Coming to you Live from Disney World!-Take 2 AUG/SEPT WINNERS ANNOUNCED

Next in this morning was a two part Magic Kingdom update sent to us by Dreamport.

She said, "Last night we went to our first MNSSHP! We grabbed our dinner just before it started at..."

Steak & Chicken Combo Meal

"The meat was tender but the chicken hard to chew. Tomatoes are covering the hash stuff which went untouched. We've never had corn bread before but loved how it tasted like cake! So moist. Kit was glad the root beer slurpie got her a caffeine fix but wouldn't get it again."

"Then later we got our party treat from...

Sleepy Hollow

"It's the pumpkin spice waffle I think? I tend t dislike pumpkin but found the hint of flavor just right."

"Here we are eating our waffles and wearing our party costumes..."

"Kit went as a vat of DIP from Who Framed Roger Rabbit? And she thought the ice cream was delicious."

"As the Dreamfinder, I probably should have found Figment stealing my bite more funny. Oops. ;) A lot of folks recognized our costumes, though I did get "Look Mary Poppins!" too. :lmao: But yes, yummy waffle! Don't miss it!" :thumbsup2

Next in this morning was an update from Lori (vettegirl).

She and her DH had dinner last night at the Yacht Club's...

YACHTSMAN STEAKHOUSE

They had dinner with a view...

Stormalong Bay

"I had the lobster bisque for an app...

"Nice blend of spice with a healthy portion of lobster."

"Peter had the filet...

"It was perfect."

"I had the the NY Strip...

"Again perfection on a plate. I could not finish it all, was a lot of food."

"We did not have dessert, went back to the CL at the Beach Club for that."

And speaking of the Yacht Club, DeeDee (buzz1121) had breakfast this morning at the other TS restaurant there...

She said, "Since we are staying at the Yacht Club, we booked breakfast this morning at Captain's Grille. There has been a breakfast menu item that I have been eyeing for some time and sure enough, it was still on the menu this morning.....the Lemon Ricotta hotcakes."

"I must admit I have quite a thing for anything lemon. My reaction to lemon flavor is the exact opposite of little DD's, but hey, her culinary palette is just developing. ;) The hotcakes were served with a blueberry compote, lemon curd, and a side of roasted potatoes. Did they receive the DeeDee lemon connoisseur seal of approval? Why yes, yes they did! :thumbsup2 My one and only complaint is that they did not give me enough lemon curd. The small container needed to be a bowl! If it wouldn't have been unseemly I would have licked the container clean! ;) The curd was perfectly smooth, initially sweet, but with that after tang and zip that makes the flavor pop."

"I actually got my hotcakes with the blueberry compote and lemon curd on the side as I was sharing with the baby."

"The compote was a little too sweet for me, but DH, who ordered the same thing, liked it just fine and thought it balanced the curd well. The roasted potatoes were a bit of a miss as they were a little overdone. I should also mention that the pancakes at Captain's Grille were of the thin variety, unlike Kona's really thick, dense pancake. It really wasn't a stretch to eat three of these hotcakes."

"We also received a celebration chocolate cake and balloons in honor of our anniversary."

"The cake was pretty dry, but the thoughtfulness more than made up for the dryness. I must say we have had stellar service at each and every dining location this trip. The entire culinary experience has been great thus far!"

And last, DeeDee was kind enough to also take pictures of the breakfast buffet offerings for us...

For Dreamport & Kit, breakfast this morning was on the run at ASMu's...

Intermission Food Court

"Another cheese danish for Kit and the banana bread which has been calling to me since Monday. We gobbled these down. Kit liked the one from Starring Rolls better since it was warm. My bread was moist and delicious with no nuts. Big fan of that. Oh, and the Silk was very vanilla flavored. Wish I had caught Kit's face on film since she was expecting plain."

Now for some lunch updates, beginning with DeeDee's (buzz1121) update from DHS'...

DeeDee said, "Continuing with our adventures in dining on our trip, today's lunch was at a favorite of DH's....Hollywood Brown Derby. We have had varying levels of service at HBD in the past, but today's server, David, was by far the best server we have ever had there. As reported by others, HBD has been testing a lunch specials menu."

"We were told that the test had been going very well, that most of their dining business in the past had been during dinner service, but with the specials they have seen an upswing in lunch reservations."

"I don't know what it is about HBD's bread service, but the rolls are always out of this world tasty!"

"DH and I elected to share our two selections, both of which were located on the lunch specials menu. We chose the appetizer portion of the Cobb Salad, minus the avocado and chives with dressing on the side."

