Where did you got the bad reviews? I have to stay at that hotel, during Hurricane Charlie's visit in 2004. The hotel is nice. I never saw anything wrong with the hotel, but other than the lights went off when Hurricane Charlie hit the Orlando area. However the hotel was nice. I never had the chance to see the pool, cause they close it during the Hurricane. But if you don't like the hotel, you may cancel and move next door to Westgate Lakes Resorts which is a TIMESHARE resort. But I never saw a bad thing about the Comfort Suites!

I read this at the tripadvisor webpage.
But we can not cancel. We only have a 3 night stay.

I seem to find that many times the reviews on tripadvisor tend to be negative. I would take it with a grain of salt, unless someone on this board can relate a really bad stay. Good Luck.

It's been several years since I've stayed there, but I had no complaints. It's rather no frills, but doesn't cost a lot.

It did catch on fire while I was there, but that's another story (and outside of a stairwell being burned, not really as interesting as it may sound).

We stayed there a long time ago, I think it was 1999. It was o.k. the room was showing some age, but, it wasn't dirty. The pool area was nice, and the breakfast bar had some good selections. If they have renovated it recently I'm sure it will be fine.

My sister stayed there, when I went to meet up with her there, I was not impressed. Some of the stairwells smelled funny. The sofa-bed in her room collapsed when the kids sat on it, the room seemed to need painting & renovations.. she was ok with it because it was cheap. I didn't like it. But then again, it could have just been her room & bldg she was in. I know I have had that happen to me. I have loved a place and another person has hated it. The Wyndham Orlando is a prime example... there are negative reviews about that place, I love it! We never had a bad room or bad experience there at all... If you can't get out of staying there just be sure you like the room you are in. If not, have them switch you out.
