Just came back from 7 night stay at Comfort Suites Maingate East. This was a very nice hotel. The staff could've been a little more friendlier(not every clerk had smiles but, not difficult either). I had a room on 6th floor facing the pool. I thought it would be loud but, did not hear a thing. The location was in walking distance to Old Towne, they had stores and small carnival rides and car show on weekend. I thought this would also be loud, but it was not. I was in a 1 room suite with sofa bed and 2 queens. I had 5 and slept comfortable. There was plenty of room to move around. They had small fridge and microwave along with some good cupboard space. Right now they do have shuttles to Disney parks but, only 3 times in morn and 3 times to pick up at night, But, it was a big bus and they store strollers in compartment under bus, no carrying stroller on bus and knocking everyone around. They also have shuttles to Sea World and Universal but, I drove myself. Driving was pretty easy and the main road (rt 192)had every store imaginable. There was a Wal-Mart a few miles away and also some good flea markets and stores with discounted Disney stuff, saved a lot of money in souvenirs. The people with the shuttles have a separate area on the side of the front desk and they also sold me Sea World tickets with my Entertainment book coupon so, I did not have to wait in Sea World line and they honored my discount without any commitments. They do try to get you to come over to visit their resort for 1 1/2 hour. If you do, they will HIGHLY discount your hopper tickets or Seaworld, Universal tickets. They were going to save me over $100 on 5 - 1day Universal tickets but, I did not go. Also, they were NOT pushy and they were friendly and very helpful with directions. They also gave me 5 free coupons to get 5 free Sea World magnets (this was AFTER I turned down their visit). I was very happy with this hotel. The maids were very friendly and always smiling and saying hello. I got a price of $60 per night. They have free continental breakfast every morning, it was OK, pancakes were cold and stale but, they have microwave. But, on the whole I was extremely pleased and highly recommend this hotel.

Thank you...we are staying there in April. How was the pool? Were the grounds landscaped at all? We have a rate of $55 for the Easter week, do you feel that is reasonable? Thanks for the info!

Emmy

P.S. This is a fairly new hotel isn't it?

The pool area was very nice. It was kidney shaped pool that went 3-5ft so no diving. They also had a hot tub separate on the side. I got a rate at $60 night and was very satisfied. You will enjoy the stay and the area. The hotel is kind of located by itself the back is just open ground. I think it was built in 2000 so, it is relitively new. The rooms were very updated and nice.

Thank you for the report! We will be staying there in two weeks and I am so excited to hear good things about this hotel. I know you did not use the shuttles for Universal, but do you know how often they ran? Thanks in advance.

Sorry, I do not remember the times for the shuttles. I rented a car from Dollar for $229 for 8 days. It was an Intrpid with plenty of room. Driving is easy, follow the signs and the desk gave good directions. The shuttles do not leave every hour. I think 3 times in morn and 3 times in eve to pick up. That is how the Disney Parks were. But, you are going a little later so, they might be less. Let me know how you make out. Opinions vary but, I had no problems at Comfort and enjoyed the walking in Old Town and all the shopping. You can probably call Comfort and ask them for the schedule if you want to see if you should rent a car or not.

We will be there in 3 weeks!!! What restaurants are nearby?? We are driving down so will have our own car. How crowded was the pool and hot tub? We are also a family of 5, and the kids have just gotten too big for one regular hotel room! Were the sinks outside the bathroom? I find that very helpful in the morning, someone can be brushing their teeth while someone else is using the bathroom. How long did it take you to get to the parks? We will be going to Magic Kingdom and MGM in the mornings, trying to get there early each day.

OK, there are many restaurants on the main 192 highway. Denny's, Olive Garden, Macaroni Grill to mention a few. Also, McDonald's, KFC. I suggest taking car out on rt 192 and just driving down and looking at all restaurants and then just turn around and go back. I also found a Wal-mart this way. You can walk to Old Towne and also get some food. There is a General Store in walking distance, get a coupon for a free Coupon book to redeem there. The pool and hottub was not crowded when I was there, there were times when we were only ones in Hot Tub. But, a couple nights there were a few families. There is the bar right there also and tables and chairs. I brought food from KFC and ate there with no problems. The rooms are very nice sized with safe in closet. Yes, there is a sink outside bathroom above the small refrigerator and also a sink in the bathroom.

As I stated there were three times in morning shuttles. I know one of the times was 8:20am so, this was getting you at Magic Kingdom pretty early and they pick up at closing and a couple earlier times. I did both, shuttle and drive. Since parking is $7, the shuttle was pretty good. If you do drive and go to different Disney Parks on the same day, keep your parking card on windshield and you only have to pay for parking one time per day, just show your ticket to cashier. To drive to Disney, you basically go to main rt 192 highway and make a left and follow signs. You will be in Magic Kingdom under 15 minutes.

Zonk.....I could not agree with you more. This hotel was very nice, clean and quiet. We had a room on the first floor and I was worried about noise from the pool but it was never an issue. The staff was nice and and very helpful. I was approached only once about touring their resort. I declined and there was no pressure. Not being big breakfast eaters, we were very satisfied with bagels and a piece of fruit.

I paid 42.50 p/n thru hotelmart.com. Of course that does not include the 12% tax but at any rate, this was an awesome deal.

The shuttles to Universal and Sea World were long. A minimum of an hour ride.
The shuttles to Disney were great, quick and pleasant.
I would go back to this hotel without a doubt.

Zonk..did you try that sling shot ride at Old Towne? :earseek:

NO, NO, NO...NO slingshot for me. I am scared of height, although I am 6'4". Don't like plane ride either but, I flew. It really is a nice place because I like to walk and Olde Towne was nice to just get out and walk around. I am glad that I stayed away from the Universal shuttle then. It was probably a 35-40 minute ride by car. I drove to Universal and then Sea World twice (they stamped a free day for us), kids wanted to feed the Dolphins.
