Compact Flash card prices

Hi What ballpark figure would you be looking at fot a compact flash card in Orlando Area,Belz etc?

I would highly advise NOT going to those places for compact flash. They really do rip you off. Best bet, WalMart, Target, or KMART. www.walmart.com will give you a pretty good idea of the cost.

But I dont believe these prices?
Its the first time Ive seen things cheaper in The UK Ill be stocking up Before I go I think,Rather than buy them in the usually cheaper US!!

I got a great bargain 2 weeks ago at Circuit City. 256 MB compact flash for $40.00. It was 70-15 instant rebate minus 15 mail in rebate. When I think of the prices I paid 2 years ago.......

I did think that is what you were thinking, but, I was looking at the mail in rebate which is usually only good for the US and Canada, not the UK, so, the OP would not be saving much.

I forgot to mention that I also like to post info like this on the Budget board because it gives people an idea of how much stuff is going for, and when it is a pretty good price (like that one was).

Going all the way back to September of this year - , amazon.com had a 512mb CFII for about $90US, (it's now much lower than that), Walmart in Orlando (I went to a couple of different ones) had 128MB CFII for $80US. Basically the prices seem to be dropping so much for the less than 1GB cards that the most reliable place to buy them is online - in any store they tend to reflect the price when the store stocked them.

Even though amazon etc will not deliver these type of cards outside of US, you can have a billing address elsewhere and have them delivered to a US address (I had an Australian billing address and had it delivered to Orlando accomodation) If you have a US friend you can probably find the cards with a mail in rebate and get your friend to claim the rebate.

On a side note to camera memory cards - getting the cards onto a CD - obviously not an issue if you're taking a laptop and can download as you go, but if not, most places will charge by the number of images, which sort of defeats the purpose of having a big memory card, but Walmart just charges by the CD. Only problem is the Walmart download software only copes with 300 files, and my 4MP camera and 512MB CF card held 500 files, so I couldn't just download everything and clear the card, I had to delete 300 images AFTER checking which ones were on the CD.... 300 images went onto 3 CDs and cost about $11 US, Elsewhere they were trying to charge almost $50US for the CDs, cheaper buying more cards from amazon....

OK, here I go again:

:happy1: Get to ebay, look up digital wallet and spend under $30 in a portable hard drive that will hold at least over 2,000 images! It also stores movies and music files. :happy1:

Empty your card each time virtually anywhere, in a few minutes. No need to bring a laptop or buy more cards!

iOmega, minds@work and other companies make them...

Why bother chasing $60, $90 bargains on a card when for under $30 you get a portable, light weigt device holding maybe more digital pictures and movies than you'll ever take?:
