The next update in yesterday was from Brenda (emmysmommy).


She and Em had dinner on Friday night at...





She said, "Dinner last night was at Shula's at the Dolphin hotel. I will say this up front...Shula's blows Disney away in every aspect but theming (since I'm wayyyy too young to remember Shula from coaching the Miami Dolphins and 100% of the theming is his football career)."




"This is the signed football they bring to the table."



"It is a very dark restaurant so my photos are none too great and no menu photos. Well, except for this one of the menu posted by the entrance to the restaurant..."





"Our wait team consisted of Mario & John and then an assistant for water and such. Three servers for two of us...we received quite the attention you can imagine."


"We were started with hot and delicious sourdough bread with room temp butter, the way it should be."





"I chose one of the featured wines...Justin, a Paso Robles cabernet sauvignon."



"It was perfect."


"We skipped appetizers since we wanted to save room for the delicious steak."


"Em ordered the 16 oz. New York strip cooked medium rare."





"I chose the 8 oz. filet that is not on the printed menu but available (It is the filet for the Surf & Turf)."



"My filet was served with sauce bernaise. They had us cut into the steak to check if it was cooked to our preference. Perfection for both! I never eat an entire steak and this disappeared!!"


"We shared an order of garlic mash potatoes."






"For dessert Em ordered the chocolate lava cake."





"The server deconstructed it and poured the creme anglaise over it at the table."





"It was far too rich for her to eat more than a few bites. This was a dessert that you order ahead of time since they make it to order. I had one bite but it was too chocolaty for me to enjoy."

"The food, the service, and the atmosphere here were phenomenal. This was an awesome meal and a great way to end an incredible day!"

Sadly I'm going to miss the F & W festival for the second year in a row, so this will be the next best thing to being there myself.

It's going to be hard to miss after doing it 2 years in a row for us. I fell like I am missing stuff in my plans though with this trip being 10 days instead of the 2 weeks we had last year! But we will be returning for another week in December so I guess I will survive lol. I'm also sad there are no signature lunches during the time we are here this year. I just posted my Citrico's/Lasseter lunch review and wish we could do another one!

Now for a few more updates from yesterday before it's time to call it a night.

First up is an update from Gin0818, who had breakfast on Friday at Hollywood & Vine's...





Gin said, "I know this place can get a lot of unfavorable reviews but we love it and go here every trip. The food and service are always good and Jill likes the characters even though she doesn't watch the shows too much now."






"Jill's plate is bacon, sausage, a banana, grapes and tater tots. She ate if all except the bacon and she went back for more tater tots. She also got a cupcake to celebrate her birthday."









"My plate was a banana, a chocolate pastry, a cinnamon roll, a turkey sausage, the egg mixture they have out for breakfast burritos with extra cheese and sour cream, and the cheesy hash brown casserole. Everything was very good and I got more cheesy hash browns. They are my favorite." ​

Next in yesterday was Jeanette's (JintyB) update from her dinner on Saturday at... (BOG)
"The food was OK, but we hoped to be wowed. The service was terrible - we didn't see our server during most of the meal, received no drink refills (even when requested), he didn't check how the meals were and when we did see him, he moaned about the card system. He also brought the bill before we could order coffees etc."​

We also ate at BOG that night (we even got seated about 15 mins before our ADR time) but we had excellent service and even thought that the food was surprising good considering how many reviews have been less than stellar. Granted it was not to the level of the Signatures but very good for a 1 TS restaurant. Poor service seems to be a common thread of most bad reviews.

We were also in the West Wing and I can understand that it would be irritating to have so many people coming by to take pics if you were seated near the rose. Luckily we were seated almost as far away from the rose as you can get.

"Tonnarelli - Pasta with zucchini and mint. This was very different but very good."





"Gnocchetti Sardi with sweet sausage ragu. Amazingly good."





"Spaghetti with veal meatballs. Really great."





"Kids mozzarella sticks entree. My daughter loved this."





"Frangelico with my dessert - my favorite way to end an Italian meal! And after that and two glasses of sangria, I'm glad I have autocorrect on this phone!"





