Ok. So I just had a cyst removed from my big toe. I'm in a boot right now. The doctor said to wear athletic shoes or some kind of flat shoe that won't hurt my foot. I was wearing flip flops for the most part before my surgery, but it's October in New England and it's getting cold. I really want to avoid athletic shoes unless they look fashionable. I would like to wear flats or comfy moccasins. Any ideas or suggestions for specific shoes that won't break the budget?

check out one of the shoe stores that specializes in orthotics that's local to you.

I have flat feet which isn't helped by the fact that I rarely wear shoes (indoors much of the time). I was VERY surprised when my podiatrist sent me to one of these stores and found the HUGE selection of shoes (or in my case slippers) that are available now for a variety of issues (when I was a kid it was strictly saddle shoes or ugly clunky women's shoes:().

they have a nice variety of shoes that look fashionable such that you would still wear them post recovery (and not horrendously expensive).

I work with teachers and one's doctor recommend FitFlops after she had foot problems. She told others and now about every woman in the building wears them and teachers stand for hours. I have flat feet and they are the only shoe I wear for trips with a lot of walking that do not have my ankles or non-existent arches aching at night. They are pricey, but worth it and they come in styles besides flip flops.

Shoes by Born are also comfy.
