Comparing a FW Cabin to ASMu Family Suite for a 2 week stay!

Thanks for the great review! We are staying in the cabins again this August, but have wondered what the ASMu suites were like. May I ask what cabin loop you were in? We often walked to the other pool near the cabins which we enjoyed. We were in loop 2600 so it was a very short walk.

Hi. We stayed in the 2500 loop, which is right next door to the pool and laundry and across the street from the covered bus stop. It was perfect, we used that pool every day. Since we've been there, they've added a hot tub, too.

Thank you for posting this. My DW and I are planning a trip for June 2011 and we have been going back and forth between the two. My DW is disabled and we do not care for the busses so I definately think we will be staying at ASMu. Thanks Again

We will be a family of 6 + MIL and I've been going back and forth on the two. I like the idea of DH and I being able to have a room we can "close the door behind us".. also a sleeping area that can convert to a sitting area. The only drawback is the noise. I like the cabins, but we would pick the murphy bed and I wouldn't call that as private as the ASM suite.

It might be time to look into DVC as an alternative. If you shop you can get OKW resale for about $50/pt. and your cost per point ends up being about $7 per yearly point with figuring the purchase cost and fees. Of course this is if you do not have to finance. That puts it at about $1400/wk for a 1br.

We did this a few years ago since our AS son has a very limited diet so we needed the kitchen and the extra room is great (way bigger than a cabin) not to mention the wash/dryer, king bed, big balcony and whirlpool. we also saved a small fortune of food for the reset of us.

I have only stayed at FWC and SSR. We had a 1 bedroom suite at SSR. We had 5 people in our group. It was nice knowing there were no neighbors right next to us. With 3 boys that was a plus!:dance3: But having only 1 bathroom was an issue. At SSR having the 2 was great! Also having the washer and dryer was a bonus I didn't count on. The pools at either place were fine. Although at SSR we were right across from the pool and the kids liked that. At FW we had to walk a bit to get to it. I guess it is a matter of opinion what you want. I know I would pick SSR again if I had to. We are staying at CBR this time for the first time so my opinion may change.:rolleyes1 Hope you have a great trip.

Hi Everyone.

We just got back on Saturday from a 2 week stay at a Fort Wilderness cabin. Our trip before this was 2 weeks in January in a Family Suite at All Star Music. I thought some of you might be interested in my comparison of the two.
This is very helpful! Thanks!

thank you for this awesome detailed comparison. I keep waffling back and forth between the two. I think that I'm going to keep our reservation at ASMu. My mom has ambulatory dysfunctions and will be using a scooter--it sounds like ASMu will be the best bet for her.

Happy to help. I think you're making the right choice. There are accessible cabins but she'll probably be more comfortable with the concrete walkways and closeness at ASMu.

We're going back to the Family Suite in January and will probably go to the cabins in November!! And we're excited about both.

Thanks for this thoughtful and balanced review. We are currently trying to decide between the suites and the cabins and this was very helpful.
