Commute to parks from Pop C. mid-August? Afternoon nap do-able?

Everyone talks about going back for a nap, but we have 6 small kids and it takes more planning than D-day to get us on and off the buses (which I still prefer to driving ourselves and using the tram) so I was wondering how much time would it take us to get back to Pop for a nap. (basically, what's the commute time to each of the parks during a relatively busy season like mid-August?)
We didn't do afternoon breaks last time, but it was off-season, so parks closed early, and it wasn't very hot. Is it worth the effort? We plan on a sit down lunch almost every day (free dining plan).
Thanks!

your sit down dinning will take more time than getting the kids back to the resort.

I certainly won't do both.

IMO it usually doesn't take that long to communute mid day becasue the masses of people aren't coming/going at the same time. Best senario the bus is waiting for you and it is about a 20 minute communte. Worst case you might have to wait 25 minutes then have a 20 minute commute.

I generally hear good things about the bus service at POP. However, one person mentioned having a 1 hour commute, but that was in the AM when the parks were opening. DBF and I are planning on taking breaks. Even if it takes an hour communte both ways (but it probably wont take a whole hour each way) and we take a 2 hour break, thats 4 hours we had to sit (even if its in the bus) and nap or swim in the pool. Trust me, I am a much happier, less cranky person when I get out of there mid afternoon for a few hours. Hope this helps a little! :flower:

I also read a thread earlier today that said there was a long wait for the bus in the morning, since so many people were in line ahead of them. The key sounds like you need to be at the bus stop early in the morning, and avoid closing time at the parks.

Depending on if you have just missed the bus, travel times are not bad to POP from any of the parks. Epcot and MGM are closest and should take 10 minutes at the most. MK is farthest and takes 15 minutes. Allow more time for waiting for a bus. Usually 30 minutes is a good travel estimate.

6 kids in WDW in August! My Ear hat is off to you & your DH!!!!

But yeah! Take the break....you will all need it!

Have Fun

It really just depends.... With 6 kids I will go back to the room .. We are at the parks all year round.. August is very hot.. you will not want to have 6 kids in the heat..

I would plan 45 minutes to an hour each way from the moment you step out of the park to when you reach your hotel room.
