Coming to you Live from Disney World!-Take 2 AUG/SEPT WINNERS ANNOUNCED

Then we received an update from Eric (VikingInMouseEars).

He and Luanne had dinner tonight at the Yacht Club's...

Here's what they had...

"Delicious yeast rolls."

"Wedge salad. Once they got our order right these were great. We both ordered these with extra dressing and I ordered mine with no blue cheese. The ones they brought first had blue cheese and no dressing."

For our entrees, Luanne had the New York Strip with candied marble potatoes and roasted vegetables."

"She enjoyed it."

"I had the short ribs, these had great flavor."

"None of the sides appealed to me, so I was offered a baked potato. It came overcooked and as you see in the picture it had nothing on it, wasn't even cut open."

"For dessert, Luanne had the Bananas Foster Cheesecake with Rum-Caramel Sauce."

"And I had the Braeburn Apple Buckle with Yogurt Gelato." (sorry no pic)

"Both desserts were great."

"Service here seemed a hit or miss. I saw waitstaff that seemed highly efficient and others, like ours, that seemed to be not quite up to the task. Also, all the waitstaff were jumping all over the room as their tables were spread out all over."

Check back tomorrow for another great update from California Grill, one from T-Rex, and our first-ever live update from the World Premiere Food Court. And hopefully we will also receive our first update from the soft opening of the Food & Wine festival. ;)

Good night everyone! :wave2:

Those look sooooo yummy! I am also in love with anything lemon and blueberry. These were on my list, but now they're a definite must-do!

For any other lemon blueberry fans, the Ben & Jerry's Frozen Greek Yogurt Liz Lemon Blueberry flavor is very good

Ok. I needed to catch up on about 100 pages of this thread, but it was well worth while! I loved the comparison pictures Barb posted of my youngest. He did grow a lot in a year :) we came back from vacation facing a ton of work and some medical issues, but they seem to be resolving now. Thank goodness! So I will be on here more regularly again. Can't wait for the upcoming California Grill update. I am really looking forward to testing the new restaurant someday.

We will be in WDW for one day on November 4, and I can send updates then. We actually are taking a cruise from NYC which stops in Pt Canaveral, so I couldn't resist a drive to WDW for Ohana breakfast and downtown Disney :)

While on our vacation, Dsis actually got engaged and is going to plan a WDW wedding, so we are all excited about starting that planning process. All of the food options! Otherwise, I'm itching because we have no Disney parks trips in the works right now. I'm debating a WDW trip in April, but need to save up for the transatlantic on the Magic, which we all have our hearts set on. I'm also anxious to see all of the F&W reports on here. If I could find cheap last minute airfare to WDW, I'd sneak down just for that, but nothing has popped up.

Thank you, as always, to Barb for keeping up this thread. It always makes me so happy to come here.

Hi Ginamarie! :wave2: We've missed you, glad you're back! If you unable to find that cheap airfare for a F & W fest trip, perhaps a quick trip in early December to enjoy the holiday decorations??? More specifically, around the first weekend in December. ;)

To my knowledge, we have no live reporters arriving at Disney World tomorrow so instead of starting out with my usual trip introduction post this morning, I am instead announcing the launch (hopefully today) of our next live thread...

Any updates that we receive from the Food & Wine Festival (opening this weekend, and perhaps soft opening today) will be posted to this new thread. Also this weekend the first participants in the Oct./Nov. Game will be arriving at Disney World. Any updates received from our October team members will also be posted to the new thread. This Take 2 thread will remain active until the last of the updates from the September team reporters have been received and posted to it, which should be one week from today. So any September reporters with leftover updates, please get them in by October 3rd. It we have not reached the 250 page limit, I will then also post the winners of the August/September Game on this thread, which will serve as the conclusion for the Live Thread - Take 2.

So a quick synopsis...

For the next week or so, you are going to get "Two for the Price of One" live threads! :)

I think I can speak for us all when I say.... Thank you for all you do to organize this thread!

It's such a fun and helpful thread I can't wait to pay it forward and add my contribution in 2 weeks!

Now let's finish up with yesterday's updates, beginning with the promised update from...

Michelle (MichelleWDWfan) & her DS had dinner there last night and sent us this great update.

Here is what they had...

"We started with bread service."

"Apps: I had the Duck and Joey had the Surf n Turf."

"Duck in all its Glory" - House-made Sausage, Rillettes, Prosciutto, Duck Liver Pate, and Cranberry Compote
& Roasted "Surf & Turf" - New Smyrna Clams, Saffron-infused Fennel and Chorizo Butter, and Bone Marrow

"The duck was served in tasting portions with accompaniments."

"For out entrees, I had the Filet and Joey had the Scallops."

Oak-fired Filet of Beef - Heirloom Tomato Risotto, Marinated Baby Vine Tomatoes, Petite Basil, Tomato Butter
& Georges Bank Scallops - Homemade Potato Gnocchi, Smoked Pork, Grilled Onions, Rapini, Parmesan Foam

"Both were cooked perfectly. The tomato risotto that came with the filet was fresh and creamy. I tasted Joeys scallops and I thought I was in heaven!"

"For dessert I had the Fritters...

...and Joey had the Seasonal tastings which had a variety of apple desserts."

"We had a phenomenal dinner and then watched Wishes from the balcony."

Next in last night were three updates from a new reporter who arrived at Disney World yesterday, Riles_and_Gabe. This first of her updates was a live thread first update from the All Star Music resort's...

