Common DIS bashes you disagree with?

Sci Fi! I continuously see terrible things said about it, but the chicken sandwich I had was excellent. DFi loved his meal as well, but I can't remember what he had. But our server's fun attitude and the ambiance (did I spell that right?) really made the meal! :thumbsup2

I enjoyed Sci-Fi both times I went. It sure takes a beating here, but I wonder if some of that has more to do with its perceived "value" (or lack thereof) for people on the DDP.

for us it had nothing to do with "Value" we had horrible service, and retched food. Out of our party of 4 none of us enjoyed our food, and it was pretty basic food. (ribs, chicken sandwich, and burgers) even the apps were nasty, burnt and greasy. It was a cute place, but I doubt we'd ever go again.

now back to the original question, we LOVE Tony's, San Angel Inn, and Le Cellier.

Tony's and San Angel Inn get a really bad rap, but we loved them both, great food and friendly service, we'd go back in a heartbeat

Sci Fi - our food has always been decent (and the rueben, back when I ate wheat, was actually excellent), and the atmophere is good. I haven't strayed to deep into the menu, but its pretty good.

Mama Melrose's. I just don't understand the dislike for this restaurant. Then agian, maybe it was just the blue glow-tini. . . .

San Angel! I think people go in there looking for taco bell and then get upset when they get real mexico food. I think the atmosphere alone makes it worth it, although I will admit that the place is overcrowded and I've had lousy service there more than once.

I agree 100%. My sister lives in Mexico. I've had many of these dishes at the lopcal restaurants when we visit.

We just got back from Disney and had a lovely meal at the San Angel. My son and I split the tampiquena steak with chilaquiles. I love chilaquiles and they did a good job preparing them. The steak was perfectly cooked from what I got to taste since my son gobbled up most of it!

I LOVE Le Ceiller. It is my favorite place to eat at WDW. That cheddar cheese soup, with the pretzel bread, is fantastic!

We tried Coral Reef and O'Hana on our trip last year, and also enjoyed them as well. In fact, my mom requested that we eat there twice on our 8 night trip. So we'll eat there at the beginning of our trip, and again at the end.

New on the docket for June is Captain's Grill and Olivia's Cafe...

For me the first would be Garden Grill, I am so glad I tried it before I came on the DIS because the negative reviews would have scared me away. I think I have eaten there almost every trip. In fact we just made the recipe for the potatoes this past weekend. It is my DH's favorite WDW restaurant.

We enjoyed our meal there too. Although I must say, DD is such a big Chip and Dale fan, I would probably still have to go there even if they were serving swill!

ditto....we love GG as well....the catfish is so good! Let's just hope next time we go we get some apple strudel with ice cream instead of the not so apple-y yumminess we had last time :)

We also like Mama Melrose's and Tony's - service at Tony's isn't the greatest at times, but food is good at both places for us, as is the atmosphere.

Happy eating to all, Tiger :)

We ate at Tony's over Christmas and asked to sit outside. It was a little chilly so no one else was out there, but they opened it up just for us. Pretty soon, another family joined us eating out there. We enjoyed our entire meal and especially our seats for the afternoon parade! It was awesome.

We tried Mama Melrose during Super Soap Weekend this last year and also enjoyed their food, although I think I actually liked the food and the atmosphere (I love Lady & the Tramp) at Tony's better.

I've only eat at the San Angel Inn once -- it is usually very booked up when I try to get an ADR. I thought it was fine and my out of town friend (from Texas and definitely used to Tex Mex -- as am I, since I grew up in Texas) seemed to really enjoy it. We both had good food and I would recommend it.

I didn't know that Les Chefs de France had a bad rap. It's one of our favorite restaurants, going way back to even when my mom was still alive. She loved it when we went to EPCOT and ate there.

I haven't tried all on the "bash" list but I can honestly say that I can't imagine anyone not liking O'hanas. We have always eaten out most of our meals (at home I mean) and we don't often do "chain" type restaurants but at Disney my expectations aren't too high.

O'hana's is our favorite, mostly because of the atmosphere. Its a must whenever we go. I sweated out getting ADR's this time as we were so late planning but we got a late dinner! WooHOo!

Mama Melroses is fine too. Never had a bad experience.

We always have done an early lunch at LTT and the fact that it is cool, and dark always revives us. Its also very reasonable, not much more than CS. My son got to ring the bell and say something from the second level to open it one year and got a cerificate! He carried around the confettie that was in the envelope for months afterward!

I wasn't crazy about Coral Reef but would eat there again. We live on the water so we're used to the best seafood around.

We're trying SciFi this time as its just my son and I and I thought it would be a fun place.

The kids love the RFC in DTD, we always have fun when we're there.

The only place I've ever had a TERRIBLE meal, with TERRIBLE service was Fulton's... it was late and they were packed but for what we payed for a family of 4, it was inexcusable. I'm not one to complain (that would put me in a worse mood than the bad food and service) but I wouldn't go back even if they offered it free.

It's been years since I ate at Tony's so I cannot comment on that. Chef Mickeys we've eaten at plenty of times... I really rarely do buffets so I don't think I ate much more than a salad but we had so much fun dancing and singing and waving our napkins it didn't matter. It's not top on my list now that the kids are older.

CRT we loved for the atmosphere and the food was fine... but that was before they changed to the one price character meals. I would have taken it if it had been available for lunch just for the experience as I don't think my son remembers eating there.

The one that we seem to notice people don't like is WCC, and we love it. The food and the antics. Our favorite all time is Chef Mickey's, but don't see many bashing it. I also love CRT breakfast and often hear it is a one time thing, but we have gone all but once.

My opposite to the question. We heard such raves about Cali grill for years, we finally splurged for our 15th annivarsary. It was our worst meal all trip. It wasn't bad, but nothing special. Would have rather saved a boatload of money and go to WPE.:confused3

Everyone is different I guess...

sci fi- have only been there once but Dfi and family loved it and specifically asked there to go again.

mama melrose- we also had a very good meal there some years ago. we did not have ADR's for any restaurant we were able to walk in to this restaurant and we all loved it. then next trip my dad for some reason believed it was in epcot (even though we told him it was in then MGM) and led us around all of world showcase looking for it so we could eat there again.:rotfl2: on this trip i made ADR's for this restaurant specifically for him because he loved it so much.

coral reef- we loved it the last time we went there and are going again in june! didn't have the greatest service but we loved the food and the atmosphere.

Two of my faves WERE San Angel and Ohana. I have been atleast three times to each in fact Ohana was a first night customary dinner for us but on our honeymoon the food just wasnt like it use to be meats were all very dry, the only thing we really enjoyed was the veggie and dumplings. Even the sticky wings were bland!
San Angel was always my fave just for the atmophere last time we went I loved the food, but they have changed it so much with the entrees not coming with a side dish like rice, beans or potatoes and the food was bland with the seating time outrageous and the staff just rude!
We decided to scratch those to for our FD bounceback trip in Sept and try Mama Melrose, Tonys and Crystal Palace
We will return to Boma for breakfast
Coral Reef, food is good service always slow and restaurant is loud but we love it
Le Cellier we enjoy the food and service is always good.
We have tried Sci Fi and loved the atmosphere thought food was bland
Prime Time we have been to one time food was good service slow and our waitress didnt play with us but we will go back just not the next trip
Teppan Edo we went when it was Teppenyaki it just wasnt as good as our local Myabi's so we wont go back
