My 12 year old son plays the trombone and had his concert recently. One of the numbers was Bridge on the River Kwai/Colonel Bogey March.

Immediately it brought to mind:

Comet it makes your mouth turn green
Comet it tastes like Listerine
Comet it will make you vomit
So get some Comet and vomit today.

So as they played I sang...quietly to my husband. He said he never heard that before! Really? My mother was there and looked at me and said...DON'T! She remembered. :rolleyes1

Anyone remember these lyrics?

yep,i do.i think i sang that for a music class once. (i went to catholic school ) and the nuns werent too impressed with my song choice.:lmao:
my kids dont even know what comet is!

I remember is, but we sang it a little differently

Comet, It makes your mouth turn green
Comet, it tastes like gasoline
Comet, it makes you vomit
So try some comet and vomit today

Good memories :rotfl2:

Mine either!

We used to sing
Comet, will make your father mean
Comet, will make your mother scream
Comet, will make you vomit
So get some Comet, and vomit, today

My high school's fight song was set to Colonel Bogey March - rival schools would shout the Comet lyrics during games!

Ah, the classics...

And:

The worms crawl in, the worms crawl out,
The worms play pinochle on your snout...

listerine version here. Just as standard as "on top of spaghetti" and "jingle bells, batman smells."

Years ago when I was teaching 1st grade, we gathered several classes and were singing songs for fun. One of the teachers started "do your ears hang low?" I about died. I never knew those were the words because I had learned it as a parody with the word "****s" where the word ears goes.

Oops - I got censored! I thought since a lot of people use that word regularly (I don't usually) that it wouldn't. Hint - think of a well endowed female.

memories - thats for sure! :) Makes me smile to see others have some of the same.

I never heard this song until my kids were little. I think it was Barney? where I first heard it. Now, you put a new light on it! I will have to sing this to my husband later, see if he gets as hysterical as I did.

I learnde it in a Babysitter's Club book. I then taught it to my sisters and we would sing it while sliding around the back of the station wagon. Super. Sing an annoying song while not wearing a seatbelt while parents are driving you to FL! Sounds safe, right?
In school, we sang a version of "Joy to the World." It began with, "Joy to the world, the school's on fire.." Yikes. That would have you suspended these days!

We always sang it:

Comet, it makes your teeth so clean
Comet, it tastes like gasoline
Comet, it makes you vomit
So get some Comet and vomit today

Oh, boy - I don't remember those specifically,,, but I do remember Mad Magazine doing a BUNCH of similar parody songs, many, many, many, many, ma(STOP IT, Ronda! you don't want them to know how old you are!) years ago!
