WOULD YOU PLEASE GIVE YOUR PROS AND CONS OF THE TWO. WE HAVE DONE THE 7-DAY MAGIC THIS LAST YEAR AND PLAN TO GO AGAIN IN A COUPLE OF YEARS BUT JUST WANT SOME INFO ON RCCL...SPACIFICALLY ON VOYAGER OF THE SEA. HAVE ANY OF YOU CRUISED BOTH? DS IS WANTING TO DO CRUISE FOR GRADUATION PRESENT ON DISNEY BUT A FRIEND RECOMMENDED DOING THE OTHER SINCE HE WILL BE 18, BUT HE SAYS HE STILL WANTS DISNEY. JUST WANTED SOME FEEDBACK. THANKS:smooth:

Yes, we have done both, and although we LOVE Disney (20 so far, and the next one coming up in a couple of weeks), Voyager had its high points too. First, my comments on Voyager:
-The ice show was the BEST! We were so amazed that we saw it twice.
-Parades down the "street" were very cool.
-Excellent 24-hour food area where you could get great sandwiches, bakery items, etc.
-Mediocre food, which surprised me, as the cuisine has been excellent on the other RCCL ships we've sailed. We were on one of Voyager's first trips, so maybe it has improved. Actually, the lunches were very good...it was the dinners that were dissapointing.
-Staterooms are smaller than Disney.
-No adults-only areas (the spa, including the giant whirlpool, was supposed to be, but there was NO enforcement).
-Mini-golf course, rock climbing wall, and "king of the world" platform were all cool.
-Labadee is NOT a private island. The natives will try to get money from you for sitting in a beach chair, trying to leave the bathroom, etc., and they literally grab you in the marketplace. It was AWFUL!
Okay, now my comments on the Magic:
-Castaway Cay is the BEST! Unlike Labadee, it really is private.
-Adults-only areas are enforced, making this an excellent experience for childless couples (and of course it's great for kids too, since it's Disney).
-Not as much variety of food, but better quality than Voyager.
-"Disney Dreams" is such a great show...we never miss it.
-Disney has the biggest staterooms.
Hope all this helps!

Thanks for your replies. Yes this helped alot. I was just curoius about if my DS who will be 181/2 then and DD will be 131/2 would enjoy Voyager more or not. DS still is stickin to his guns about going on Disney again for graduation so I guess I'll book it as soon as the dates are available from Dreams. Thanks.:smooth:

Your kids would LOVE Voyager! We loved both cruises but if you've already done the Magic, I would vote for Voyager of the Seas. Its a fabulous ship. I know Barb cruised on it a while back but I had a very different experience with the food and Labadee so I think they have worked some of the kinks out since then. We all thought Voyager's dining room food was better than Disney's and Johnny Rockets is a fun 50's style diner type alternative to the dining room or buffets. The native RCCL workers on labadee are not allowed to hound you or expect tips for the beach chairs anymore. I know this was practiced in the past but we did not have a problem there. It is actually the village of Labadee, Haiti. It was lovely and although I did love Castaway Cay more, Labadee is beautiful. Especially sailing in. Very lush and mountainous but the water is not as blue. We did a waverunner tour along the coast of Haiti and it was fabulous! Our Category D7 Stateroom was fantastic. We had a category 10 secret porthole stateroom on the Magic but we loved our Veranda cabin on Voyager way more. Of course I know you can't compare a porthole with a veranda and hubby thought our D7 was bigger than our porthole cabin. I think they were about the same. I also know that they must be working on the enforcement of the adult only areas because I really had no problem with this at all in the adults only Solarium which is too die for and also the spa areas. Pool chair lounge hogging is definitely a problem on both ships equally. I chose to listen to the captain when he made general announcements on sea days not to hog the chairs but you want to know what? Next time I'm not going to listen cause nobody else does. They are all out there at 7:00 puting down books and shoes or whatever else they can and you can bet next time my shoes and books and butt will be out there at 7:00 too. It's such a bunch of BS but what do you do? Keep in mind that 18 is the drinking age on Voyager. I also did an in-depth side by side comparison on this board not to long ago. I think it's called Disney Magic vs. Voyager of the Seas-Side by side comparison or something like that. You may be able to pull it up on the search. Both cruises were fabulous so you can't go wrong either way but like I said if you've already done the 7 Day Disney, I'd say try the Voyager. She's a grand and gorgeous ship!

What is the drinking age on the Magic?I know I read it somewhere but I have forgotten. How old do you have to be use the casinos? Thanks for your replies. I think I am still leaning toward Disney but I still have awhile to make up my mind.:smooth:

21 to drink onboard and at Castaway Cay. 18 to drink anywhere else. There is no casino onboard, but there are casinos at Nassau, Freeport, and St Maarten. Minimum age for these casinos is 18.
