels are not that bad, but many have said it was terrible. I sleep well in the mods....who knows, it may be the same.

I think your above post can be written about all resorts. I think it really depends on the person, their expectations and what aggravates the individual.

Count us in as definetely PRO POP!!

Going back for a 3rd time in May 2006!