She said, "Gabrian and I made it to Disney today! Traveling went very smoothly and other than being exhausted (we have been up since 3:30 AM), we had an awesome day! We arrived at All Stars Movies a little after 1:00 and we were starving. For some reason my piece of Starbuck's Pumpkin bread did not sustain me all morning long." ;)

"Thank goodness for World Premiere that we were so hungry because otherwise I would have been so disappointed that this was my first meal ever on the Dining Plan."

First a menu pic...

"I got the Bacon Mushroom Cheeseburger and fries, along with a bottle of diet coke and chocolate cake."

""My burger was fine tasting but barely room temperature. The fries were in the same condition. I was so hungry I just went with it."

"I was extremely disappointed with the dessert options here. After reading all the reviews on the disboards with the awesome desserts at the other resort food courts this just didn't even come close."

"Gabrian got the kids hot dog with fries and chocolate pudding. He got chocolate milk to drink."

"I didn't realize that the kids got two options and I would have actually picked something other than fries since Gabrian doesn't really like them that much."

"Gabrian was apparently famished because other than his fries he demolished everything including half of my chocolate cake!!" ;)

"I may still give them a chance for breakfast this week but they are cut off from my lunch and dinner options." :(

"I also included the menu for the pool bar. I didn't get there anything today but will keep them in mind for this week!" :thumbsup2

I used to work at the ASM Food Court Ohhhhh the memories. I miss it. I loved meeting new people from all over the world. I normally worked in the bakery. :)

Riles_and_Gabe's next update was from their dinner last night at Downtown Disney's...

"This is the one Gabrian wanted so badly but just couldn't seem to enjoy. You will see in one of the pictures that he spent most of his evening with his ears covered. Poor guy, he seemed so disappointed that he didn't love it as much as he envisioned."

"We are on the Dining Plan but did not use a Table Service Credit here. I got a little carried away with my reservations for this week and I either had to give something up or pay OOP for a couple of my meals. Obviously I couldn't give up any of my eating opportunities."

Cocktail menu

"I started off with a Cosmo Paleo Cotton-Tini."

"It was super fun and delicious but cloyingly sweet. I definitely could only handle one of those due to the sweetness. I wanted to order a margarita but never could catch the eye of my waitress. I was a little bummed but I am sure there are many more delicious cocktails in my future." ;)

"Gabrian and I shared our dinner. We went with the Artifact Stack (Onion Rings)."

"These were cooked great and crispy. I loved loved loved the BBQ Ranch dressing served with it. I could have eaten it alone it was so good."

"We also shared the Paleonzonic Chicken Sandwich."

"Neither of us cared for the pizza dough but really enjoyed the inside of it. We didn't get the lemon Aioli but had the BBQ ranch on the side with it. You had your choice of sides to go with it and we picked the cinnamon apples for Gabrian. He was not a fan of them."

"Overall, I am glad we went but don't think I will be back anytime in the near future."

If one of the current live reporters there now could find out the price of the Griddled Greek Cheese from the Greece booth that would be awesome! Thanks!

Heading back over there in a bit to explore!!

One more update from yesterday, this one a snack update from Riles_and_Gabe.

She said, "Last review for tonight. You would have thought I learned my lesson from lunch today but apparently I am a sucker for torture. My original plan was to got to Planet Hollywood for dessert with our $15 voucher but we were so tired I wanted to head back to the resort. I saw an ice cream sandwich on the menu earlier today and thought it would be an awesome ending to the day."

"It never occurred to me that 8:30 PM would be rush hour at the food court but it was a zoo. The ice cream line was about 20 deep with only 2 employees working it. I was not that much in need of ice cream that I was willing to wait 30 minutes."

"Gabrian and I went to check out the pastry case. He went with a brownie and apple juice."

"I went with a chocolate cookie with milk."

"Gabrian's brownie was super dry and similar to sawdust. He only made it about half way through. My cookie was advertised as freshly baked. I am not sure what time frame they consider freshly baked...my guess is somewhere in the past week or two."

"To add insult to injury, this dismal dessert cost me almost $10. This was totally my fault. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me!" :guilty:

Wow Gisèle, your lineup is outstanding and you look to be a strong contender in our October/November game. Don't forget to take those photos! :thumbsup2

"Pistachio creme brulee. I liked it, it was very light."

Three weeks of eating and that Pistachio Creme brulee was my favourite dessert of the whole trip:thumbsup2

This thread is providing me with much needed moments of Disney magic at the moment - school is really hard work, the weather is cold and the nights are drawing in. Wish I was there...but this is the next best thing :)

Thanks to all the reporters and to Barb for keeping it going.

Now for our First Update of the Day sent to us this morning by DeeDee (buzz1121).

She said, "Tuesday night's dinner was at 'Ohana."

"As this is a regularly featured review in the thread, I will just note what the pictures depict."

Mixed Greens Salad with a Lilikoi dressing

Pork Dumplings & Honey-Coriander Chicken Wings

Noodles, tossed in a Teriyaki Sauce & Stir-fried Vegetables

Grilled Chicken

Szechuan Sirloin Steak

'Ohana Bread Pudding a la mode topped with Caramel Sauce and Banana

"The only addition to our meal was the presentation of two chocolate anniversary celebration cupcakes."

"While the meal itself was good, I think I am ready for a break from 'Ohana for a while. There is so much hype to this location, but there are so many other great dining locations in the World."

DeeDee also took a photo of the 'Ohana breakfast menu for us...
