Y'know, in a whole bunch of WDW trips, we've NEVER had a TS meal that was "awful, we'll never go back there again." Bongo's was just OK, and our one visit to Big River Grill the food was pretty good, but the place itself was nasty. Still, I could go back to either one.

As far as those that are generally bashed ... 'Ohana seems to be one of those love/hate restaurants, and we go just about every trip. We've been to H&V twice in the last five years, and it just wasn't bad. It's not one I necassarily crave, however. We've never had a bad experience at Coral Reef, either, although portions sure have gotten skimpy.

I think it helps to always remember that, when in the parks, you're eating theme park food, so I adjust my expectations accordingly ... hold WDW up alongside Six Flags, and there is frankly no comparison. I do hold the resort restaurants, and the signatures, to a higher standard. Buying a small box of popcorn at the movies for $4 makes Disney feel like a bargain, too.

The much-maligned Captain Jack's. I thoroughly enjoyed my crab cake sandwich and washed it down with one of the best Bloody Mary's ever! And the view can't be beat.

You can also add me as an Ohana lover. The best meal? No, but perfectly acceptable and fun, fun, fun!

We always enjoy both Sci Fi (we'd go just for shakes if we didn't like the burgers & onion rings) and Planet Hollywood and they are frequently dissed on the Dis.

Tony's Town Square. I had fantastic bruschetta there.
Mama Melrose's was also surprisingly good. Was expecting mediocre food.

Chefs d France - we love the atmosphere and the food. We've eaten there twice in the last three visits and both times the food was great and so was the service. Our girls loved when they came out and sung "happy birthday" to them, they felt like celebrities at the tender ages of 10 & 3.

Chef Mickey's - Honestly we've only eaten there once and that was back in 2003 when we were just a family of 3. We were there for breakfast and I don't remember anything really sticking in my mind that was horrible. The character interaction was awesome with a capital "A". Goofy is my absolute fave and he spent soooo much time "goofin" around with me I felt like a celebrity. This year we're gonna have dinner there the night we arrive; we couldn't think of a better way to kick off our Disney vacation. Now that we've added our youngest who will be there celebrating her 4th b-day I can't wait to see if she'll actually get over her fear of the masked characters and warm up to the idea of them.

Sci-Fi Diner - again, it's been some time since we've eaten there (we really try to dine at different places each visit so sometimes getting back to an old faverite takes a few years) but we enjoyed it. The only thing that has me worried this time around is all of the reviews on the slow service. Our ADR is for 5:15 on a Fantasmic night and I'm hoping that they can seat us and have us outta there buy 7:30 so that we can get decent seats for the 8:30 show. If things start to look bleek I'll send hubby on to find seats for us while I finish up with dinner and the like with our girls.

O'hana - we love it. Last year we had a perfect spot in the back so that our view of Wishes was dead on. When we arrive this year we're gonna spacificly request to be seated in the back and since we'll be a large group (my Bff, DSis and Nephew will be joining us) I think they tend to seat larger groups at those large family style tables in the back and that suits us just fine. We love the food, my hubby even made up a little song about all the meats he loves sooo much. Last time our server wasn't a little disappointing but unless there's horrid service that won't even bother us.

This year will be our first year on the Dining Plan so there are a lot of new places we're looking forward to trying so we'll be able to have opinions on so much more than we've even had before and we've been to a lot of on-site dining places.

Les Chefs, Hollywood & Vine, Mama Melrose, CRT (dinner), Coral Reef...we really enjoyed all of these.

Cali Grille is overhyped, IMHO. Food was just o.k., certainly not worth 2 TS.

I was one of the people who thought Coral Reef was overrated- I should have said, it's overrated during free dining, because in previous years, the place was always quiet and had ambience, great food and great service. It simply was just too crowded with too many people and it took its toll on the food and service. I may get flamed for this, but I don't like free dining. I would much rather they just discount the rooms.

Fulton's takes alot of negative hits, on the Dis, but we have always had great food, great service and a great view. We added an extra day to our resort ressie this fall, off the dining plan, so will definantly be making a ADR, again.

The one restaurant I really wanted to like, was Jiko. But, we did not enjoy our meal and we disliked our server even more. Maybe just a bad night....but we did not understand all the raves for Jiko. We will skip Jiko next time around.

We always love Chef Mickey's. You just can't beat the atmosphere there! There's always plenty of great food as well. You can't go into a buffet expecting anything gourmet or 5*.

Another one we enjoyed was Coral Reef. The food was great. Our service left a bit to be desired, but we were happy with the quality of the food.

We had the Fantasmic dinner package once with Hollywood and Vine and we loved the food there -- thought there were plenty of nice choices, some unusual cuisine and just really enjoyed it. I think they feature some items that aren't standard fare and for me that's a good thing. I'm always amazed at Americans who are afraid to try something different and say they go for the food in the "kiddie" area so they can have corn dogs and chicken nuggets and spaghetti.

For me the first would be Garden Grill, I am so glad I tried it before I came on the DIS because the negative reviews would have scared me away. I think I have eaten there almost every trip. In fact we just made the recipe for the potatoes this past weekend. It is my DH's favorite WDW restaurant.

I also love Chefs de France, I have only eaten there once and it is now my favorite WDW restaurant.

I also think Tony's has a bad rep and really isn't too bad, it wasn't my favorite but I would definitely eat there again.

Sci-fi is right up there for us too. We had a ball and the food was really good, service too!


I absolutely agree with the Coral Reef bashing though, it was downright disgusting when we were there last month. YUCK!

I'll go with lots of other people when I say San Angel Inn and Sci-Fi.

No, neither of them have the best food or even service in our experiences, but they are two restaurants that we love none the less for the un-beatable atmosphere.

For those who were not around during the drive-in movie theater time, Sci-Fi is a great way to experience something that you don't find anymore and for those of you that were around, it's a little bit of nostalgia mixed in with the normal Disney magic.

For Mexico, sitting there on the patio and having the mariachi band play with the candles flickering is great. It's relaxing and for us, it lets us feel a little bit of our other favorite vacation destination while we are in WDW---so it's the best of both worlds. I agree, people go there expecting "Tex Mex" and aren't used to more traditional mexican food. I agree that some of their food is sometimes bland and that I'm not a big fan of any of their dessert offerings, but the fact that the atmosphere is so great will bring us back time and time again.

Sci-Fi and Coral Reef most definitely. We found the food at lunch at Sci-Fi, while not exactly gourmet, fresh and hot and somewhat tasty. The atmosphere is unrivaled in WDW I think. I love that place and the kids thought it was awesome. That's where they and DH really want to return to over CRT, LTT, Chef Mickey's, etc. We all thought the food and service at Coral Reef was outstanding as well.

Tony's, for sure. Good food there, a pretty restaurant, and I'm a sucker for Lady and the Tramp.

San Angel Inn, another pretty place. Unusual and tasty salad, and terrific duck tacos.

Yakitori House, udon soup! ('nuff said)

Ft. Wilderness for breakfast and dinner buffets. Good food, lots of it, pretty place, and a nice boat ride over there. What's not to like?
