I just got home from a weekend of tent camping at my fav campground. But this trip, all I did was compare it to FW....and I haven't even stayed there yet!! :rotfl:

I would sit in the evening by the fire, and think, what would I be doing if I was at FW now. Or in the morning I would think, where would I be doing at FW.

The more I read about FW, sound very similar, least in the campsites to my campground, least for the semi privacy, with wooded areas in between sites.

Is it possible to be addicted to FW before even staying there?

With the internet, I would think you can become addicted to 'heaven on earth' so quickly. Now for us, our first stay there was very scary--we'd only heard a little about FW and were sooooo nervous. But we got addicted after 1 visit!

Considering how much most of us here feel about FW  , I think it is easy to believe that you have come to love it too!!!!!

We love FW --it is our favorite campground---that being said it would be hard for any campground to live up to some of the expectations that one could get reading these boards

We have been thoroughly addicted to FW for many years now. Maybe "addiction" is the right word! Common sense tells me there are many other great destinations and campgrounds around. Indeed, we've been to some. But something like an addicts craving keeps drawing us back to the Fort. To heck with the price of gas and the increased cost of everything! We're going back. If someone starts a Ten Step group for Disney addicts, I wouldn't join, anyway.

10 step, 20 step whatever... I will deny I have a problem...... whats the worst thing that can happen ?

Funny, we just got back from camping in PA. It was great but we found ourselves remembering our Disney FW and wow.....We just love it in Disney. Best campground yet. Bad to always campare but what's a girl to do.

It IS true, once you have stayed at FW you will always compare other campgrounds to FW. FW sets the standards and all others try to live up to those standards.

We just got back from two weeks on vacation here in Michigan. It may be hard to believe but we found a campground that is ALMOST, as nice as FW. It is the KOA in Petosky, Michigan. All paved roads and lots, clean and excellent maintained buildings. It is no where near as big as FW, and the pull thru lots are kind of close, but if I couldn't make it to FW, this would be my next choice.

The only thing I read about FW that really turns me off is "NO CAMPFIRES". I can't camp without a fire. I'm like a pyro with fires.

The no campfire was one thing I at first thought...I can't camp! lol...but then figured I would be doing so many other things I don't really need it.

P.S...I am also a pyro when it comes to campfires :rotfl2: ..which maybe a good thing that FW doesn't have campfires :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I will start by saying that I love FW and it probably is the best campground around with clean bathrooms and such, but as far as camping is concerned it probably is not my favorite, as I do not go there just to stay in the campground as I do with some of our state park. It is more part of the magic, and a great way to stay at DW. I would not stay there just for hanging around and doing the camping thing, campfire and such, I am also used to state park, where we often have huge sites.
Of course they fact that it takes us at least 20 hours to get there, and we always go in August probably has me thinking that way.......

bradisgoofy,

I just found this forum today and not only was I happy to read what a great campground FW is, but also that you loved the Petoskey KOA! We have plans to camp there in a few weeks but have never been there. I'm really looking forward to it now!
