Oh wow! I didn't know that it's ending. I really liked it. It was no West Wing, but I still really liked it. I loved Gena Davis as the female president. And in no way was that a satisfactory ending with Dickie showing up at Templeton's place. Why would they even show that?
For those who missed last night's show, they were setting up for a town hall meeting with Templeton. They find out that some big-wig in Illinois dies and he was the major opponent of the ERA. So Mac wanted to use this opportunity to try to get it passed. They needed three more states so they were hoping for Illinois, Missouri and Florida since there's a female big-wig "in charge" of things down there. Mac talks with this female senator who doesn't want to pass the ERA, but Mac finally convinces her. Dickie on the other hand thinks it's bad for the pres to do this because she won't get re-elected. Mac says she doesn't care. If this is the only thing she accomplishes during her presidency, so be it. Dickie gets to the Florida senator and convinces her not to pass it as she surely won't get elected if she does.
Just before the town hall meeting Templeton decides to let it "slip" that he's running for President in order to steal Mac's thunder at the meeting. Meanwhile, Mac's daughter is supposed to meet her internet friend at the meeting. The guy is an intern that works for Templeton. They end up meeting with no drama or fanfare even though they inferred last week that something sinister was going on.
At the meeting, Mac finds out that Illinois did indeed pass the ERA which makes it look like it's going to happen. But then she finds out that Florida didn't. Somehow she figures out Dickey caused the Senator to change her mind so she fires him. He then shows up at Templeton's office offering his services.
The episode ends with Jim telling Mac that he would accept the VP position if offered. Then Mac leaves the town hall meeting to a huge crowd cheering her on.
