Comments on DLH

I loved the breakfast at Sequoia Lodge, but have to say I thought the DLH was superior. Obviously there is the advantage of having cooked food (oh yummy yummy yummy) but there seemed more choice of other things. The fruit juice was nicer, there were brioches and banana bread (which I hadn't seen at SL, although it may have changed since April) there were more choice of yoghurts, there seemd more choices of meat, and of course the cheese is in big slices, not chunks! Also there seemd to be more choice of fresh fruit. As well as fruit salad, they had grapefruit, watermelon, honeydew melon, kiwi fruit, apples, bananas that I could see.

Hi PJackson being rather an expert on loo rolls now :lmao: I have to agree with your mum, definately a bit cheap and scratchy!

We thought that there were considerably less characters at breakfast this year. Last year there were lots wandering the corridors but this year there was only one at the firplace and one other in the corridor each morning. Maybe the credit crunch is hitting DLH:rotfl2:

It's really interesting to hear/read your replies :)

Fifi - glad you felt the same about the loo roll :rotfl2: Still though, as least you could hear the TV while using it :rotfl:

We saw 3 characters some days and two others... I don't think my DD1 could have handled more at breakfast! :lmao: I didn't expect any more but then I didn't know what to expect really with it being our first stay.

I do think the 15 yr celebrations has meant a LOT more people visiting DLRP (I would say we went for that but we didn't - it was purely because DD1 had reached an age where we felt she would get quite a bit out of it - we had always intended to go - but the offers of course lured us in even more). Maybe they are riding on the hope that everyone/most will return as a result without them needing to have too many offers? :confused3

We all :lovestruc Disney on this board so it may be a bit different in that most of us here will visit again/often if we can but I wonder what 'joe bloggs' will do when they see the new prices next year? I think it was Davewasbaloo that has been saying for a while that Disney isn't what it used to be... :confused3

I was talking to my Mum about this thread and she reminded me of a couple of things I'd forgotten about during our DLH stay. They rang for room service one night (bottle of wine - no food) and after 45 mins wait they rang to chase and were told it would be another 30 mins or so :scared1: The hotel certainly was not full to capacity so that wasn't too good.

One evening in the bar DH and I waited almost 20 mins for our first drink - it wasn't terribly busy but most tables were taken and then the waiter didn't bring our 'nibbles' so after another 10-15 mins we had to ask for them :rolleyes1 We had a second drink and again no nibbles (every other waiter/night we'd had the replenished with new drink orders) I couldn't be bothered to ask again... My DH joked he was the 'YTS' waiter as he was flapping all over the place and one man was having a bit of a go at him (in French) about something clearly 'not right'....

It's little things like that do make the difference imo - picky? Probably yes as tbh I had forgotten about them so they certainly didn't spoil my stay :)

Annette - thanks for saying you'll update us :)
