I'm looking for cute princess outfits for my DDs 4 and 2. The Disney princess dresses don't seem like they'd be very comfortable for a day in the MK, but I'd like them to have something they can feel special in - especially since we have late lunch ADRs at Cindies!

Any ideas?

I always just buy cute fun outfits at walmart that are disney themed. I always feel bad for the little girls in those princess dresses. Especially in the summer they look so hot. Etsy has some really nice handmade outfits that are really cute.

They have really nice princess themed nightgowns on disneystore.com. They are soft and look like dresses

I bought my daughters some shirts from DisneyStore.com and a few t-shirts off of etsy and put them with skorts. They looked really cute every day we were there, and they were very comfortable. If you will be going in cooler weather, you could do skirts with leggins paired with a Disney or etsy top. I bought the clothes in the year leading up to our last trip, so we would take them out every once and a while and try them on. Believe me, my girls couldn't wait to wear their "Disney Clothes."

If you have a sewing machine come on over to the Disboutique Board. Lots of helpful people to help you learn to make your own princess dresses.

That's what I did. The dresses are made out of cotton or cotton/poly blend and are cool enough for the warm weather. My niece's got lots of attention from the CM's while wearing them.

If you can't sew, there are some on the Disboutique Board that will make custom dresses, look in the signature area to see who does.

I agree about making your own. I'm making dd#1 a Merida dress and dd#2 a Rapunzel dress for our Christmas trip.

My daughter wanted to look like a cute little princess but comfort was a must for her. I used to put her in leggings, with a sparkly tutu, a princess t-shirt, and a little tiara. She could wear her sneakers or crocs with that outfit. easy.

I would recommend this route.

Also, have you tried the fancy pajama nightgowns from the Disney Store? Some look almost like the regular princess dresses, but a lot less cumbersome.

We brought my DD at 2 and then 3yrs old. She spent most of her time in the MK and EP in princess dresses or her Minnie costume by her own choice. Both times she wore street clothes to MK and then changed into her Cindy dress for our CRT rezzies, both times she refused to get changed back afterwards. Both times she wore her princess dress to our breakfast rezzies at Askershus (sp?) and both times she did not want to change into street clothes afterwards. We go offseason so heat was not a factor. Was it a pain to carry a wardrobe change every day so she'd be comfortable. Only a little. But it was worth it to make her trip more magical. To AK and DHS she wore personalized T shirts with various accessories (tiara's, jewelery, hair ribbons, etc.) to make it special.

It's been too long, but we are going again in Oct when DD is 6. Only this time with her twin sisters, 2 at the time (which explains our hiatus). That will require some different planning!

When I took my daughter that age I packed her lots of comfy clothes plus her three princess dresses for meals (two Disney Store and one cheapy one someone gave us that was held together with safety pins!) We were there for ten days and I think there were only two days I was able to get her into the "comfy" clothes. She only wanted to wear her princess dresses. Usually I would have her wear a camisole or t-shirt (or turtleneck when it was cold!) underneath and shorts or leggings if appropriate. She wore shoes and socks or sandals with the dresses. I didn't think it would be comfortable, but she apparently did!

I would highly suggest checking out the Disboutiquers thread on the family board if you might try sewing. And a few suggestion is you want to do it as easily as possible. One of my favorites is the tshirt dress. Take a nice tshirt, cut it to waist or empire length on your daughter. Then take a rectangle of fabric, gather to the same width as the hem of your cut shirt and sew it one. Just hem the fabric at the bottom. You can use a Disney shirt, Disney fabric, or plain shirt or fabric. Any combination you and your daughters like. Your can always sew fancy trim on the bottom or sleeve hems too if you want. These are very comfortable for the girls, and can still be a 'princess' dress.
If you are more ambitious, and peasant dress done in the correct colors or fabrics will look very nice too. And still be quite comfortable. Both can be layered with long sleeved shirts or leggings. For that matter, both can be made with long sleeves. Check in with the Disboutiquer's if you considering making something, it's a very helpful group who can give you far more suggestions then I can. If all else fails, I second the idea of Etsy-you have to pay, but people do some beautiful work.
