This hotel has a 49$ rate and is close to the airport. Has anyone stayed there or know if this area of town is desirable?

You might want to check on the the Orlando Area Hotels & Attractions forum. I'd imagine somebody on there will have some feedback (or you'll at least be able to find a thread regarding that hotel . . . . if the search feature is working.)

Just from past experience with other Comfort Suites I've stayed at, they're generally nice. Nothing fancy and the amenities aren't quite as nice as a Courtyard or Hampton Inn Suites. But for $50 it's probably a good deal if they're like all the rest. At other cities like Atlanta and Nashville I've generally paid about $65-80 a night for one.

I was actually looking at the place for awhile too along with the Courtyard at WDW. Then I decided to splurge since it will only be for one night and got my wife and I a suite at the Marriott Cypress Harbour resort. It's about twice what we were originally looking to spend, but it also has about 3 times the space plus a huge jacuzzi in the master beroom/bathroom and a nice screened in porch overlooking a golf course and lakes (plus I'm a Marriott Rewards member so I get double-points for staying here.) I was almost tempted to cancel our stay at Port Orleans and just bunk up here. But I do love staying inside WDW so we'll stay put.

You might want to poke around on Hotwire too. We have stayed at the Orlando Airport Amerisuites a couple of times after getting them via Hotwire for $33 (plus tax and fee, which will bring it closer to $40 total). The hotel was decent, offered a free continental breakfast, and a free shuttle. Hotwire doesn't tell you what hotel you're getting till you book, but you're usually pretty safe if you choose the one with the suite amenities (laundry, microwaves, etc.). I have also been playing around with Priceline and have gotten the Renaissance and both La Quinta airport locations for $27-$28 for upcoming trips (we also have gotten the Fairfield free for a couple with our Marriott Rewards points).

Another vote for the Amerisuites at MCO> There are actually two of them at the airport. Never gotten that $33 rate thogh. Been paying 49-59....

The Amerisuites we've gotten via Hotwire is the one on Forbes. Never been to the other one, but the one we stayed at was nice...the shuttle came promptly to pick us up when we called from the airport, and there was a TGI Firday's within walking distance for dinner. I almost booked them again for a couple of our upcoming cruises (rates were $33 to $35, depending on the date), but I ended up experimenting with Priceline for fun and ended up with two different airport La Quintas for the two trips (one for $27 and one for $28).
