Hey folks

Hope you are all well - I was wondering if someone could give me some feedback on this hotel. I am getting decent rates for it and wondered if I would need to hire a car - if their shuttle was good enough to all of the parks, I probably wouldn't need to and just get a taxi to and from Sanford. Can anyone comment? Thanks.

Also, any tips on flight only for June would be ace - I'm getting 449 each with Mytravel for early June - anyone know of any better (flying from Scotland).

Thanks so much!

Nick

hi nick....we stayed there in november 04. i thought the shuttle was easy enough to use,you are given a flyer with all the times on for pick-ups etc and we had no problems at all. the hotel itself was ok no room problems ( we had 2 rooms for our party ) and the restaurant was not bad either. we were given a voucher for free b/fast and 1 free evening meal so we saved some money there. 1 point tho the comfort inn is right near the I4 and you do hear a bit of traffic noise but imo its not a bad price to pay for a good room rate, we are looking to go back later this year and if we dont stay on-site we would definately use this hotel again.

Thanks Natalie

I am hoping that we will be sooo shattered from the parks that sleeping won't be a problem!

Thanks for getting back to me - I am thinking this would be a good choice given the shuttles and just decide to get a shuttle from Sanford and do without a car this trip.

Does anyone have any advice of a good firm to use for the trip to and from the airport?

Thanks again

Nick

We stayed there about 8 years ago - I'm sure the rooms have been refurbished since then and now have extra stuff like fridges. Found it fine for a reasonably price base, restaurant seemed fine and you are within walking distance (though it's a bit of a cross country walk!) of Crossroads shopping centre.

The shuttle was fine, though of course the times are (were) quite limited, and it can get very crowded on the last bus home. And if you want a bit of P and Q, don't get a pool view - can get very noisy.

Hi All,

Thinking about booking here next year so really interested in this thread.

We're going for 3 weeks and plan so spend just over 2 weeks here before moving onto a Disney hotel for the last few days.

Has anyone ever stayed there that long, and would you recommend it as a hotel you could stay for that long, or is it really more a short stay type of place?

maleficent_man - would you mind letting me know where you got your rates from please?

Thanks in advance.

Hey

No probs mate - have been floating around different sites - I can't remember the exact site but if you go to www.tripadvisor.com and find the hotel, click on compare prices and from the list there is one (I think it is hotelclub or something like that) - it is working out about £25 a night for both.

I am not sure to book here or not - I like the idea of spending a few days at Disney - I could maybe look at splitting it up.

Let me know how you get on - any probs finding the info, give me a shout and I'll see if I can find the exact link.

Nick

Stayed there in October '03 and found it adequate, but good VfM - clean and tidy, with good range of amenities but nothing more than that. Felt secure, that I do remember!

Position is fairly close to Downtown Disney but at least 20 minutes walk away and 10 minutes to Crossroads area for example for good selection of food and supermarket (Goodings). Saw some large-ish queues for the shuttle each morning, even though it was pre-October half term when lots of Brits descend.

Would recommend a car for visit to Lake Buena Vista area in general, including Premium Outlets which is visible on the other side of I4 carriageway, bt oh so far away in reality.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for getting back Nick, much cheaper prices on the Hotel Club site than I'd found.

We stayed here two years ago. We had a family suite which had a separate area for the kids with a bunk bed and a single bed in an enclosed area with their own TV. The room had a mini fridge and a microwave. We found it clean and the staff friendly. Good value for money. The restaurant is not bad buffet breakfast and the little shop is fully stocked although it was quite exspensive- price you pay for convenience. It is very handy to Crossroads and Downtown Disney. We found the area very nice. Our room overlooked the parking lot away from the highway so their was no noise and the pool was empty a lot of the time so the kids loved it - more room to splash.
Hope you have a great holiday.

Yeah Wee-Haggis has a very good point there - ask for a room on the parking lot side when booking, even though that sounds "daft". The other side of the hotel faces I4 and the road noise is quite noticeable.

 We stayed there on our last trip and liked it so much we chose to go again this year, both trips for 3 weeks as we felt really at home there.
We found the location unbeatable with access to all the parks by easy routes. Disney via Hotel Plaza Boulevard and Universal via Turkey Lake Road, both avoiding I4 which will be especially bad now that major roadworks have begun. Didn't use the shuttles but they seemed to turn up according to the schedules as far as we could tell.
Nicely landscaped grounds and good quiet pools. Plenty of free parking and excellent 24 hour security around.
The rooms are semi-suite style open plan with a fridge, microwave and kettle. There is a small table and chairs and we found it adequate for our needs. Rooms were very well cleaned and maintained. Laundry facilities, vending machines and an ice machine were on the landing.
I will repeat the tip about the rooms on the car park side being quieter!
This year there is a continental breakfast included in the room rate so extra value there, an upgrade to a full cooked buffet is around $5 and we found the breakfast selection to be great with friendly service. There is also a kids-eat-free program. Evening meals were OK but preferred to eat elsewhere as there is so much better close by.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel as excellent value in a generally more expensive area.

Good point about the back way to Universal!

We only used it the once, but good way of avoiding I4.

Does anyone know another way to Sea World from this hotel without going back via Crossroads area?

 you can get to Sea World and Discovery Cove following Palm Parkway north to the Central Florida Parkway. I found a good map here
