We were at Disney inSept on our second day there my daughter whos 4 fell off the steps of the bus, We were that last ones to get off on purpose so that she could take her time well anyway she fell head first onto the cement, She was screaming, crying in total hystrical, (sp) I had to drop the stroller, and bag to help her ( still on the bus) as her foot was still on the bus step. I was a little peved that the driver who saw this did not even ask if she was ok, didn't offer any help, or even offer to point us in the right direction to a first aid station, Which I also think is bad that it's so far in epcot, Oh and b,t,w, she was carring her water bottle which broke into tiny pieces and thankfully did not stab her at all. She was pretty bruised up. so bruised that she had a bruise on her ribs the bigger that my hand opened as wide as I could It has been 1 month and its just finally gone, she skinned both knees ripped her clothes, split her lip and scraped her elbows and check, And no Are you ok?

I am sorry this happened and am glad your DD is ok.

That said, I cannot imagine allowing a 4 y.o. child to try to board or exit a bus with a water bottle in hand. If I were a parent of a young child, they would board/exit the bus with one hand in mine at all times. If I had other things (stroller, bag), then I'd get off first, drop all that stuff and turn around to make sure the child got off safely.

Accidents happen, but getting angry at the bus driver seems like a waste of energy to me.

She wasn't carrying the water bottle she had it slung over her shoulder, and she did have her hand on the hand rail And I wasn't MAd at the driver just surprised that after hearing for many years how helpful cast members are that no one offered a band-aid, kleenex of anything and the driver was " miffed" that it was taking us so long to get off the bus. I'm sorry if your look down and see a little girl screaming and covered in blood you ask if she is ok not stand there and give dirty looks.

What an awful experience for you and your child. I'm glad she's OK, now. As a mother of 3 young children, I couldn't agree with you more that the bus driver or another CM in the area should have offered their assistance.

I usually am of the mindset if you have nothing nice to say, don't say it at all. THAT SAID, Eeyore1954 apparently doesn't feel that way. Once again some people on this board apparently feel it's thier duty to put down others. I'm sorry he felt the need to belittle your parenting skills. Maybe if he had young children he'd know that most 4 year olds are perfectly capable of going down 3 steps on thier own. Here's a great idea, you leave your child on the bus while you unload all of your stuff, and the doors slam closed and the bus speeds off with your kid inside. Bright idea.

What happened to you was just an unfortunate accident, happy it turned out OK in the end. Hope you had a great trip overall!

Exactly that , an unfortunate accident. Let's not belittle bus drivers for not paying attention, parents for complaining about bus drivers, or other posters who know nothing about the incident.

I said that I was not mad at the driver but i think that its a little poor that he didn't check that she / we were ok! I mean the bus stop for the value resorts are a the furtherst (sp) away from the entrance to any of the parks and God forbid had she been hurt bad it would have been a very hard to get to help, it was a slow day at epcot and there was no one around. mostly because we always waited untill everyone else was off the busses so that we could safely get down. My daughter is big for her age so she looks older than she is. I am in no way mad at the driver I think that disney should have a cast member at the bus stops or tell the drivers to wait untill eveyone is SAFELY off the busses and on there was it would only take a few second extra. expecially in the slower time when there are not as many people around and that the buses should have first aid kits on them.

I am so sorry your little one got hurt. How terrible for you guys.

I also have an uneasy feeling though that the driver may NOT have seen what happened. If he was still in the drivers seat, it's a real possibility that he had no clue that she even fell! He may well have thought that she was just crying....4 year olds do that sometimes, my own included! LOL

Isn't there a building by the bus area that has a first aid kit in it? I'm sure there's a cast member building over there. I've never EVER seen a Cast Member who was blase' about an injury in the parks, but I'm sure it has happened. They're usually right there if they notice something happen.
