O.K., I am used to the heat and humidity of Florida, used to it being hot during the day and on into the evening. I have been told that things are a little different out in Anaheim, so I am having some packing dilemma's.

We are going to be in the area starting on Friday, May 21 and not leaving until May 30. I know I can look at extended weather forcast, but I don't think that 80 deg. in Anaheim is the same as 80 deg. in Orlando.

Am I going to be comfortable in capri's during the day or will I wish I had on shorts? Trust me, the crowds would prefer me in capri's, but I am a hot natured person, so I want to make sure I will be cool enough.

In the evening am I going to need more than a light jacket, like a windbreaker, or will I wish I had something more like a fleece?

My view on this is going to be a little different because I'm Canadian, so even in -5 degres C you will still see me around in a t-shirt and flipflops

Having said that tho, I usually wear lulu lemon(sweats) for pants and tank tops -BUT- I do keep a sweater with me. During the day it always quite warm, but I find there is quite a drastic drop in temperature in the evenings(which I'm never prepared for...).

Wear summer clothes for the afternoon but keep something to keep your warm in the evening-you'll do just fine.

I checked out your lululemon as I had not heard of it before, and it doesn't appear as if they make things for pooh-sized people. :sad2:

capris and a tank top should be just fine. At night I wear jeans and sweatshirt and I usually end up hot.

Native southern Californian here... as we typically visit Disneyland around July through September, the weather is pretty hot. I normally wear jeans (sometimes capris) and a tank top and have a light jacket for the evening. I am very comfortable with this type of outfit. My Mom on the other hand, who is typically the "hottest" of the group, wears shorts a tank top and takes a light jacket if she needs it. Hope this helps!

I think you are right. 80 in FL is not the same as 80 in Anaheim due to the lack of humidity. Everyone's opinion is likely to be relative to where they live. Having grown up in WV, I understand humidity. I now live in the desert though and have become very acclimated. lol We normally go in March. We wear jeans and dress in layers. At 80 I am plenty comfortable in jeans and a tank top or tshirt. Being out in the sun, I often wish I were in capris though. Nobody wants to see my pasty white legs in shorts. lol You get down into the low 70's or below and my wimpy Phoenix self wants a jacket/light fleece. lol

I was there in August last year, and I'd walk from the Fairfield every morning, I am an early bird, so I'd be there by park opening time or a little after. I wore capris, light weight short sleeved or 3/4 sleeve shirts (I only like cotton or other breathable materials) and the best thing that I brought was my fleece zip up (only the top part zips) from Sears/Land's End. I ended up buying 2 more, because I loved it so much! I have a red, brown and dark blue one now. The 2 extra I bought were 1/2 price at Sears! They are great because they are lightweight yet warm, and when it gets too hot, I would just wrap it around my waist! It can also fold up to fit in a large bag. This time we are going to be there around the same time as you are, in fact, the same first day! Have fun!!

I have the same question we are going june 1 to june 7. we live in Hawaii so is shorts and flip flops year round. We have two girls 3 and 7 should they wear jeans or shorts? is a hoddie kind of jacket ok? for me is ok shorts a t-shirt and maybe a jacket for the afternoon?

thank you

You will want a jacket for when the sun goes down, the temp drops significantly. Same for early monrings, especially if fog rolls in (typically called "June Gloom").

My niece (4) will go in shorts in the morning with a jacket. I take my lil' one (21 months) in pants with a jacket and take shorts for when it gets warmer. When we go back in the evening, they wear pants, long shirts and heavier jackets.

We will be there at the same time as you and I would plan to wear capris and a tank top or s/s shirt and bring a fleece jacket for at night. My kids will wear shorts and s/s shirt and bring a jacket. We may go back to our hotel and wear jeans in the evening but I think even if you have shorts on and a jacket you would be fine.
It's 80 degrees of dry heat and it's so different then humidity.

I'm in WA and when it's 70 most people are in shorts and probably a sweatshirt. So it just depends on what you think HOT is.

Thanks for all the feedback. I think I am going to have to go back and reassess my original packing thoughts.

With dry heat in the 80's, wearing shorts and a tank top, you will be perfect. And trust me, people are only into themselves--they won't even notice your legs! :lmao:

In the evenings you are going to want jeans or capris, and a light jacket, as it will drop down pretty quickly. Whether you want fleece or something lighter depends on whether you plan to walk around and do things, or sit huddled on the rapidly cooling pavement waiting for entertainment. I think a hoodie would be perfect.

Am I going to need to use sunscreen. If I were in Orlando the end of May for a week, I would get fried. Just wondering if I need to get some sunscreen to take with me.

YES! suncreen...you can get fried in 60 degree weather and not know because you don't "feel" hot!! (personal experience:headache:)
I think for May, capri's and tank top/short sleeve will be fine. Like a pp said, 80's in socal are different than florida 80's. I can do just fine with jeans during the day, although capris are the way to go and I don't think you would need shorts. I do recommend a jacket since the temp drops with the sun, but I tend to get cold easier. Many people are ok with a light windbreaker, if it is cooler than that it will be a good excuse to buy a new DL sweatshirt :rolleyes1

I too am from Canada so I can definitely relate to all of this. I usually wear shorts and capris during the day with a tank top or light t-shirt, and in the evenings I wear yoga pants and carry a light sweater. I find The end of May, early June to be the perfect temperature. Its what we find our summers to be here in Vancouver.

This poster being from Florida, I am going to recommend that you bring a sweat shirt and some yoga pants or jeans or something for the evenings, but during the day, you could feel comfortable in a pair of shorts or capris. Just bring something you can wrap around you in the morning and in the evenings. Reminder that May is "May Gray" and June is "June Gloom" meaning that it can be over cast in the morning but the clouds break away by noon and it gets hot. :thumbsup2 Good luck with the packing!!!
