Communicating a Special Event with an ADR

We are visiting in October to celebrate both a big birthday and anniversary (two separate nights during our trip). What is the best way to communicate that special event to Disney when or after making an ADR online? If there is no online option, like a special notes or comments section, would calling Disney after securing an online ADR work?

We always mention it to the server as well as any notation on the ADR in case they don't notice the note. The server will usually help you celebrate your special occasion in some way. Wearing your birthday button helps too.

We received a sticky badge for DGD on her birthday from the front desk. I think I noted the occasion on our check in form. Of course then she was too shy to wear it but it is what it is, LOL.

If you use the online check in from the app, there is a place to add celebrations.

Disney has mostly done away with the gratis celebrations, outside of a plain cupcake for birthdays.

Let's face it...half the people at Disney are celebrating SOMETHING. Servers were being worked to death with all the special occasions.

If you get anything beyond the plain birthday cupcake, it's pretty much because your server made it happen on their own.

If recognizing the events is REALLY important, you can let the hostess you'd like to purchase a Mickey cake when you check in for your reservation. They're about $35...if they haven't gone up since covid. That's the only way to guarantee something "special".

Totally, no expectations for anything, but you never know what could magically happen. We have experienced special event moments at Disneyland restaurants, as well as at Disney World in the past, admittedly pre Covid. And I know that times change and things change, so no worries if Disney retired those things in lieu of a $35 cake that can be purchased. I plan to get Celebration buttons for the birthday and anniversary for fun anyway.
