I've just managed to get a deal on a onebed VWL at the end of July, last time we stayed in a onebed BWV and had a great time we never visited the Wilderness lodge but we are doing 2 weeks this time instead of one as i want to be able to spend sometime relaxing (last time we were on the go for a whole week and i felt like i needed a holiday at the end of it!!)
I really want the kids to be able to spend a few days playing in the pool and i want to take a book to read and just go out for something to eat in the evening. Im worried that the VWL wont be as nice as BWV i've read on some posts that the decor is dark and oppressive and i get the feeling that your miles away from any action (at least at the boardwalk it was easy to pop to the shops) and the pool at the boardwalk was really lovely the children loved the slide, and we hired the bike that takes 4 people and rode over to the beach club for icecreams, it was just perfect, do you think i would be disapointed with VWL , its a good deal i would be saving about $100 a night but will we just wish we had waited untill we could afford to go back to the BWV or the new BCV. Please help me to decide!!!!

STRICTLY MY HUMBLED OPINION.....We are DVC members. We tried the WLV's and were quite bored. Its a completely differant atmosphere from the BWV's. You will have alot of "down time" at the Wilderness. Is there a reason why you don't want the BWV's for two weeks? I think if I was looking for some entertainment during down time I would stick w/ the Boardwalk. Maybe you should try to Wilderness Lodge for a couple days and then move to the Boardwalk? My DH and DD were quite dissapointed in the Wilderness Lodge Villas. Of course I'm glad we tried it, its just not our "cup of tea". Good Luck w/ your decision.

One opinion on the other side. We stayed at the VWL for our first trip as DVC members at the end of January of this year, for 10 nights. We found it absolutely fabulous! In fact we waited to buy into DVC until VWL opened up. It is indeed laid back, but only minutes to the action. We had a number of "down" days. We rented the water mice, walked to the campground(petting zoo), went swimming a lot! DH and I went to the poly for dinner on our date night and then to DTD to shop. Very relaxing vacation!

The rooms are a darker decor, and I found that the 2 bedroom unit we stayed in seemed brighter than the studio. Everyone has different tastes. It is nice Disney gives us so many choices, but terrible to make a decision!!

Good luck and have a fun trip!!!!!

Haven't stayed at the BWV, but having been all over Disneyworld, you will definitely find that the WLV are quiet. That's the beauty of this resort. It gives folks a chance to really unwind and enjoy nature in a relaxed fashion. The pools are great. You can rent water boats. You can rent bikes and ride down to Ft. Wilderness. The Lodge is right next door so that if you want some action you can head over there. If you really want some action the Contemporary is just minutes away by boat which will also connect you to the other monorail resorts and Epcot. The rooms are dark themed - dark wood, darker reds as colors. From what I've seen of the BWV and BCV the decor is light and floral. Therefore, if you want a vacation with lots of amenities at your fingertips, BWV or BCV may be your ticket. If you want quiet and relaxation you can't beat WLV.
