Comfortable/Uncomfortable Beds

Thanks, everyone! Very helpful. 10 years ago, I could have slept fine in any bed. I even preferred a firmer bed. Just getting old, I guess. In fact, if you like a firm bed, you may love OKW, but I had a hard time sleeping there.

I actually did ok at Wilderness Lodge in March of 2009 and at Port Orleans Riverside in January of 2008.

The Swan and Dolphin both have the Starwood Hotels "Heavenly Beds." They are to sleep for.

It'd be really nice if some of you guys would post the dates of when you went to these resorts. I'm a little hesitent about my stay at POFQ in September when I hear POP actually has better beds. What? Shouldn't moderate be better?

The last stay we had at POFQ was in May 2009. The beds to us were fine. Not the most comfortable ones ever, but not bad either. I can't wait until they renovate the rooms there!

The beds at the Contempary are wonderful! On the other hand, the beds at POP were dreadful...bring your Advil!

I'm a bed snob. You spend half of your life sleeping so you should be comfortable. At home we have a wonderful bed, so when I go on vacation I need a nice bed. I've stayed at all the All Star resorts, the CBR, CSR, GF, and Poly. GF and Poly have great beds, I think the GF beds are the best! we're staying at the Contemporary at the end of the month, so I hope those beds are good! There's nothing worse than going on vacation and sleeping on a brick! We stayed at one of those vacation houses offsite twice and I thought I was going to die - those beds were sooo cheap and uncomfortable! It was a shame because the house was great and we had sooo much space.

Well, this is hard to answer because all answers are totally subjective. What is a comfortable bed to one person is pure torture to another. Case in point: last year on vacation we rented a house in Inlet Beach, Fl. It had the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on. I even stripped it down before we left to find the name and model # of the mattress and wrote it down. On the way home, my dh said, "I'll be so glad to get back home. That was an awful mattress and really bothered me every night.":sad2:

As far as WDW properties that I've stayed at, Dolphin wins hands down. The newly refurbed BWV bed was really nice too, but BCV bed was hard and uncomfortable to me when we stayed in 2006. Of course, I bet if you asked my DH he'd have a different answer :rotfl:

lol good example!

I need a slightly firmer mattress for my back, so what I like others might not. I will also say that I love the Swan's Heavenly Beds! We even tried to buy one for our home, but couldn't find a good deal. The Contemporary beds were good, too. I haven't stayed at the All Star or Pop in about 4 years, but they were a little too bouncy for me, didn't absorb as much "energy" as I'd like. I was also disappointed in the mattresses at Wilderness Lodge last Christmas, didn't seem as supportive as a mattress should be.

I have stayed at all the mods, POP, AKL, and WL. I think of those Coronado Springs has the best bed. I just got back from a stay at AKL and couldn't believe how awful the beds were. They were very uncomfortable and squeaked like crazy.

I agree with you about AKL...awful beds (they squeaked everytime you moved and it was so uncomfortable), after one night at AKL we tried to switch to Swan, Dolphin or GF but was booked.

GF and Swan has the best beds...crossing my fingers that YC has comfortable beds too.

I wish we would've tried to switch. We were there on an AP rate so I knew if we tried to switch we would have to pay rack rate. So we just stayed and squeaked.

We tried to switch but all 3 hotels where booked so we stayed with the squeaked (I paid full price for the room too...my husband joked around and said he want to save money and try value and what kind of beds will you sleep in). At least at AKL, we had a great view and saw alot of animals and can say we tried it once.

Contemporary and BC have EXCELLENT beds. Nice pillowtops. Soft, but also firm. I get hip pain from sleeping on my side on hard beds. Did not happen to me at either of these two hotels.

Pop century is AWFUL. Actually, all the values are awful. Feels like sleeping on a firm trampoline with a sheet over it. HARD and BOUNCY! Ugh. I slept awful there.

I so agree with the bolded. I actually liked the bed at the Cabins at FW. It was not hard and even though it was a double or full sized bed it was still roomy enough for my youngest and I to sleep in. I will NEVER stay at POP again.

POFQ is undergoing a rehab starting in the fall -- perhaps the beds will be replaced? POP is undergoing a rehab right now and some people may have had new beds?

I am at the POP right now and was at the Cabins at FW this past week (5/31-6/5)

The Contemporary beds are very comftorable.

I have stayed at Contemporary and Grand Floridian recently. Contemporary has fantastic beds, would buy it if I could. Grand Floridian not as nice, on the firm side. If I had it my way I would only stay Contemporary but one stay at Grand Floridan and my DW was hooked.

I have to agree with the CSR beds. They are probably the best because they are the newest.

Will stay at POP in under a month and will be able to compare.