"Cappuccino - one of the best. Mom and DH love it."





"Cannoli was amazing!! Better than we have ever had, and we get great Italian pastry in NY."





"Chocolate gelato - creamy and wonderful. My boys stole a lot of this."





"Kids lemon sorbetti - my daughter was CRAZY about this. She scooped and licked the dish until it was clear again."

Now we are switching over to Disneyland for a surprise update from GrandCalifornian.


He said, "We are just under two weeks from heading to WDW, but we spent the day at DLR today so we thought we would do a practice report."

"We ordered a Mickey Mouse pancake, the Steamboat, and a cinnamon roll."



















"DD (Allie) loves pancakes and Cinnamon rolls (who doesn't)."

"I chose the BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger..."





"DW (Melissa) chose the regular cheeseburger..."






"And Allie had chicken nuggets..."






"The fries were great, and reminded us of the QS fries from resorts at WDW. The burgers were fine but we still prefer the ones at Hungry Bear."

Mary said, "While at Animal Kingdom we had an early lunch at:"









"Sorry for the low light shot my phone didn't work to well in the heat."


"Good thing we ate early this place fills up fast. Word must've gotten around how good it is for counter service."



"I had the beef lo mein:"





"Very tasty I enjoyed it. Had a lot of green onion & carrots. The beef was good quality too. My only criticism was a little salty. But overall I was impressed."



"My son had fried rice & egg roll yesterday from China Epcot and it was not good at all in comparison to Yak & Yeti counter service."



"DH had honey chicken. He said it was good but wished the white rice was separate, not on the bottom of the container mixed in with honey chicken."








"DS had the sweet & sour chicken, which was good and white meat. He ate most of it."






"DS got kids meal chicken nuggets, which were better than most other nuggets because they were strips. Good white meat. Didn't get a pic but comes with grapes & carrots."






"For dessert we ordered two banana puddings and chocolate mousse. All agreed the banana pudding was better. Chocolate mousse didn't go over well."

"Our room was ready which was good because Thomas caught a cold yesterday and really needed a nap. After that we headed to our favorite first Disney meal.... Crystal Palace."

She said, "We skipped breakfast today...or rather Em did. I went solo at DHS and picked up a carrot cake cookie at Sweet Spells."

"It is always nice to watch entertaining movie clips while you eat in a car!"


"Here's the menu:"












"Em started with a chocolate shake that she said was creamy delicious."






"I ordered something new from the appetizer menu; spicy buffalo chicken nuggets."



"I honestly didn't expect much from them but they had a kick and were not bad. They were served with celery sticks (too bad I didn't move them for the food photo) and a side of bleu cheese."



"Em went with the Build your own Burger with swiss, bacon, lettuce, and tomato. No mushrooms for her."




"The burger came with some options for the sides, she chose fries. I had a couple fries and although they were good they can't compete with Plaza Restaurant."​

Just a note to GinaMarie,
We lived in Germany for several years and Schoefferhofer was always a favorite of ours. Sadly, I have yet to ever find it in the U.S.
Maybe you will have better luck wherever you live.
If you want to try to replicate it a bit, buy a good German wheat beer and add high quality grapefruit juice to it.

I was thrilled to see it make its way into the Germany Pavillion and I had a couple during my last trip in May. Yummalicious!!

She said, "Tonight we ate at..."















"The salad was fantastic! Couldn't eat enough of it. The dressing had a perfect blend of Italian spices (I think). So good."





"The corn bread was very good. The butter made it taste that much better."





"Fried chicken was juicy and crisp."





"Ribs were spicy and smothered in BBQ sauce. Too much for me but still good."






"Even though the picture came out blurry, the corn was my favorite dish next to the salad. I overheard the people next to us also raving about how good the corn was...so buttery and tasty."





"Beans and mashed potatoes were good."






"Mac & Cheese, regular kids Mac cheese in kids meal."

"Dessert strawberry shortcake was delicious. Whipped cream so light and fluffy."







"The show was fun and entertaining. So glad we finally got to see it. Very talented group of singers."
