After a lot of research and suggestions by you here at DIS, I believe I am going to book a one night stay with Comfort Suites Maingate East on the night that we arrive in Orlando. We are a group of 11 going to WDW for our family reunion in early June so we are booking two suites.
I was going to go with a cheaper suite hotel, but I couldn't overlook the fact that it was in a less than sparkling/safe location. Factoring in the expense of breakfast for everyone against the free deluxe contintental breakfast at the Comfort Suites, it seems like Comfort is the best bargain for better accomodations. Besides that, my family voted for it.
Even so, I'm still a bit nervous. The price seems too good to be true. Booking direct on their website, it's going to cost less than $240 for TWO suites??? Call me a wary traveler who has spent too many nights on the road. There's got to be a catch.
Can anyone who has stayed there tell me about their experience? Each suite will have a lot of people getting cleaned up in rapid succession. Is there plenty of hot water and water pressure? And what about clean towels? In the pictures that I saw, I never saw more than three clean towels on the rack at a time. This concerns me as there will be five to six people getting cleaned up in each suite. Since we are only going to be there to sleep, clean up, and eat, this concerns me. It's a hassel to have to call down and wait for more towels or even have to go down to the desk to get them ourselves.
I'm sorry if my concerns seem petty. I realize that they are. But I also realize how much they contribute to an overall pleasant family experience. For us, that means no one will have to wait impatiently for the water to heat up, no one will leave the shower feeling unclean (and therefore cranky) because they didn't feel like they got a good wash from lack of pressure, and no one will have to share an already damp towel with someone else. There's something special about a fresh towel to dry off with (especially in my family).
Please share with me your experiences at this hotel. I don't expect nightly turn down service, chocolate mints on my pillow, or point folded toilet paper. I would like basic hospitality. I appreciate any and all comments.
