Not in really what you are looking for, but I find this helpful:
In English, if you give someone a gift, you are giving them a present.
In German, if you give someone the gift (Der Gift), you are giving them poison.
So, if you are in a German speaking country, NEVER say that you will give someone a gift or else you will be saying that you will give them poison.