"We also selected the Fettuccine Alfredo with Prosciutto brittle and Parmigiano-Reggiano and added grilled chicken."

"The Cobb Salad was delicious and the alfredo with the prosciutto was terrific. The brittle gave the pasta a crunch and saltiness that made it something really special."

"By sharing the meal we had room to try two desserts, the Banana-White Chocolate Toffee Tower...

...and the Strawberry Champagne Cheesecake."

"These desserts had a light mousse-like quality to them. I would be hard pressed to choose a favorite as they were both so good."

"We also heard another interesting bit of news that I have not heard anywhere else. The Hollywood Brown Derby will be expanding their patio area to include bar service and a tapas menu that will not require you to make an ADR. The executive chefs have been working to create a menu that is tentatively going to include Wagyu beef sliders. The plans are to open this dining option to park guests by late October, in plenty of time for the holiday season. Barb, it's looking like that December pub crawl may be able to span at least two parks!" :)

Also having lunch at DHS today was a new reporter who just arrived at Disney World, MichelleWDWfan.

Michelle and her DS Joey had their first meal at...

Michelle said, "We both ordered Milkshakes...Joey had a PB & J malt and I had chocolate." (no pic)

"For appetizers Joey had the crab cake...

Grandpa's Crab Cake - lump crab cake served with succotash, bacon, chili sauce and crispy onions

...and I had the onion rings."

"Joe like the crab cake but said the sauce had a bite to it. The onion rings were good."

"For entree Joey had Meatloaf...

...and I had the Sampler."

"We both enjoyed our entrees. The sampler was a bit much food for me. The portions are huge!"

"For dessert we both had the smores...

"Yum!! Tasted just like campfire smores."

"Our waiter Mikey was fantastic. We are soo full. We couldn't eat another bite. Now its time to walk off our meal. We are looking forward to having dinner tonight at the California Grill."

Our next lunch update was from Eric (VikingInMouseEars).

He and Luanne had lunch today on the Boardwalk at the...

"We both got the lobster roll...

"This was good and had lots of lobster. Since this was a QS, it came with chips and dessert."

"We both got the salted caramel ganache. I got a Jersey Crunch cake for later and Luanne got a chocolate, peanut butter something."

"And since I wasn't sure I was going to make it to that stand [in the parks], I stopped here and got these..."

Hello Barb and fellow Disers. :goodvibes I will be in the World from Oct 22nd to Oct 25th staying at All Star Movies. I'll be with my very good friend Tanya. This is Tanya's first trip to WDW!! Hello Barb, fellow October/November reporters, and readers. :wave2: My name is Jenifer and will be leaving Lexington, KY headed to WDW 10/4/13. We're driving this time and should arrive at some point on 10/5/13. :drive:

Joining me this trip is my oldest granddaughter, Skye 18yo, her boyfriend, Jeremiah 21yo, and my youngest granddaughter, Haley 9yo. We are celebrating Skye's high school graduation and turning 18. It will be Jeremiah's first trip to Florida and to WDW! Love bringing newbies! I'm making him wear a green Magic Band since he's a greenhorn! He wanted red, no you get green. :lmao:

We are staying at Pop Century for one night 10/5/13 before moving to the Contemporary's Bay Lake Tower on 10/6/13 - 10/11/13. Then moving to Animal Kingdom Lodge Kidani 10/11/13 - 10/13/13.

We will be on the Deluxe Dining Plan beginning with the BLT stay but since you can use it until midnight on your check out day I'm making it cover 6 days. Arrival day and our last day will be out of pocket. I don't normally do the Deluxe Dining Plan but this trip called for it. It's a celebration after all and also Jeremiah is an aspiring chef (he's in culinary school) and I want to show him some of what WDW chef's can do! Also, the boy can eat and so can Skye.........oh heck I can put it away too! Anyway, we neeeeeded the Deluxe.

We've got tickets to MNSSHP for 10/10/13!

