I always wear birkenstocks-year round. Except when it rains. We are heading to the parks in early June and I know it rains just about every day in the summer time in Florida. I don't want to wear my birks and ruin them. I need some suggestions for comfortable, supportive sandles I can wear instead to the parks. Cannot wear tennis shoes.
Thanks for any suggestions you can give me.

I only wear my Birks to the parks. We have gotten drenched in the past, and my Birks actually surived just fine. I know they always say they shouldn't get wet, but mine were fine when they dried out, and I am still wearing them 3 years later. Mine are microfiber, not leather on the top, but my footbeds survived too. I take two pairs, since they take awhile to dry if they do get wet.

I've always worn my birks also, and have the leather ones ( abuse them) I also bring a back up pair in case they do get wet.

I have birks too but I dont find them that comfortable when Im at DW. However my Skecher running shoes or the sandals from them I have too were the most comfortable things I ever wore in WDW

LLBean makes a really good Birks knockoff, and cheap. Don't last forever, but very supportive and comfortable. Cork/leather are the most comfy. LandsEnd also has some comfy sandals, with Velcro adjustments, so they fit very well...not quite as supportive, but good cushioning. Also inexpensive.

Wore my birks in Maui, climbing around waterfalls, mud, everything-they took it just fine.

Try the waterproof birks. My DH got a pair to wear last summer at a state park in Ohio where he spent hours every day in the river - wading, tubing, etc. They do not have a cork footbed, but he swore they were as comfortable and supportive as his regular arizona birks. Check out ebay and look for ads that list waterproof or swimming birks as catagories. We got his on ebay for a great price and he will be using them again this summer.

Teva sandals, Teva Olawahu flip flops, Teva Mush flip flops--see a pattern here? I love my Tevas.
