Coming to you Live from Disney World!-Take 2 AUG/SEPT WINNERS ANNOUNCED

Yikes! According to Vicki's menu photo at YSH they no longer have the braised beef short-ribs. :scared: What to do, what to do?? :crazy2: That hanger steak that Andrew had may be a good 2nd choice.

The desserts at R&C look fabulous!!

I agree with Becky - a side of broccoli is NOT a snack!! It is like popping a vitamin. I vote for deduction as well. :rotfl2:

DonaldDoleWhip, thank you for those pictures of the GF and Poly! I also thought the new DVC was an eyesore when it was still under construction back in February. Nothing special about it except the same colors and a few decorations on the roof. Why'd they have to make it so huge?
And with how much my mom raved about loving the broccoli at CCH .... no, sorry, I also think points should be deducted. ;)

I may have to go try to score a ressie for Rose & Crown. Their food looks yummy!

A side of broccoli as a snack at Disney World. BROCCOLI! As a SNACK! At DISNEY! This update had me clutching at my pearls and gave my husband the vapors. This is the most sacrilegious thing I've ever heard of! I say Barb should DEDUCT ten points for that! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Haha I read this and laughed out loud, I so agree! Ever time I read one of DonaldDoleWhips dining reports I feel guilty because on my vacations I eat horribly! Usually my Disney day is cupcake, something fried, hunk of red meat, plastic cheese, ice cream, repeat....

Barb- I also try to eat things on vacation that I don't normally make at home.

Ok- the new (hopefully finalized ADRs for next week) are:

18th- dinner at Victoria and Alberts
19th- lunch at mama melrose
20th- dinner at yachtsman steakhouse
21st- dinner at Grand Floridian Cafe
22nd- lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern, dinner at Be Our Guest
23rd- dinner at Ohana
24th- lunch at Tutto Italia, dinner at La Hacienda de Sal Angel
25th- breakfast at Boma

I suspect we may wind up canceling GFC (if too tired) and La Hacienda (if too full from lunch) but we'll see!

I KNOW! Everytime I read reports of salads, veggies I feel like well darn.. I eat completely different on vacation but then again I eat like Im suppose to at home..

We'll be at WDW late this afternoon and I can assure you that you won't see a side of broccoli being sent as one of my live dining updates!! popcorn::

Don't be alarmed if you DO see a carrot cake cookie or a napoleon submitted as evidence of a meal. ;)

DH and DD had the hanger steak at our waiters suggestion, back in July. They both LOVED it!!!

I have at least 10 more updates to post from yesterday, so let's get started with one from Jeanette (JintyB).

She said, "Dinner on Wednesday was at..."

First some menu pics...

"Appetisers...

Scotch egg - yummy."

"Trio of cheeses - also good."

Mary and the Lads - Roasted Shrimp Cocktail with Spicy Bloody Mary mix

And for their entrees...

Fish and chips

Vegetable pie 'n' mash with seasonal vegetables, mushrooms, potatoes and cheddar cheese

Roasted Rack Pork with Colcannon Potatoes, Roasted Apples, and Whole-Grain Mustard Jus

"DH said this was really good."

"Kids salmon."

"We popped outside for Illuminations."

"And then desserts..."

Jaffa tarts - Orange cream-filled cakes with chocolate ganache, raspberry sauce, and fresh oranges

Roasted Peach cheesecake with Almond Brittle

Sticky Toffee Pudding

Kids Fruit Salad

Knickerbocker Glory - Kids Ice Cream & Fruit Sundae

"This was my least favourite meal so far - the Rose and Crown is a good representation of a grotty English pub (complete with sticky tables) but I don't want to be reminded of home!!"

I love all these comments about the broccoli - my coworkers were saying the same thing whenever we were eating lunch this summer. (In particular, they were getting annoyed with me for eating salads without dressing.)

Next in yesterday was this update from Vicki (GoofySon'sMom).

Nope - I wish! I stopped eating red meat and pork in January, and I'm hoping to cut poultry eventually (although chicken is hard to give up since it's such a convenient protein source).

Still, I'm very happy with seafood and veggies - but that doesn't mean I won't treat myself. You'll see that in some upcoming updates. :goodvibes

Stick to your guns; I hear it all the time about what I eat. Over the last couple of years I have lost over 100lbs (and kept it off). While I still love to eat, broccoli is a huge staple to my diet. My trip in November will be a big challenge though with ADR's set for Citricos, Narcoossee's, Flying Fish, Monsieur Paul, Artist Point and Jiko.

Also, I have to let you know that I have always enjoyed reading your food reviews. With most I share your same thoughts and those I don't I still enjoy your thoughts. If you can remember, we traded a few fun barbs back and forth a little over a year ago when LeCellier went signature. Again, love your food reviews. :thumbsup2

You and me both.

I work really hard all year watching what I eat and exercising.

Honestly, my week in Disney is "all bets are off."

It's a fun release, and I just CAN'T watch what I eat at WDW. It's impossible for me.

Oh, it's not that no one reading this thread eats broccoli...it's just that many (most? :lmao:) of us employ that "I'm on vacation!" mentality while at Disney and tend to indulge ourselves way more than on a normal day at home. And there's also the Disney Food Rationale™: "I walked 9 miles in the parks today, I can totally have this planet-sized cupcake!" :rolleyes1

I'm actually a fellow century club member (hollaaaaa PP+!), but unlike DDW, I can never stick to a healthy plan at Disney. I always want the things I can't have at home! And given the number of trips we take, that probably explains my year-long rut. :lmao:

Speaking of Mr. DDW, he sent me this great picture yesterday that was taken after having dinner at 'Ohana.

He said, "I ate at least two dozen shrimp!" :thumbsup2

The owner of the arm that is wrapped around his neck would prefer to remain anonymous, so I'll just leave that half of the picture up to your imagination. ;)

Hey I had broccoli last night for dinner... Vacation is my all bets is off too! Lol. Someone offered me a donut the other day & I sad " no thanks I'd rather skip this donut & have a cupcake in Disney!" Lol
