Does anyone know if Disney does commitment ceremonys.
I know it's not legally binding in the state of Florida most likely.
Always wished to have a small get together of family /friends of a party size of 8.
We are DVC members at Boardwalk and would wish to have the ceremony at Sea Breeze Point with the reception in a Grand Villa.
We would not need the "room or Ticket" portion of a package.

Thanks,
Scott

I *think* Disney's ceremony properties are reserved for weddings & vow renewals only. That being said, have you called DFW to ask them about this?
You could always hold a private ceremony in a suite or other large hotel room if it's not permitted. Never heard of a committment ceremony being performed in one of their standard public venues.

Here is a link to the first commitment ceremony ever held there, and it was in Downtown Disney at the Hotel Royal Plaza. I am pretty sure that the wedding locations at Disney are for weddings only (or wedding related activities like vow renewals), but the Hotel Royal Plaza is a close alternative:

What a wonderful question. I would definitely call Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings Department or the Swan's Just Marry Department and ask. I do know that for you to hold a Fairy Tale Weddings' "vow renewal," you have to produce your wedding certificate, so maybe that rule would get in the way of a commitment ceremony. But Disney is a fairly pro-relationship type of company, so my fingers are crossed for you that something could be worked out.

Andrew (and Heather too) brought up an excellent point, however, if you can't go the Fairy Tale Weddings route -- you could possibly hold a private ceremony of your own in your resort room. As you have already stated, this ceremony won't be recognized by the state of Florida, but neither will be my future vow renewal. It is more a ceremony of the heart than it is anything else. And most importantly, a celebration of the love and commitment that two people have for each other. Oh, I'm getting all weepy-eyed just writing all this. *Sniff* I'm such a hopeless romantic.

Scott,

Did you ever find an answer to your question? No chance of doing it on Cruisetober II next year with all of us?

Just wanted to bump this up and see if anyone had any luck with Disney and scheduling a Commitment ceremony.

If FTW and Just Marry won't let you schedule a commitment ceremony through them, I have heard of people having insuite weddings. A Grand Villa at a DVC resort would be perfect, especially for a small group. And I know you can arrange to have Catering in room for a reception, but I am not sure who you contact about that. While an in-suite ceremony may not be ideal, at least it would let you have the ceremony at Disney.

I'm 99% sure that Disney will not do a commitment ceremony, unless the policy has recently changed. They insist that you produce a marriage license for either weddings or vow renewals.

If you did it in your DVC room, maybe on the balcony, that would be very scenic. I haven't heard of a policy change that would help you...