Here are the ADRs I have right now. Disclaimer: I have changed ADRs so many times since my 180 day booking window I'm thankful for online booking because I'd be embarrassed to call. "Yes, Ms Goodman, are you sure you want to cancel that reservation? You just booked it 5 minutes ago." You understand, I'm sure I'm not alone. So, I am subject to stilllllllll make changes on the fly. So no promises on any of these, okay. That out of the way here you go:

Be Our Guest FP Lunch (first visit. Had dinner but cancelled and opted for lunch only)
Flying Fish dinner
F&W Festival Booths, no events, sorry. :rolleyes1
Teppan Edo dinner
Crystal Palace breakfast - tradition
Hoop Dee Doo Musical Review
San Angel Inn lunch
Via Napoli dinner new to us
Kona breakfast
Artist Point dinner
Boma breakfast
Either Yachtsman Steakhouse or Jiko dinner (have ADR for both but will cancel one. Not sure if we'll need to go to DHS or can have a lazy day at AKV)
Yak & Yeti lunch, new to us
Sanaa dinner, new to us

Plus we'll have about 40 snack credits to burn. Between the F&W booths and now two Starbucks I don't think we'll have any problems using them up. :crazy2:

Not going to be raking in the points with some of our choices I don't think so no competition my fellow October/November reporters! lol

I wish all my fellow travelers a safe journey and hope I run into you while we're there!

Next up are some updates from Dreamport, who spent the afternoon at Epcot.

She said, "We have hopped over to Epcot in search of lunch. But first we had to stop somewhere cool." ;)

"I've been looking forward to tricking Kit into trying Beverly."

So here's how that went down...

"Hmm...smells odd."

"Tasting..."

"It tastes good."

"Just my luck."

"Here I am demonstrating the proper reaction to the Beverly...

"Bleck!!" :crazy2:

"We did try some others. Japan was interesting, Germany's hint of orange got the Beverly taste out of my mouth. :thumbsup2 And pictured here are Israel on the left and China on the right."

"Kit liked the candy watermelon taste of China but I thought it was too sweet. The hint of honey in Israel's soothed my sore throat. I'd definitely get Germany again! Kit would have them all."

Then next Dreamport got a snack from another "cool" place at Epcot...

"I needed real soda and a snack."

"And Kit found some Earl Grey tea right outside the boats to World Showcase."

"She loves how they put the leaves in the bag in front of her. It's still piping hot but quite smoother in taste."

Next stop was Norway for lunch at...

"Everyone keeps telling me to try the School Bread, but we needed a real lunch for world traveling."

"Roast beef sandwich oddly missing the cheese and with only one slice of tomato on ciabatta. The bread was crumbly and not a lot of flavor. Next time we'll try it toasted."

"Condiments"

"Side salad which oddly came with cheese so it balanced out. ;) Kit has been craving salad but I only had a few bites. And half the tomato."

"Dressing choices"

And apparently there was a celebrity in the (Norway) house today...

"Then it was on to Japan for dessert...

"We grabbed some Strawberry Azuki ice cream. Refreshing with an odd mix of two tasty flavors. Kit kept photobombing so I gave up getting a solo shot of the ice cream."

Then last from the UK's...

"At around 5 p.m., the Rose & Crown became our first potentially successful attempt at having a walk up meal. But since we both wanted fish and chips anyway, we opted to pay less and have dinner next door."

"We thought the fish was more greasy than in February but the flavor makes up for it."

Hi I am Melissa and I am going to Disney World with my friend Greg. We are staying at POR thanks to my sister who so kindly is sending us on this trip. There will not be an introductory photo of us since we live in different states. In fact I don't think we have ever had a picture taken of the two of us together. This will be remedied on this trip since I decided to get Photopass+. October 28th will be our travel day and since I am heading to WDW from Oregon and Greg is heading there from Kansas. We will meet up in Chicago and fly the rest of the way together. We are on the Deluxe Dining Plan. Greg has never stayed on site or had the opportunity to try the wonderful food at Disney. I have not been to WDW since 2005. This is my official empty nest trip since both of my children are now in college.

Next in this afternoon were some updates from want2bminnie from various locations at the Contemporary, starting with breakfast at...

"Soft pretzels with two dips. So good!"

"Then I went upstairs to the Outer Rim Bar for an energy boost."

Our next update was sent to us by MaineDisneyDad.

He said, "Saturday night DW and I had dinner at..."

"But first, on our way to the Grand Floridian I took this picture of the sunset from the monorail..."

"After we checked in we went to the bar...

...but just as we were getting ready to order our buzzer went off."

Some menu pics...

"DW got a Shooting Star or something like that..."

(I think this is a Magical Star cocktail???)

"Bread with the butter that has pink salt on it. Very good."

"I got the crab cake...

"Very good with a spicy kick to it."

"DW got a salad...

"She liked it."

"I had the filet with the lobster tail...

"The filet was melt in your mouth good but being from Maine where we know how to cook and eat lobster, I thought the lobster was sub par. Just my opinion."

Note from jabead: MDD's report cut off here, so if there were more photos/text from this meal I didn't receive them. If any food pics are sent later, I will edit them in to this update.
