Comedy of Disney Transpo

Had the same issue at POR last month. 3 empty Epcot and Animal Kingdom passed by for every 1 jam-packed Magic Kingdom bus.

You can bypass this by taking an empty bus to a different park and then hopping. It's much faster than waiting for an MK bus. I"m not saying that Disney shouldn't fix this, but you shouldn't wait an hour, either. After 20 minutes, just take a different bus.

Sure, that would be an awesome plan if you knew for sure it would be an hour wait. The problem is there is no way of knowing. When you arrive at the bus stop the next bus you want could be there in 30 seconds or 30 minutes. There is absolutely no way to know.

If only Disney would invest $1.5 billion in some technology where they could get up to date information to guests using a smartphone app and then equipped their busses with GPS locators so they would know where each is located at all times. That way the guests could look and see the exact time the next bus they need will arrive.

Oh wait...they already have both of those things. They just haven't tied the 2 systems together.

There's a Disney bus app for iPhone and Android called Dpart that might be helpful. IDK how accurate it is, but it's something worth looking into.

~You've got a great sense of humor. Seriously, where is the fleet coordinator??? Four empty buses is just inefficient and a total waste of gas, time and resources. How frustrating --especially for the guests who are waiting. Hope you enjoy the rest of your day! :goodvibes

We had this same issue when staying at POR last June. There was never once a fleet coordinator, even during the busy morning hours, or before evening EMH. The issue (mainly with the South Depot) at POR is that there are two pavilions with two parks designated at each. When lines get long, the two pavilions sort of meld together and no one can really tell which line is which or who is waiting in which line. It all sort of becomes one big hoard of people. To add to the silliness, there's a footpath from one side of the resort that comes up right into the middle of the two pavilions, so you might be waiting way back past the second pavilion and have been in line for 45 minutes, and people can come up on that footpath and suddenly be 30 people ahead of you in line! OR (which happened to us) you could be first in line and the bus pulls up to the wrong depot and then suddenly you're last in line and don't make it on that bus! :faint:

They really need to have ropes up like they do at the parks as a loose guide to where a line starts and ends. It's only fair. It's all well and good when it's fairly quiet and you know that the family seated on the benches behind you were there long before you got there and let them get on first, but the situation described above here is all too common and not only at POR but at other resorts too.

Great tip, thanks! :)

I just looked at it on the App Store - it doesn't have any reviews. Have any of you used it?

THIIISSSS so much. LOL I'm so used to staying at Pop and having success with their buses that I'm actually nervous for my upcoming stay at CBR. I guess if I get too worried, I'll just drive, since I'll have a rental car.

We were very happy with the buses at CBR in October. We never tried to get to an EMH park, though...

I won't be going to any morning EMHs (except maybe AK on my departure day...haven't decided yet), and the only evening EMH I'll be at is MK, which will be the park I'm hopping to from AK in the early afternoon.

Here now at POR. Trying to get to MK EMH. Been in line of a hundred plus for a half hour. During that time four Animal Kingdom busses roll by picking up maybe a total of 15 people. Two busses come by for MK. Who is running the controls here?!?

In the mornings at Riverside. MK sends a bus to Riverside every ten minutes but they can get full before they reach the south depot. Like yesterday I drove through Riverside at POR I don't know how long anyone has been waiting so I make every effort to get everyone thats under the bus shelter when I arrive. Guests arriving after I do I don't worry so much. Yesterday I made sure to pack my bus and got all the guests on my bus.

Also there is a coordinator stationed at POR in the mornings they have 5 buses stationed to use as needed at the French Quarter parking as I'm sure you've seen them. Only Mk or DTD needs them usually but if they send all five buses out at once then of course, you'll have to wait for a bus from MK to be sent and by the time a bus is dispatched and gets around to south depot it can be 30-35 minutes. (meaning an extra bus besides the ones already enroute to Riverside)

Im a MK driver but was off today so couldnt tell you if anything different happened this morning.
